...altho' I am having problems loading saved games.  Looking at this and the Total War Forums elsewhere, is this a widespread problem?  Not massively bothered, as the custom games seem great anyway! :)

Ok, so I go to C: > Program Files > Activision > Rome Total War.  At this point I have the following:

Data
Docs
Miles
preferences (a file)
saves
keys.dat
mss32.dll
preferences (a text doc)
Rome Total War Readme (for patch 1.3)
Rome Total War (application)
WHTW (the mod...)

Going into WHTW, there are four subfolders (custom, preferences, saves, WHTW).  Going into WHTW there is a data subfolder and a readme.  The data subfolder has further subfolders:

animations
banners
custom
loading_screen
menu
models
models_effects
model_engine
models_missile
models_unit
sounds
text
UI
world

Then a load of text docs:

descr_aerial_map_ground-types

and about 28 others, ending with export_descr_unit.

Thanks for your help!

Thanks, had already read that thread!  Have tried everything, but whilst the names have changed (so a custom battle had the "Imperial Army of Altdorf taking on the Dark Elves"), the units remain, well, stubbornly Roman, as does the bloody campaign map.  Perhaps I have a level too many?

Well, having stumbled on this I could have cried - a Warhammer mod for RTW?!!  Patched up to 1.3, then 1.5, DL'd the mod, un-rar'd it, put  it in the RTW folder, copied the shortcut, tried to play.  The game loads as RTW, and I noticed that the game was still the vanilla RTW.  Sadly, the only thing that has changed is the Faction names.  I can see the Realm of Bretonnia, I can see Middenland, Kislev etc.  So what have I done wrong.  From what I have seen, this looks to be the mod of mods.  But I can't get it to work!
