Hi lovely Exilianfolk,

My new space fantasy novella, Space Dragons: Luxorian's Crew is now crowdfunding as Pay-What-You-Want on Ko-Fi.

Linky with more info here: https://ko-fi.com/post/Crowdfunding-Space-Dragons-Luxorians-Crew-A-cos-Q5Q0YG3UU

If you felt like taking a look or sharing it around (especially with people for whom 'cosy Star Wars with dragon-pulled ships' is interesting) I would really appreciate it.

Description:

Luxorian is a dragon without a rider, and that's a problem.

Since ancient times, dragons and riders have worked together to travel the galaxy, which means Luxorian is out of a job. Their rider abandoned them, leaving them with no void rig, no crew, and a whole lot of bitterness.

When Finder-X239, a bot who constantly talks around the truth, offers them a rig and a suspiciously well-paid materials collection contract, Lux has to accept.

But that means assembling a crew, fast, from desperate folk in their backwater spaceport town, including the humans they turned down as replacement riders. And with no rider to be their voice among the crew, the only person who can run this rig is...well...Lux.

Exploring the galaxy rim, Lux and their crew must face hostile wildlife, dangerous weather, and the vast, rig-eating void horrors that hunt through space.

But harder still, Lux must somehow gain the loyalty of the crew even though they are unwilling to give their trust in return. Not all wounds come by way of a claw or fist...

Space Dragons: Luxorian's Crew is a cosy, queer space fantasy novella with a non-binary, autistic protagonist and a focus on space exploration and community.

This is all very scary because I usually use Kickstarter to crowdfund and crowdfunding is my main source of income. But I think it's important not to be reliant on only one big tech platform so I'm taking a risk to see how this goes.  :-\ So far, it seems to be going okay. We'll see!

Anyway, if you got this far, thanks for reading! Happy to answer any questions about the book or about the crowdfunding campaign (or if you're looking into crowdfunding yourself sometime and have questions, I can probably help a bit).

Yay! Am very glad to see this happen :) And I like the premise, will definitely be getting it and I'll get to sharing the link around soon.

I will add monies of my own to the pot soonish too, though I'm still mulling over what to do re support: I tend to mentally prefer dropping a single "here is X monies" than sign up for regular supports that realistically I'm never going to remember to check on across a whole bunch of platforms, partly because of oddities in how my particular finances work. And it looks like getting the earlier paperback is only available to regular subscription peeps? Which I totally get, the exact lack of object permanence that means I try and not subscribe to things as much is one of the things that gives that subscription a lot more value! But I am ah-humming over whether to do the subscription to get the paperback sooner or just give a slightly bigger single chunk of money: I will make sure to work it out and contribute soon :)

And I see you're already halfway there which is great! Many congrats!

Thank youuu! :D

So part of the monthly supporters getting access to more things is just the limitations of Ko-Fi as a platform. The paperback will be available for everyone when published, monthly supporters will just have the option to buy it a little sooner (and though it's at cost price, I highly suspect it will cost the same as or more than buying it from a retailer just due to how POD works).

Monthly supporters don't really get extra things on a monthly basis as I agreed with my early supporters early on that I wouldn't paywall blog posts or creative content. So really, it's just access to the early paperbacks and bookplates and the free access to download all my books.

Ultimately, a one-off tip isn't much different in terms of what you get, so don't feel discouraged if that's what you prefer!
