Warhammer; Total War / CAMPAIGN RELEASE
« on: January 11, 2011, 04:07:29 AM »
Hey I've been wondering, you know the Fourth Age mod for BI right?

Well they've got a hereditary trait that dictates what the character's bodyguard unit is.  For instance, "Captain of Ithilien" gives White Company bodyguard.

I was wondering if something similar could be done here.  For instance, Grand Masters could be Empire Lords that have a bodyguard of their respective Order.

The Loremaster of Hoeth could be guarded by Swordmasters, etc.

I reckon that would be a really cool feature.

I was also wondering, are immortal Lords possible? Cause its a bit of a kick in the gonads when your Tomb King dies of old age.  :D

Warhammer; Total War / Bug Reports

Hear ye, report thy bugs herein and let them be known unto the devs. And the devs will fix them, for the devs they are gracious devs.

Known Bugs:

Fixed Bugs:
But only if the devs get a 3d modeller, right?  ;)

Lets see:

Skaven have no weapons
Boars "float"
Carpet pilots have legs sticking through carpets
Tilean Marine shields are black squares with an orange shield on it
Silver Helm shields are at a wierd angle

Campaign:
Anlec is spelt Anelc.  Minor I know.

These have probably already been brought to your attention but this way they're in one spot for you.

I'll keep an eye out for more.

Tabletop Games - The Game Room / Most over powered army

Which army do you think is overpowered in Warhammer Fantasy?

In my opinion it would have to be Warriors of Chaos   basic troop on par with most other heroes and heroes that can get better through a battle  also due to these eye of the gods advancements thier heroes own in campaigns
:knight:

This.  Doesn't matter what edition, WoC's are evil.   And not just, "I'm gonna eat your babies and defecate everywhere" (You know the Beastman evil  :P ) but the "I'm gonna take 200 points worth of Warriors and beat the living 5#1T out of your entire army" evil.

Not that that's ever happened to me of course...   :-/

Tabletop Games - The Game Room / Your Army
« on: January 10, 2011, 03:38:31 PM »
I've got way too much LotR to count.  I sort of gave up on it when War of the Ring came out.  I loved the SBG but nobody plays it anymore.

As far as 40k goes I have a small Space Marine army, (come on, who doesn't? :D) a 1800 Craftworld Eldar army, some Dark Eldar and my main 40k force, 2250 points of Exodites from a fan-made codex I'm working on.  I say working but I haven't touched it in about a year.

Fantasy I have almost 16000 points of assorted Elves.  My High Elves are the main force with Prince Raethelas even having his own fluff written about his exploits.  If anyone's interested, here's the story.
I also have almost 3000 points of Bretonnians and I'm slowly amassing a force of Khuresh.  Another project I've been working on, they're the noble Tiger-men of Ind.

I'll post pics if anyone's interested.

Warhammer; Total War / Custom Battle Maps
« on: January 10, 2011, 08:47:25 AM »
Rejoice!  For in accordance to Jubal's wishes here is a list which will be updated next time I'm on this computer, of the Custom Battle maps that work to varying degrees and those that cause your entire glorious army to drown.  Without further ado, here is the list.

As far as I can tell, all the maps up until British Grasslands are unchanged.  I only checked a few of the ones with crosses and Rome and Ancrya for the pre-built sieges, but I didn't run into any problems.

MAPS THAT WILL KILL YOUR ARMY:
British Grasslands
Gallic Countryside
Germanic Forest
Capaddoccian Forest
Sierra Nevada
Scottish Highlands
African Coast
Greek Shore
River Jordan

MAPS THAT ARE UNCHANGED:
Italian Lowlands
Pontic Peaks
Armenian Mountains
(I'm not entirely sure they're the same as they used to be but they are pretty close.)

MAPS THAT ARE PLAYABLE BUT DON'T LOOK ANYTHING LIKE THEY USED TO:
Sahara Desert -> Now more of a Sahara Heathland.  It was a lot like the Italian Lowlands.
Libyan Plains -> Very dense forest.
Arabian Dunes -> Also very dense forest.
Nordic Woodland -> No longer has woodland.  More like steppes.
Pripet Marshes -> Now forested.
Alpine Valley -> Desert and hilly.
Tuscan Bay -> Has no bay.
Moon River -> No river, clearing between two clumps of forest.
Nile Bridge -> Very hilly no vegetation.  Very rocky.

This list is complete to the best of my knowledge.  Hope it helps.
Cheers,

Aaah bugger.  That sucks.  But if we had a 3D modeller it would be possible, right?

EDIT* Have you though about a Bug Reprt thread around here?  Would probably really help with polishing the mod.  :D  I have another one if you're interested.

The Orc's piggies appear to be floating.

Rome did not create a great empire by having meetings.  They did it by killing all those who opposed them.

If you can stay calm while all around you is chaos...You probably haven't comprehended the seriousness of the situation.

Doing a job right the first time gets the job done.  Doing a job wrong the first 14 times gets you job security.

Teamwork...Means never having to take the blame yourself.

Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.

Indecision is the key to flexibility.

Don't bother checking my record.  But if you do, I swear she was 18.

Ok I'll have a maps list posted later on today.

As far as the Stormvermin go, would the weapons that the Dragon Islanders Halberdiers have be possible?  Cause the Stormvermin models have a mix of halberds and glaives.  And the DI halberds are pretty close to glaives.  Then again pikes would probably be more useful.

Hmmm that's a damned pity about the factions.  Here's hoping that when (that's right, it better be when and not if) Rome 2 comes out, there's no limit.  Then we can really go to town. :D

I was thinking Indian names too and that's a good thing cause it means I can get the names for the lords in my Warband mod too.

And yeah, I figured elves were your thing.
 I wonder why...   ;)

This is a little off topic but are the Skaven not supposed to have any weapons?  And unfortunately my sister thinks they're "cute."  I tried explaining that they're evil domination types but she didn't get it.  I ended up just falling back on, "You saw Reepicheep in Narnia.  He kicks ass."

I should probably explain that I was playing the campaign and she asked if she could give multiplayer a go.  Took bloody ages to find a map that worked, but figured out that sieges work wherever.  Its just a dusty godforsaken piece of dirt in the middle of the ocean with some walls and such.  Just thought I'd let people know who were getting annoyed with Custom Battles.  I can sort out a list of maps that work and what they look like if anyone wants?

Thanks.

I've done all the Elves.  I love Elves so they just flew by.  I've also done most of the humans, only Dragon Islanders and Chaos to go.  With regards to the DI, what theme were you going for?  I've noticed they seem to be Oriental so something like that?

PS: Just so you know Dragon Islands are actually a High Elf colony I believe.  It's a pity about the faction limit.  But is that limit only on playable factions or is it everything?

2000 Phoenix Guard, 2000 Waywatchers, 2000 Dragon Princes but in the old days when they actually rode Dragons, 2000 Ellyrion Reavers and 2000 Sea Guard guarding 500 Eagle Claw Bolt Throwers.  It takes two Elves to crew an Eagle Claw, leaving 1000 Sea Guard to actually guard the machines while the Bolt Throwers shower everything in razor sharp death.

They may not be real, but Elves leave humans in the dust when it comes to warfare.

Mount and Blade Discussion - Sargoth Town Square / Mods and money
« on: January 06, 2011, 06:33:46 PM »
Yes I agree with everyone so far but, would it be so bad for the mods to be released with the game but without payment?  I know the main reason  why mmy friend doesn't download mods is the wait for the download to finish and the fact that mods are generally unifinished and therefore buggy.  To some extent I agree with him although it doesn't stop me from downloading any mod I damn well please. :D

Wouldn't the inclusion of some of the best mods open more people up to the modding community and therefore create more long-term players of the game and members of the community? I think so.

Just a thought...
