This is the full event list for the 2016 Atheniad!

As usual, the list is split into Gaming and Judged contests. When the Atheniad starts on August 5, each contest will have its own thread created for players to organise matches and for the precise rules to be laid out regarding how entries are submitted et cetera. Judged contest entries may usually be submitted by email or forum PM. Until that point, please ask for any rules clarifications in this thread below.

GAMING

Rome: Total War (2005) - Require RTW to play
RTW 10k - For the classic 2005 game Rome: Total War, 10,000 denarii, straight-up fight to the death, knockout tournament.
RTW 1k - The micro-management event, two tiny expeditionary forces sizing off. Knockout tournament.
RTW 20k doubles - For the classic 2005 game, 20,000 denarii across 2 players, straight-up fight to the death, knockout tournament.

Mount & Blade: Warband - Require M&B: WB to play
M&B Warband Singles - Mano-a-mano knockout tournament
M&B Warband Grand Melee - Everyone piles in, last human standing wins.

0AD - Requires 0AD (freely downloadable here) to play
0AD - Knockout tournament.

Other - Require nothing more than an internet connection to play!
Chess - knockout tournament.
Scrabble - knockout tournament. If multiple matches then best losers can go through.
Settlers of Catan - knockout tournament. If multiple matches then best losers can go through.

JUDGED

Best Screenshot - for the most epic/exciting game screenshot
Funny Screenshot - the most amusing screenshot; additions of captions/speech bubbles are permitted!
Visual art - a painting and sculpting competition, with a theme/prompt
Slam Poetry - a judged performance of a poem of the entrant's choice
Poetry Contest - a poem writing competition, with a theme/prompt
Flash fiction Contest - a writing competition, with a theme/prompt, limit of 1000 words
