Clockwork

People who buy TW:WH a week after release still get Chaos Warriors DLC free. A Dragon Ogre is one of their Legendary Lords.

Aye, I saw the announcement on FB. I do quite like dragon ogres, they always seemed a little under-used fluffwise.
The duke, the wanderer, the philosopher, the mariner, the warrior, the strategist, the storyteller, the wizard, the wayfarer...

TW:WH "Will Support Mods", which hopefully is as good in practice as it sounds in principle.

For me, it makes little difference. Not fussed by the inevitable LotR mod that's already being made for it even though TATW was great, there's been so much LotR that I'm bored of it. Plus WH is a better fantasy setting imo anyway.

WH is a better setting for gaming, which it damn well ought to be given that's literally what it's designed for.

I'll see how it looks. It'll be tempting to make some tweaks I suspect, certainly.

Has anyone got this? Is it good? Is it the worst thing since unsliced Hitler?

Clockwork

Oh yeah I got this on release! It's freaking awesome :D

In bullet points a few reasons it's great:

  • Doesn't focus on the city management side too much thankfully.
  • The different factions are actually unique.
  • Levelling up system is very rewarding.
  • Magic is hella fun to use.
  • Sieges are streamlined in right way, siege AI is better than any TW game to date.
  • Units, heroes, lords are very much in spirit of their tabletop versions.
  • Diplomacy is very effective depending on faction. It's pretty crucial as Empire and to an extent Dwarfs also, VC doesn't need it at all and Orcs pretty much have to beat another Orc tribe almost into dust before any diplomacy can be done.
  • Mechanics are introduced to keep factions balanced, vampires have to blight areas they occupy but city growth is really high, Orcs get free armies if they get enough fightiness to create a Waaagh.
  • Flying units are both fun and well balanced.
  • Free content is being released for the game steadily.
Things that don't help

  • Public order is still a thing and for some factions sucks.
  • Not enough races are released. Don't get me wrong, the ones that are out are amazing but it feels like the world is a little underpopulated after 400 hours.
  • Not much variety at the start of a campaign. With the exception of Vampire Counts....And I guess Empire too to an extent.
  • Research is slow.

It's easily a 9/10 genre game though.

Cool, sounds sweet.
Also why is this subforum no in the gaming section? I feel this place has way too many subforums.

Clockwork

Blame Tom.

It started as a news thing though.

If you can, I'd get it. Or wait until they put everything on summer sale next year and get everything cheap af.

My laptops dying so I'll wait until I've replaced it, probably be a while cos I'm a skinflint.

Fair do's bud. It actually runs better on older machines than both Rome 2 and Attila however. A mate of mine that gets about 10 fps on Attila and even fewer on R2 can just about play WH at 20-ish :P
