Forum Games - The Beer Cellar! / The Green Glass Door
« on: August 14, 2008, 01:57:24 PM »
This is another game where logic will make you win...

The idea of the game is to find out what can go past 'The Green Glass Door' and the first person to work it out wins, simple you say  ;)

Behind the Green Glass Door:

Attend classes at school or college but not courses at a university.

There are no clothes but there are speedos.

There is grass but no dirt

There are books but no shelves.

There is a moon but no sun.

There is hell but no heaven.

There are paddles but no oars.

What can get through, can't, but what cannot get through, can.

The person to work it out makes another puzzle and so on....

Game Guides and Tutorials / CN2's Guide To Posting Screenshots
« on: July 24, 2008, 08:24:22 PM »
Thinking of doing an AAR or just fancy showing us something cool?
Well read this and hopfully by the end you will be an expert in the art of screenshots.

Taking the screenshots

So lets get started, first the simple way of taking a screenshot is by pressing the 'Print screen' button (or prt scr) on your keyboards, then quiting the game by alt+tab and copying it into paint and saving it.
This can get very tedious and takes a long time so some bright spark came up with Fraps, which lets you take multiple pictures at the same time without quiting the game.Another in game camera is Gamecam, but this focuses more on fliming rather than screenshots.

Note:However you take your pictures, afterward you will want to convert them to .jpg files. You can use a graphics editor program to do this. MS Paint comes with Windows and can do this if you open and save each picture individually as a .jpg file. Irfanview is a better program that is free to download. To make things easy, Irfanview has a batch conversion feature that will covert pictures from one format to another in bulk, which is very handy if you are using the free version of Fraps (which only allows you to save your pics as .bmps).

Uploading and posting

Now that you have the shots, you want to put them on the forum,to do this you need a photo uploading website like Photobucket or ImageShack,I recommend Photobucket as the bulk uploader is free and is a much easier website to navigate around.

Once you have uploaded the photos or screenshots copy and paste the img codes  E.G  [img]www.exampleimgcode into the forum, they are written next to the photos you have uploaded.

So how do I do thumbnails? Its easy all you do is tick the photo and scroll down the page until you find a button that says 'Generate HTML and IMG code' click on it and copy the middle section that comes up,it says 'IMG clickable thumbnails for message boards - recommended',paste it into the forums and voila there is your thumbnail.

A few hints 'n tips

1.When you are using the 'Print screen' method be sure to turn OFF Anti-Aliasing ,or your screenshots will come out black

2.When you install either Fraps Or game cam you will create a folder for the screenshots to be sent to automatically, clear this out once in a while or it will become very clattered and your screenshots will be directed elsewhere.

3.Make the file names short and sweet,if they are too long the picture will not diplay on the forum very well if at all.

I hope this helps Kind Regards-CN2
