Roma Vice: Total War / Roma vicit version 0.89 features (Update 10/1/12)

As time has moved on since we have announced us working on version 0.89 Of Roma Vicit there have no doudt been a few changes in our plans for the mod, mostly minor but a few larger ones as well :) Hence the need we have felt to update this post and this will probably not be the last either as we are always having new ideas float into our minds and such.

So to kick off once again is our faction list with a few minor changes to names and such.

Once again the point of mod is to show trully the diffulculty of Roma expanding with so many rivals around her. We also want to show the true extent of the breakup of Alexanders empire into its many Kingdoms. The map is decreased in size from vannila but its scale has been vastly increase to better show the lay of the land. Its stretches from Iberia to the homeland of Parthia, and from the middle of France to North Africa. The map is a completly reworked version of Webirds map which we have used as a foundation block and then cut and reworked in certain areas.

By decreasing the geographical area of the mod, this frees up more slots for us to better represent the time period with complete realistic armies, cities, buildings ect. In fact all 199 settlement slots are filled along with all 512 model slots for unit. We are trully trying to max out the system.

With all this taken into consideration, this means we can take more time to better focus on each faction, to better represent building trees, units and of course we want to historically portray each factions way of conducting warfare.

Not only are we working on improving all aspects of coding, but we are also trying to improve the graphical effects in every possible way we can. This means all units have  high quality well detailed skins, the battle map building will be completly reworked to provide a trully authentic siege feeling. We have our own made animations by our team animator providing for the first time trully thrilling battles, with brand new reworked attack and defense animations which really creates a new feel to battlefield experience. We shall also be including the brilliant enviroment mod from RS2 with a few of our own changes including a brand new skymod. Unfortunatly though we will be removing one of the enviroment slots which we shall explain now.

Yes the reason for removing one enviroment is to make way for one of our more anticipated parts of our mod. Yes we are still planning on bringing for the first time playable sea battles, on custom battles and also playable on the campiagn map. You will have complete controll of each ship in your navy, being able to attack your enemies by either ramming other ships or by bombarding them if you have a well equiped ship with onagers, ballitas, scorpions you name it :) More shall be released on this soon including a complete preview dedicated to this subject ;)

The start date for our mod is 232 BC. It provides a great starting position with lots of oppotunity for epic breakouts of war. Carthage has been expelled from Scicly & Sardinia and are hungry for revenge. With Roma controlling the once Carthago owned cities on Scicilly, tensions between Roma and City State of Syracusae is about to break out into in enivatable bloody war. With Carthago turning its attention to its minerally rich holding in Iberia, the tribes of the Lusiattani and Celtiberians will have to defend themselves to the death if there is any chance with competing with the rising power of the Romani. The pelponesse is in an ever warlike state with the once powerfull state of Makedon vying for power and land of the Aetolian and Achaen Leagues. In fact, all the states left behind from the great empire of Aleaxandros are in a very weary state and are on the brink of collapse.

From the start date we shall be including a 4 turn per year script. Also included shall be several reforms for nearly all factions, (not just Roma). We shall also include scripted events, and a very deep and expanded base of brand new traits and ancillarys, of which shall once again have preview dedicated purely to this subject to display our vast array of work which has been put into this area.

As just mentioned, we shall be including a script. However, we are planning on not relying to heavily on our script but instead trying, for instance, of making the AI act historically correct without forcing it to do so with scripts so as to not heavily wear down peoples cpu's.

So hope this little update helps maybe answer a few questions to you all. Please leave comments and questions as we are always interested to hear what you say and how we can maybe improve anything.

Roma Vice: Total War / Kingdom of Massylia Preview

Hi all. :)

After much discusion between our team earlyier in development, we finally decided to include this faction, even at one point we scrapped the faction Numidia but after a lot of talking and decision making, we chose to inlude this great faction.

A few reasons for this, a while after our start date, Numidia do become a strong faction even challenging Roma under the rule King Juba. Also having a faction right next to Carthage, makes the campaign for Carting a threat in Africa. We also feel that their kind of warfare was unique to the meditrainean and it would be a shame without creating a realistic portrayal of this.

Massylia unit rooster shall mostly compromise of light missile infantry and cavalry. With one or two well armoured elites and later in campaign can recruit a roman legionaire variant.

Roma Vice: Total War / 0.88 download

Hi all the great day is here.

It gives me and the team great pleasure in releasing the latest version of our mod. Yes we are sorry for going a few months over from what we had said but lots of time and incredible effort has gone into this.



For instance, we went through 3 different maps before we chose this one. At this moment, we would like to give a huge thanks to the work of legio, that put a lot of time into our mod, but in the end, due to a few reasons and change of course, they were not used. But still, thanks for the time and effort you put in.



This version is a vast improvement over the 0.87. Brand new map, completly new unit rooster for each faction since 0.87, brand new battle map enviroments and graphics, brand new animations, brand new strat map models for units and citys, new recruitment system for romans and the Achaen League, night battles, brand new unit stats for realistic battles and many more things to look forward to.



The mod is set in 280 BC, the Romani are starting momentum, Carthago's thirst for power in Spain and Scicly is tireless, the Achaen League stands strong in front of the Macedonian and Carthagian onslaught, the Ptolemaic Empire looks to seizing lands of the Seleukid Empire, Armenia, Parthia and Pontus look to take their revenge for the years of rule under the Seleukids. The world is set for total war. Will Carthago hold all of Scilcy? Will the Aedui crush the Romani? Can the alliance of the Achaen League hold its own against Macedon? Will the small land of Armenia be able to fend of insurgences from the Seleukids? The answer, is in your hands.

Roma Vice: Total War / Secondary modding feautures

Hi all sorry I have been inscribe for a while, I have been quite busy.

We have opened this thread to be for new features we are working on but not as important as other things, such as new animations, loading screens ect.

Today I am pleased to show some of our work from our very skilled animator dark_horse_spirit. This is the new animation for archers so when they pull back on the string it actually goes with the persons hand, very realistic and cool, and something ca really should have included in the initial release. Still being tested and that but here is a small pick from our animator.



It's just a little clip of what were doing. Were trying to bring brand new realistic animations to a lot of aspects. DHS has also been working on some brand new beautiful cavalry animations which we shall show sometime. Also Armenia, Rome, macedon and Seleucid empire previews coming soon :) hope u enjoy

Roma Vice: Total War / Sea Battles

I have now decided to keep the community up together with what we are doing, im going to tell you what we are working on for our next big them.

We are working bringing sea battles to the battle map. This will bring the sea faring nations like carthage and illyria, will become important nations. This will probably be the last major break through for the rtw engine.

How were gonna do it is retexture floor so its like sea, then with a model of the boat we can have animations for oars and sails, then to implement the battle map on the campiagn. We will make it a custon battle first to make it easire too implement so when its finally implemented it will have most of the fixes already done. As i leave you here is a picture of one ship. please leave comments. if i dont reply thats because im away for a wk.

Hi all i was a bit bored of modding yestersday so i decided just to mess around for a bit, anyway what i ended up with was a small intro movie, its not very good just thought we'd show you though. We will start to make some proper movies soon with opening clips and that of battle scenes but this is just a glimpse for now. Enjoy. Roma Vice: Total War / Carthago Preview for 0.89

Hi all, sorry this took a while. For our first preview, we shall show you some of the units included in the upcoming 0.88.5 release. Before we start can we say that this is still a WIP so if there are any irregularitys in the anims stances, this still is yet to be fixed. Also please keep checking each sticky, as i shall be editing this original post within the week to hopefully release more info such as building trees, strat map pics, more units and maybe a vid if i get enough time.

Total War Mods - The Engineer's Shed / Roma Vice Total War

Hi all. I am Jmilan77, mod-leader for Roma Vice Total War. I was told by a member in TWC to post my mod hear so hear goes.

We are currently working on 0.88 version which should be out in a few weeks. This next version shall be a major overhaul of each factions with historical accuracy. For example Egypt are now Phtolemaic empire.
All the units have been remodelled and textured for better accuracy. We have also added many new units to each faction with correct names. Also, we have completely removed the colour coding from each faction which helps accuracy for battles and we have made all battle longer to create a more realistic battle and more time to pull of minovears. All comlpete new animations so for greeks fight in correct stance with spears above their shields and animations for all other factions have been reworked and are still being done so. We also have a brand new map that stretched from the north tip of scottland to far enough east to correctly fit in the parthians now. Brand new tree models, grass and terrain by tone.
And there are many more things that we can tell you about but its best if we let you play this for yourself.

This mod has been worked on for over a year now and is now getting rather complete and realistic now when 0.88 comes out.

We shall give you the link for 0.87 but be warned when 0.88 comes out, this will be blown out of the water compaired. we have also strived to provide this mod for windows users and also mac users so we have seperate downloads for each.
