I'm going to put a few user polls up here on possible features - please respond and say what you think! Write comments and ideas as well as responding to the poll too, the more info the better!

Current poll - FOOD:
- Currently food just heals health
- Should I a) add a hunger attribute so every so often you need to eat to avoid draining health
- Or b) link food types eaten to stat upgrades so you have to vary your diet to vary your upgraded stats
- Or c) Both a and b
- (Or d, leave as is)

Past polls:

The duke, the wanderer, the philosopher, the mariner, the warrior, the strategist, the storyteller, the wizard, the wayfarer...

I don't think it should have anything to do with stat upgrades, but it makes sense that not eating would lead to starvation. xD

Jubal

The trouble at the moment is really that if one becomes a priest-type character with easy access to healing spells then one can just permanently avoid eating.  :P

Then maybe once the character (regardless of type) does get to the hungry stage, then even those spells would have no effect on health until they eat something as well.

For example: "You perform a healing spell, but it does little good for your starving body. You must eat."

Doomchild

I would leave it as it is, its really hard to actually integrate a hunger system well into a game without them becoming annoying or redundant. One thing that i like from a few games ive played is that certain rare plants etc give you permanent stats upgrades.

I like the permanent stat upgrade thing, that sounds a good idea.

I'm still not sure about food generally - it just feels weird if some classes can totally avoid food after they level up a couple times. I guess I could build a hunger system and see how well it seems to work.

When I saw the pool I though that you were in a middle of starvation crisis as a college student. :P

Option b reminds me of Haven&Heart.
But I'd say that you should go for the option a. It's so much easier...

Same! ;D

Son of the King

As SW said, option b reminds me of Haven and Hearth. This is a good thing, I liked the food system there. But yeah, hunger systems are good things, and giving the player a good reason to vary their diet is good. Although there may be a better way than them directly affecting stats. I also like the idea of some rare herbs that permanently affect stats. You should combine the two...

COOKING ENGINE!

Jubal

I will get on this as soon as I've finished getting selection lists working properly...

There is now a hunger system - still not sure how to get food variation going properly though.
