So, I know that the cupcake tutorial is way way overdue, I'm sorry. We've been really busy recently with one thing and the other, but we plan to have it up soon, honest. :)

In the meantime though, I thought I'd share another recipe - Malteser Slice.
It's basically a tiffin cake, so requires no 'baking' - just chilling in the fridge, and it's really easy to make. :)

You will need:
9 oz digestive biscuits
6 oz margarine
5 oz milk chocolate
5 oz drinking chocolate (the kind you put into hot milk is best)
3 tablespoons golden syrup
maltesers (I use a share bag)
white and plain (dark) chocolate (for decoration)

^ The ingredients I used. I'm from the UK, and realise it might not be so easy to get these exact things elsewhere in the world, so if you need help with substituting something, let me know :)

Step One: Crushing the digestives. I find it easiest to do this by putting them into a freezer bag, lightly knotting the top, and using a rolling pin to crush them in a mess-free way.

Step Two: Melting the milk chocolate, margarine and golden syrup together in a bowl. I did this in the microwave (ours is 800w and it took around two minutes, checking twice and stirring) but you can do this over a pan of boiling water.

Step Three: Add the crushed biscuits and drinking chocolate to the bowl and stir into the mixture.

Step Four: Add most (but not all) of the maltesers to the mix and stir in.

Step Five: Transfer mixture to a suitable container and smooth down (i've used a glass pyrex dish, purely for the shape as it's easier to cut into portions in a square or rectangular dish). I've also lined it with greaseproof paper to stop the mixture sticking to the container. Then, use the remaining maltesers to push into the top of the mixture (and of course, eat any that don't fit :P )

Step Six: Chill the mixture in the fridge until it feels cool and solid. It willl probably still be a bit sticky, but it is tiffin cake, so that's to be expected. :P

Part Two of the tutorial coming when mine is done chilling! :) This shouldn't take too long, maybe an hour or so. :)

If you have any questions, I'll do my best to answer them. :)

In case you're curious...

In which SotK and I attempt to make elderberry wine for the first time and invite you to join us on our adventure. :)

We have begun fermenting the wine in demijohns as of tonight. We actually began the process yesterday night (not including picking the elderberries).

Step One (yesterday): Elderberries de-stalked, and ready to be soaked in hot water (with campden tablets) overnight.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Step Two (tonight): More hot water, sugar, pectin and yeast added, and mixture transferred into the demijohns.

If anyone wants the exact recipe or has questions, let me know! :)

All things Marvel movie-related, release dates, character discussions etc. etc. here!

I realise that the MCU will probably need more than a very general thread. :P

Food Discussion - The Jolly Boar Kitchen / MoD's Baking Tutorials!

So, I want to start these soon (I finish work for summer on Wednesday, and hopefully our broadband will be sorted soon!) :D

What to do first though?
Victoria Sponge is really easy, and I love that's it's a 'courting cake'.
Exilian cupcakes - I'm thinking chocolate cakes, with blue vanilla icing.
Cookies/biscuits - also easy enough - I've done Pokéball sugar cookies before.

Thanks for the feedback :D

P.S. Wish we could've made the convention, and I could've handed out cupcakes :(

So named for the literary discussion group to which J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis belonged (minus the specifically Christian part :P )

I thought it'd be nice to have a thread for the authors/writers/poets/songwriters of Exilian to post and share ideas and inspiration, if they wanted to, and for anyone to read and comment on those ideas. :)

Anything, whether plot ideas, snippets of writing, or whole chapters are welcome, if people want to share them and would like opinions! :) (Though the whole chapters would probably like their own thread :P )

I don't think I've seen a riddles thread... So I thought I'd start one :)
Posts attempt to answer the previous riddle and whoever's right posts a new one :)
Easy one to start? :P

The beginning of eternity,
The end of time and space,
The beginning of every end,
The end of every place.

This thread may be dark and full of spoilers! :P

So, if any other ASoIaF fans are interested, I thought it might be interesting to discuss the characters in the books/show. Anything about them really.
I thought I'd start with Joffrey Baratheon. On the Facebook page I admin, I put to the fans the question of why Joffrey is the way he is (you know, an idiot). I was surprised such a lot of them immediately put it down to the fact he was conceived in an incestous relationship.
I'd never really thought it to be that, I put it down to him not having a particularly good father, Robert never showed much interest in his 'son'. Also, the way he was conditioned to think that once he was King, he could have whatever he wanted, by his mother, Cersei.

Thoughts anyone? Any other characters people want to discuss? :)
