Evil Overlords

This is a flip-side idea to the Adventurers debate/vote we had once.

Your job is to design the best evil overlordship ever. Each person posts their ideal set, no duplication permitted, then we vote! All entries must be REAL people/places from history, and the technology levels will be pre-gunpowder (you can use post-gunpowder people or places, but "US Marines would beat legionaries because they have guns lol" is not a valid argument here). This time there is no requirement that you fill a role - your role is as cackling overlord!

You need:
- Your Mad Scientist
Who will make the biggest and best weapons, trap-doors, potions, etc, EVER?
- Your Chief Henchman
Who will ruthlessly and intelligently carry out your orders, able to command and strategise but also faithful to you/your goals and prepared to defend you?
- Your Femme/Gent Fatale
Who will seduce the good guys from their mission best?
- Additional team-mate
An extra specialist who will tip the balance of power in your favour. A demagogue to whip a mob onto your side, a close-combat bodyguard, or a sneaky tactician?
- Your Fortress of Doom
Where would be the most effective AND coolest fortress?
- Your Minions
Legionaries? Housecarls? US Marines? Religious nuts? The choice is yours!

(I'm still amused that I beat Jesus to the Best Cleric award)

Good luck with the entries!
The duke, the wanderer, the philosopher, the mariner, the warrior, the strategist, the storyteller, the wizard, the wayfarer...

Othko97

Mad Scientist: Nikola Tesla
Chief Henchman: Leonidas of Sparta
Femme Fatale: Helen of Troy (if she is as beautiful as the fables suggest)
Additional Team-mate: Simo Hayha, for his epic sniping awesomeness
Fortress of Doom: Sealand
Minions: Samurai, preferably those under from the school of Miyamoto Musashi

This was harder than I thought...
I am Othko, He who fell from the highest of places, Lord of That Bit Between High Places and Low Places Through Which One Falls In Transit Between them!

Good shouts, Helen of Troy dubious historically but we'll let it slide.

Samurai minions are a cool idea, not sure if they'd be terribly amenable to doing menial tasks or taking orders though which could be an issue.

I'll do mine once one or two more have been posted to avoid me getting an advantage by going first and sniping all the good people.  :P

Othko97

Well, if she did exist she was apparently attractive enough to start a war over, so that should be enough :P

I had too many good ideas for every single position, it's just unfair D:

Point taken.  :)

Anyone else in on this?
The duke, the wanderer, the philosopher, the mariner, the warrior, the strategist, the storyteller, the wizard, the wayfarer...

Mad Scientist: Archimedes
Chief Henchman: Erwin Rommel (we may be up to no good but at least we do it with respect) ;)
Femme Fatale: Cleopatra
Additional Team-mate: Barack Obama
Fortress of Doom: Fort Knox
Minions: Exilianites

Jubal

Exilianite minions... not sure how well that'd work! Obama an interesting pick as well. Rommel and Archimedes both solid ideas, I think, and Fort Knox also literally quite solid.  :P

Come on then, Joob. What do you got? :)

Jubal

I just realised I never did this :P

Mad Scientist: Da Vinci
Chief Henchman: Hannibal
Femme Fatale: Anne Boleyn
Additional Team-mate: Simo Hayaha. Good luck getting close to my fortress, heroes.
Fortress of Doom: Vardzia, in Georgia (http://www.kuriositas.com/2010/11/cave-city-of-vardzia.html - note that the caves would not have been visible when it was actually used, that's later earthquake damage. The only way in was a hidden, one man wide tunnel.)
Minions: Spartiates
The duke, the wanderer, the philosopher, the mariner, the warrior, the strategist, the storyteller, the wizard, the wayfarer...
