That was a myth? My whole life has been a lie!

I doubt there were any entire continents that have disappeared during human existence, but obviously there have been major flooding events and atlantis-style disappearances (e.g Doggerland in Europe). Whether or not there were advanced civilisations in these regions is another question.
I guess it's rather the opposite of Atlantis but I know the Sahara used to be green and fertile, afaik the current consensus is that Egyptian style civilisations arose after the Sahara became arid but it's possible that there are undiscovered sites of earlier civilisations. The Sahara is roughly the size of the US afterall.

Discussion and Debate - The Philosopher's Plaza / Re: US Politics 2021

The man with the zip ties and very scary military looking uniform has been identified, largely because he went to the riot with his mother who was not wearing any sort of face covering.
See I know this was a very serious situation but I'm still finding it hard to take it seriously because of just how comically stupid these people seem to be.

I am actually going to pay attention to the news for a while though, it's genuinely a worrying time.

You had me at "inspired by Gothic I and II" I, love the crap out of those games. Wish Gothic 3 lived up to them, it had so much potential.

I might have beans on toast for lunch now.
2021 has been much like the end of 2020 so far. At least Cobra Kai s3 finally came out, and I do believe Disenchantment has a third season out very soon too.
Buuuuuuuut it seems like this strain of the ole covid is spreading round these parts pretty happily, doubt we'll be out of tier 4 anytime soon.

I skimmed over everything, are Egyptologists finally admitting the obvious truth that aliens built the pyramids?

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Oh I don't think it's just wealthy and well connected people in the US who do that.

TBH part of me would welcome some attempt at armed revolt by these "militia" groups, I imagine the reality of fighting against the world's most well funded military would probably cool their ardour rather swiftly. But I do hope these lunatics keep their tin foil hats on and stick to just playing soldiers.

General Chatter - The Boozer / Re: Yuletide in the plague year
« on: December 28, 2020, 01:00:37 PM »
Christmas was pretty pleasant over here, living with my mum at the moment and we had my sister's family round for the 25th, went for a slightly quieter walk than normal on the 26th with my brother's family. It's been a quiet one but I like that, and it was always going to be a bit subdued since it's our first Christmas without my father.

Incidentally, Penty - why the new user account?
I forgot my old password and the email account I had for it must have been an old one.

That would help indeed.

Ahh I see. Well I haven't read into this much at all but I don't really see the need for this ban at all, and I don't understand the argument that a child is unable to consent to this particular treatment when many other kind of treatments are fine. Perhaps if these patients are under the impression that there will be no side effects at all before they undergo treatment, but if this is the case then surely the clinicians who fail to explain the treatment properly are at fault rather than the treatment itself (just like with any other medical procedure).

Has there actually been any violence yet regarding the election results?
