Utherwald Press / Re: On Matters Racial, Part Two
« on: August 11, 2015, 12:42:18 PM »
Artwork has been held back by lack of money, though I recently got £500 from a relative...only to find that artist was going on holiday. :balrog:

I had drawn a map of Alyeska, though for various reasons never got round to finishing it but its something that I do plan on knuckling down on.

Thank you. :)

Follow on from last week's post, more details on both the Windryders and Genchi. Also mentions airship borne nomads.

Next week's blog post is gonna cover this.

With regards to the Windryders whilst they are Humanoid they're not that commonly encountered and clothing wise tend to be a cross between an Eskimo and a Tusken Raider. As you can imagine there is plenty of room for speculation.

Following on from the recent feedback survey we take a look at a couple of proposed races for the Frozen Skies setting. The previously mentioned Windryders and their long distant cousins the Genchi. Little bit of their histories are included along with some character creation guidelines useful for NPCs and PCs alike.

Theres the Bodarks for starters...

Of course there is going to be mundane animals much like our own world such as deer, bears, etc.

Feedback I've gotten from people has been for the Wulvers to be bipedal 'not-Werewolves', also had the suggestion that perhaps they could climb trees, this could broaden their food source.

Ryland Flinch is based loosely off a real life guy, both managed to avoid capture by law enforcement (for the Real Life case it was the Mounties) for quite some time.

I forgot how long the real life lasted for but Ryland Flinch has spent at least two years on the run in a man eating giant wolf infested, icy wasteland.

You can imagine what the newspapers alone are like about it.

That'll be Ryland Flinch, he gets a mention in the Setting Primer.

Every week I post something up on the Utherwald blog, either news or stats for an NPC or creature, etc.

Decided here I'll do a separate thread for each blog post, typically containing a brief blurb and a libk to the post in question for peeps to comment on, etc here.

Heres goes;

Rogue's Gallery: Boris MacKay

Kicking off a new series to provide NPCs for games of Frozen Skies with a look at one of Alyeska's well known aviators.

Utherwald Press / Greetings!
« on: July 18, 2015, 07:19:27 PM »
Welcome to the latest (as of July 2015) addition to Exilian!

Utherwald Press is effectively a one man show based up in the wilds of deepest, darkest Norfolk.

Its main project is the creation of a Dieselpunk setting that has finally seen the light of day in the form of both a book of short stories and a roleplaying game setting called Frozen Skies. The RPG side of things is being done using the Savage Worlds system as a licensee and thus on a commercial basis (hopefully becoming a full time job).

Ultimately the project and various posts on it can be found here; http://www.utherwaldpress.com/

Thanks for the welcome guys.

I've put my website in my profile, I do a weekly blog post there and you can find links to stuff including my store on DriveThruRPG.

Working on getting the main book out, the main hurdle is artwork. Used to be not having enough money, after getting a load of money from a relative its waiting for the artist to come back from holiday.

General Chatter - The Boozer / Re: Post-ExiliCon discussion

Sod's law it had to be a weekend when there were a number of big events going on in Cambridge, found virtually every place to stay was booked up months ago.
We're sorry about this; various Exilian members suffered from the same problem, and it is definitely something we will bear in mind for next year. Last year, the event was a couple of weeks later, and didn't (as far as we know) clash with anything in Cambridge. By the time we had found out that this year's date did clash, it was too late to change it.

Not a problem, it happens.

I'm glad I got invited and the fact that its an easier event to get to than the UK Games Expo is a plus in my book (even if it was a long and tiring day).

Still, heres to next year.

Hello all!

First heard about you lot when I got invited to Exilicon 2015 by James.

I pitched up this past Saturday and got to meet one or two of you in person and learn a bit more about the group.

I'm based near Norwich in Norfolk, my day job (technically a night job more often than not) involves working in a cinema but in my spare time I work on a Dieselpunk RPG setting for the Savage Worlds system called Frozen Skies. Currently have out there a book of short stories called Alyeskan Tales, an adventure and most recently a setting primer. Looking to gradually release more content as well as the main book for the setting.
