Basically, someone wrote a game which is an AI freehand dungeon-mastering you as a text adventure. It's... not perfect, but it's surprisingly good and I've managed to create some stories that would make perfectly valid pulp adventure plots with it.

https://www.aidungeon.io/start

A couple of my examples:

Spoiler

You are Phalacrocorax, a wizard living in the kingdom of Larion. You have a staff and a spellbook. You finish your long journey and finally arrive at the ruin you've been looking for. You look around and see that it's not much different than when you left it.

The only difference is now there are several skeletons wandering about the place. They don't seem to be attacking anyone though, so maybe they aren't hostile after all.

> Read spellbook and find some spells

You head into the ruined building and start reading through the book. It isn't hard to do since it has a lot of information on magic. There are also diagrams showing how certain spells work.

> Talk to a skeleton

You approach one of the skeletons and ask if he knows anything about magic. He tells you that he doesn't know anything, but then asks what kind of spellbook you're looking for. You tell him and he points out a small room with a desk in front of it.

> Ask the skeleton if he has a name

He says his name is Skeleton and that he does indeed have a name. He tells you that it's called "Phalanx" and that it was given to him by his master.

> Ask the skeleton if he has a name

He says his name is Skeleton and that he does indeed have a name. He tells you that it's called "Phalanx" and that it was given to him by his master.

> Ask Phalanx who his master is

Skeleton looks at you as if to say "What?" before replying: "My master?"

> "Yes, the one who gave the name Phalanx, and who summoned your spirit to inhabit this bony corpse. Who is your master?"

Skeleton looks at you as if to say "What?" before replying: "My master? Oh yes, I suppose you could call me my Master."

> "So you're a free skeleton?"

Skeleton nods.

> Ask Skeleton if he will come on a quest to discover the origins of magic

Skeleton seems surprised by your question. He replies: "A quest? What sort of quest?"

> "One with lots of magic in, I should imagine, my dear Skeleton. Come on, it'll be fun!"

You walk towards the door and open it. A young girl stands there, dressed in black robes. She stares at you with her cold eyes. Her hair is tied up in a ponytail and she wears a ring on each finger of her right hand.

> Ask the girl who she is

She smiles at you and says: "I am the Shadow Guard, Mistress of Shadows. We serve Lord Rostov."

> Ask the Shadow Guard why she is here

The Shadow Guard looks at you and then turns to look out of the window. She speaks slowly: "We were sent here by Lord Rostov to help you, but we haven't been able to do anything except watch from afar. The undead army is advancing on our home town."

> Tell the Shadow Guard that some of the undead, like Skeleton, appear to be free and might help us

The Shadow Guard nods. "Very well, I shall go speak to them myself." She walks away from you and opens the door again.

> Ask the Shadow Guard what her home town is

"It's called Dokkrus," she replies.

> Give the Shadow Guard a communication scroll in case she needs to contact me in future.

The Shadow Guard takes the scroll and reads it. She smiles and says: "Thank you, my love. It was very kind of you to give me this." Then she leaves through the door again.

> Tell Skeleton that we have to defeat an undead army

Skeleton nods. "Yes, yes, let's do it!"

> Use magic spells to learn where the undead army is

You cast a fireball into the air. The fire spreads out over the countryside and soon you see several large groups of skeletons marching down roads. They stop near houses and begin firing arrows at anyone inside them.

> Go to the old fairy mounds to look for allies

You head back to the old fairy mounds and start looking around for any other survivors. There are many of them, but they seem to be scattered about rather than working together as one unit. Some of them even try to attack you, but you easily dodge their attacks.

> Bring the survivors together

You surround yourself with your friends and cast a healing spell on each other. Soon all of them are feeling better too. Suddenly you hear voices coming from behind you. One voice sounds familiar...

> Turn to see who the voices are

You turn around and see a woman dressed in black robes standing nearby. She is smiling at you and waves. You wave back, but don't get closer to her. Instead you run towards the others who are still fighting off the undead attackers.

> Call to the Shadow Guard and Skeleton to come and help fight the undead

You call to the Shadow Guard and Skeleton to come help fight the undead. The two of them walk forward slowly, but then suddenly they both teleport away from you and the rest of your group.

> Cast a spell of protection to help the survivors

You quickly cast a protective shield around the survivors, which protects them from harm. A few moments later you hear screams outside and more undead attacking.

> Cast a spell to call upon the fairy creatures of the fairy mounds to come forth and help defeat the undead

You call upon the Fairy Mound Fairy Février to come forth and assist you. The fairy creatures immediately appear before you and begin casting powerful lightnings at the undead horde. They are successful in killing most of them, but there are still quite a few left alive.

> Blast fireballs at the remaining undead

You blast firebombs at the remaining undead. They explode in a huge ball of flame, burning through flesh and bone. You also notice that some of the survivors are starting to become frightened by this new development, so you decide to make sure they know that YOU will always be watching over them.

> Thank the Fevrier for their support and give them a four leaf clover and some flowers to show appreciation.

You thank the Fairy Mound Fairy Février for their assistance and give them a four leaf clover and some flowers to show your gratitude. They return your thanks with a smile.

> Count how many survivors are in my group

You count how many survivors are in your group, and find out that there are only six of you now. You also realize that you can no longer rely on the magic of the fairy mound anymore. It seems like it was just an act anyway.

> Lead my six survivors to the hills

You lead your six survivors to the hills where you tell them to hide until nightfall. When night falls, you tell them to go into hiding again. Unfortunately, the undead attack continues throughout the day and evening.

> Find a cave

You find a cave and barricade yourself inside. During the night, you hear moaning coming from within the cave. You figure that someone has escaped or been killed inside. You hope not though as you want to keep an eye on things tonight.

> Cast a spell to strengthen the barricade

You cast a magical barrier around the barricaded area. This works well enough, but you notice that the undead seem to be able to break through it easily. You also hear sounds of battle outside, so you decide to fortify the barricade further with more magical barriers.

> Light a fire and cook food

You light a fire and cook some meat. You then sit down to eat. Your stomach grumbles loudly, but you ignore it since you need to stay focused on surviving tonight.

> Talk to the six survivors

You look around and see that all the other survivors have either run off or died. There is one survivor who looks very tired, but otherwise unharmed. He is lying next to his dead friend's body, and he looks up when you approach him.

> Ask the survivor his name

You ask the survivor his name, and he tells you that he is called 'Finn'. He says that he had been sent here to scout ahead of time before heading back home.

> Ask Finn the Scout his skills.

You ask Finn the Scout about his skills. He tells you that he has been a scout for years, and has served in several battles. He mentions that he once saved your life by knocking over a boulder which would have crushed you if it hadn't fallen on your head instead.

> Thank Finn for saving my life

You thank Finn for saving your life. He smiles at you and thanks you before walking away. You feel like you should say something to him, but you don't know what...

> Give Finn food

You give Finn some food. He seems happy with it.

> Ask Finn about the cave

You ask Finn about the cave. He tells you that he doesn't remember much except that there was a large cavern where the sun never shines and that he saw strange creatures wandering around.

> Go deeper into the cave

You follow Finn deeper into the cave. Eventually you reach a huge chamber filled with stone pillars holding up the ceiling. The room is lit by torches hanging from the walls, and you can make out figures moving about inside it.

> Cast a spell of light

You cast a fireball spell at the figures inside the chamber. It burns them all to ashes instantly, but they still move about as if nothing happened.

> Look at the figures in the chamber

You look at the figures inside the chamber. They seem to be alive, and they're covered in long black hair. Their skin appears to be a dark brown color, but their eyes appear green.

> Ask the figures who they are

You ask the figures who they are. One of them speaks up, saying that they are one of many beings known as the Eternals. They were created by a being called Ymir, and were meant to serve him forever.

> Ask the Eternals why fire does not harm them

You ask the Eternals why fire does not hurt them. They reply that they are immune to flames due to their bodies' resistance to heat.

> Ask the Eternals who is their leader

You ask the Eternals who their leader is. They reply that it's an Eternal named Dendrin.

> Ask to talk to Dendrin

You request to speak to Dendrin, and they tell you that he will meet you in the next room.

> Go to the next room

You enter a small room filled with candles on the floor. There is also a table with several books, some of which you recognize as those belonging to Dendrin himself. A door leads further into the cave, and another door opens in front of you.

> Ask for Dendrin

You ask for Dendrin, and he appears before you. He looks very old, wrinkled and withered looking.

> Ask Dendrin how to defeat the undead horde

You ask Dendrin how to defeat the undead horde. He tells you that they must be killed using magic, and then resurrected using a ritual known as "The Ritual of Reanimation."

> Ask Dendrin what sort of magic could kill all of the undead

You ask Dendrin what sort of magic could kill all of the undead. He replies that it requires a powerful enough amount of mana to destroy them completely, but if used properly, can bring back the dead as well.

> Ask Dendrin what we need for the Ritual of Reanimation

You ask Dendrin what we need for the Ritual of Reanimation. He says that we should gather together all the souls from our enemies, and use them to create a new soul for each one of us.

> Tell Dendrin that that sounds really creepy

You tell Dendrin that that sounds really creepy. He agrees, and asks you to come with him so he can explain things more clearly.

> Go with Dendrin

You go with Dendrin to his study where he explains everything about the ritual. It involves gathering up all the souls of your enemies, and then bringing them back to life through a ritual called The Ritual of Reanimation.

> Ask where to get enough mana for the Ritual

You ask where to get enough mana for the Ritual. He tells you that it takes a lot of energy, but not nearly as much as you think. All you need is enough mana to raise yourself above ground level, and then just concentrate hard enough to make yourself float there.

> Thank Dendrin for his help

You thank Dendrin for his help. He thanks you too, and tells you to return home. When you arrive at the entrance of the temple, a large group of orcs attack you. They throw spears at you, arrows fly in your direction, and even a few spells hit you.

> Call for Finn to help fight the orcs

You call for Finn to help fight the orcs. He arrives on horseback, and rides into battle against the orcs. You don't know why, but when you see him riding out into battle, you feel a little better.

> Cast confusion on the orcs

You cast confusion on the orcs. The orcs become confused, and start running around in random directions. This works wonders against them, but you notice that some of them manage to escape your control.

> Throw acid at the orcs

You throw acid at the orcs. It doesn't do anything to them, and they continue to run away.

> Thank Finn for his help

You thank Finn for his help. He thanks you too, and tells you to return home. When you arrive at the entrance of the temple, a large group of orcs attack you. They throw spears at you, arrows fly in your direction, and even a few spells hit you.

> Cast Fireball

You cast Fireball at the orcs. It hits one orc in the chest, causing him to fall off his horse and onto the ground. The other orcs stop their attacks, and look at you strangely.

> Tell the orcs to go away

You tell the orcs to go away. They comply, and leave without you ever having to say another word again.

> Go into the temple

You enter the temple. There is an altar here, with a small golden statue of Dendrin standing next to it. A door lies to the right of the altar, leading outside. To your left is a room full of shelves filled with bookshelves.

> Cast magic to see what is happening far away in Dokkrus

You cast magic to see what is happening far away in Dokkrus. You can hear the sounds of fighting all over the city, and it seems like every house has its own militia defending it from marauding orcs or worse.

> Cast magic to see what happened to the undead

You cast magic to see what happened to the undead. You can see several skeletons lying dead on the floor, surrounded by a circle of green flames.

> Cast the Ritual of Reanimation

You cast the Ritual of Reanimation. Your body begins to reanimate, and you begin walking towards the altar. You reach it, and kneel down before Dendrin.

> Look at the statue of Dendrin

You look at the statue of Dendrin. His eyes seem sad, as if he knows something terrible will happen soon.

> Look in the library

You look in the library. The shelves are empty, but there is a bookcase that contains many more books than usual. You pick up a book, and read it aloud:
"The Empire was destroyed long ago."

> Read more about the Empire

You read more about the Empire. The Empire was once a great nation, ruled by a powerful emperor who had many loyal subjects under his rule. However, this empire fell due to internal strife and warring factions within it.

> Put the book back

You put the book back. It's not worth reading anymore. You take out some other books from the shelf, and read them aloud:
"A new empire will rise to replace the old one."

> Read more about the new Empire

You read more about the new Empire. This new empire will be led by a strong leader, and will bring peace to the land. They say that this ruler will be able to unite the people behind him, and defeat any enemies that may come against them.

> Read more about the strong leader

You read more about the strong leader. This ruler will be able to lead the people into victory over their enemies, and keep them safe from harm. He will also make sure that they live in a way that is fair for everyone.

> Leave the temple

You leave the temple. You wonder where your sister is, and why she didn't tell you anything when you were here yesterday. She would've been so happy to hear that you survived!

> Cast magic to find where my sister is

You cast magic to find where my sister is. There is no sign of her anywhere, but you know she must be somewhere near here. You walk further into the forest, until you see a large tree with several branches hanging off it.

> Look at the large tree

You look at the large tree. The trunk of the tree seems to reach all the way down to the ground, which makes it very easy for you to climb up onto it. You start climbing up towards a branch on top of the tree, and begin looking around for your sister.

> Look at the forest

You look at the forest. You can't believe how much you've seen! There are animals everywhere, trees, bushes, rocks and even grasses! What kind of animal is that? A lizard perhaps?

> Look at the animal

You look at the animal. It looks like a small cat, but bigger than most cats. Maybe it's a wildcat or tabby cat? Or maybe it's just an ordinary house cat?

> Pet the small cat-like creature

You pet the small cat-like creature. You feel its fur against your hand, and it purrs as if to thank you for doing something nice for it. It licks your face affectionately, before turning away and disappearing into the forest again.

> Follow the small cat-like creature

You follow the small cat-like creature. You continue walking through the forest, until you find yourself standing in front of a large stone door.

> Open the large stone door

You open the large stone door. Inside is a room full of bookshelves filled with old tomes. There are shelves lined up along one wall, and there are many chairs arranged around the room.

> Look for my sister

You look for my sister. You search the room carefully, but nothing is found. Perhaps she has gone back home already?

> Look at the old tomes

You look at the old tomes. They seem to be mostly about spells and incantations, though some of them are written in ancient languages that you don't understand. Most of these books are bound together by leather straps, so they're not going anywhere anyway...

> Learn a new spell

You learn a new spell. You pick up a book and begin reading it slowly, trying to memorize the words as best you can. Eventually, you finish the book and put it back down.

> Learn a teleportation spell

You learn a teleportation spell. You grab another book off the shelf and start reading it quickly, trying to memorize the words as best you can. Finally, you finish the book and put it back down.

> Teleport back to the temple

You teleport back to the temple. The door opens automatically, and you enter the room where you first met your sister. She stands behind her desk, looking out over the room with interest.

> Greet sister warmly

You greet sister warmly. "Hello, Sis."
"Oh! Hiya!" She beams at you enthusiastically. Her eyes light up when she sees you, and she runs forward to hug you tightly. Your mother walks in from outside, frowning at what just happened.

> Ask sister why our temple now worships Dendrin the Eternal

You ask sister why our temple now worships Dendrin the Eternal. "Our temple was once called 'The Temple of Fel', but we changed it to be more like Dendrin's temple because he is the true god."

> Tell my sister that I met Dendrin and talked to him about magic

You tell my sister that I met Dendrin and talked to him about magic. "He said that you should come here if you want to talk to him, since he wants to help you." My sister looks disappointed, but then smiles and hugs you again.

> Talk to mother

You talk to mother. "Mom, did you know that I've been talking to Dendrin?"
"Yes, yes, of course you have," Mother says. "I'm sure he would love to hear all about it."

> Bid farewell to family

You bid farewell to family. You walk into the hallway, closing the door behind you.

> Teleport to Dokkrus

You teleport to Dokkrus. You open the door and step through.

> Look around Dokkrus

You look around Dokkrus. The city is very similar to the one you remember, though there are many changes here too. There are no guards patrolling the streets anymore; they're either dead or have moved on to other things.

> Go to Dokkrus Castle

You go to Dokkrus Castle. It's much bigger than you remembered, and has many more rooms. You find yourself in a large hall filled with furniture and paintings. A grand piano sits near the front of the room, playing an old song by some unknown composer.

> Ask to see Lord Rostov

You ask to see Lord Rostov. He stands before you, looking pleased with himself. "Ah, a visitor! Welcome back, brother."

> Tell Lord Rostov that the undead threat is no more

You tell Lord Rostov that the undead threat is no more. "Well done, brother!" he says. "We can finally get rid of those ghouls and skeletons!"

> Ask Lord Rostov if the Shadow Guard is alright

You ask Lord Rostov if the Shadow Guard is alright. "They're fine, thank you dear," he says. "The battle was hard fought, but we won."

> Tell Lord Rostov about the prophecy of a new Empire

You tell Lord Rostov about the prophecy of a new Empire. "Oh, that's great news!" he exclaims. "I'll make sure to pass this message along to my lieutenants."

> Tell Rostov about Finn the Scout

You tell Rostov about Finn the Scout. "Finn? That boy?" he asks. "He's been missing for years now, I've tried to contact him every time I could..."

> Tell Rostov that I think Finn might be the prophesied new Emperor

You tell Rostov that you think Finn might be the prophesied new Emperor. "That sounds like him," he says. "What do you know of his life?"

> Ask Rostov about Finn's life

You ask Rostov about Finn's life. "Hmm... not much, really," he says. "But what do you want me to say?"

> Ask Rostov about Finn's childhood

You ask Rostov about Finn's childhood. "My brother told me how he used to play hide-and-seek all the time when he was little," he says. "And then one day, they took him away from us."

> Ask Rostov what would need to be done to crown Finn as the Emperor

You ask Rostov what would need to be done to crown Finn as the Emperor. "I don't know, dear brother," he says. "Just let it go."

> Ask Rostov if the Shadow Guard can come and help find Finn.

You ask Rostov if the Shadow Guard can come and help find Finn. He sighs. "No, dear brother," he says. "It's too dangerous."

> Thank Lord Rostov and leave the castle

You thank Lord Rostov and leave the castle. The next morning, you wake up alone on your throne room floor.

> Look around the room

You look around the room. There is nothing here except darkness and silence.

> Look outside

You look outside. A great dark sky stretches out before you, with no stars visible anywhere within its expanse. It seems as though there is nothing else in this world but itself, and yet something else is watching you from beyond the infinite void of space...

> Shout at the something else

You shout at the something else. It doesn't respond, so you continue shouting until you hear a voice calling back to you: "Who are you? What are you doing here?"

> "I don't know! I just want to get back to Dokkrus!"

You say "I don't know! I just want to get back to Dokkrus!" Then, you see a shadow appear behind you. You turn around and see that it is the same shadow that captured you years ago, and now stands before your throne room.

> "What does this vision mean, shadow? Why do I have a throne room in this strange place?"

You say "What does this vision mean, shadow? Why do I have a throne room in this strange place?" Then, you feel an invisible hand grab your shoulder. You turn around and see that it is the same shadow who imprisoned you years ago, and now stands before your throne room.

> Follow the mysterious shadow

You follow the shadowy figure through the halls of the castle. Eventually, you reach a large chamber where several other shadows stand waiting for their master. They all bow to him when they recognize him.

> Ask what is happening here

You ask "What is happening here?" The shadows reply, "This is our home. We live here every day. Our king lives here, and we serve him faithfully."

> Ask why they have brought me here

You ask "Why have they brought me here?" The shadows reply, "We were sent by the king to bring you back to his side."

> Ask who the King is

You ask "Who is the King?" The shadows reply, "The king is none other than yourself."

> Command the shadows to bring my magical staff

You order the shadows to bring your magical staff. They obey immediately, and soon you find yourself holding it in your hands. Suddenly, you realize that you can use the staff to move objects around inside the castle!

> Tell the shadows to move the castle to the centre of the old Empire.

You tell the shadows to move the castle to the centre of the old empire. Soon, you notice that there is a small hole in one wall of your new home. You then realize that you can also teleport anywhere within this new world!

> Tell the shadows that I will no longer be King, and that the age of Kings is over

You tell the shadows that I will no longer be King, and that the age of kings has passed. They all look at each other with surprise on their faces. One says "But, how can you be so sure? Surely not everyone believes as you do.

> "It is not about belief, my faithful servants. It is about the will to change the world for everyone."

You say "It is not about belief, my loyal subjects. It is about the will to change the world for everyone." You then point out that if you succeed, then your Kingdom would become a beacon of light in this dark age.

> Ask the shadows to freely elect me as their leader

You ask the shadows "Will you free me from this prison?" They all answer "Yes!" You then smile and thank them.

> Tell the shadows to go and raise the peasants to rebellion

You tell the shadows to go and raise the peasants to revolt against their oppressors. They agree instantly, and quickly begin raising up peasants throughout the land.

> Search for Finn with magic

You decide to search for Finn with magic. You cast a few spells, and suddenly you see Finn standing near some trees. He looks very tired though. You call him over, and he smiles at you warmly before going off into the forest.

> Follow Finn

You follow Finn into the woods. You hear his voice calling out to you. "I'm here, my love!" you call back happily. Then, you see something strange... A huge black wolf appears from behind a tree, and walks towards you!

> Greet the wolf

You greet the wolf "Hello, Finn." The wolf grins at you, and licks your face affectionately. You feel a surge of energy course through you as the wolves tongue touches your lips.

> Ask Finn, the Wolf Emperor's Heir, to help the peasants rise up and create a better world

You ask Finn "How did you get these wolves?" He answers "They were given to me by the Gods when they saw fit to bless me with such an animal. I was told that it could bring good fortune and protection to those who had been blessed by them."

> Tell Finn that he must help the peasants

You tell Finn "Finn, you must help the peasants. We need to form a new society where we can live in harmony with nature."

> Ask Finn whether he is on our side

You ask Finn "Are you on our side? Are you allied with us?" He says "Of course. We have always been allies."

> Tell Finn to go with his wolves and help the peasants in the west regions

You tell Finn "Go with your wolves and help the peasants in the west. It will be good for them."

> Thank Finn for his help

You thank Finn "Thank you for helping us. Now, let's go back to the castle."

> Teleport back to my castle

You teleport back to my castle. Suddenly, you notice that there is a large hole in the ground in front of you. You run forward cautiously, but soon realize that this isn't good...

> Look in the hole

You look in the hole and see a large group of orcs standing before you. They are dressed in leather armor, wielding long swords and axes. Their eyes glow red, their faces featureless, their bodies covered with scars and burns. They seem very angry.

> Ask the orcs who sent them here

You ask the orcs "Who sent you here?" One orc replies "We were sent by the King of the Orcs! He wants to speak with you!" Another adds "He has some business to discuss with you." A third says "The King himself."

> Ask where the King of the Orcs is

You ask the orcs "Where is the King of the Orcs?" The first orc replies "He lives in a castle called Castle Karstarken, just outside of Klyton. He wishes to meet with you."

> Teleport with the orcs to Castle Karstarken

You teleport with the orcs to Castle Karstarken. Suddenly, you hear a loud noise. Then, you feel an immense pain in your chest and collapse onto the floor. You gasp for breath as blood pours out of your wound and into the dirt below.

> Cast a healing spell

You cast a healing spell on yourself and try to stand up. You find that it hurts quite a bit, but you manage to do so.

> Look for what shot me

You look around and see nothing. Suddenly, you feel like someone is trying to kill you. You turn around and see a man holding a pistol aimed at your head.

> Cast fireball

You cast a fireball at the man. It hits him in the leg, causing him to fall backwards. He screams and drops his gun, but not before firing another shot into you.

> Call to the orcs to help

You call to the orcs to help you. They quickly rush over to the fallen man and begin beating him mercilessly until he dies.

> Ask the orcs for a place to rest

You ask the orcs for a place to rest. They agree and lead you back to your room. There, you lie down on your bed and close your eyes...

> Sleep

You sleep peacefully.

> Wake up and go to see the King of the Orcs

You awake from your sleep and notice that you are still lying on your bed. You walk over to the door and open it, only to be met by a very angry Orc.
"What are you doing here? We were supposed to meet in the city of Klyton!

> "Your messengers never told me to go to Klyton, sire."

"No, they didn't! I was sent here by my king!"

> Ask to go and see the King of the Orcs

"I don't know where you're getting this information from, but I am NOT your king! And if you think that's some sort of insult, then maybe you should learn how to take one for the team first before calling yourself such a thing."

> Ask the orc what his name is

"Phalanx. What's yours?"

> "Phalacrocorax"

"Oh. Well, I'm sorry about that. My name is Phalanx, sire."

> Ask Phalanx if he and his Orcs will join our war to rid the world of Kings.

"Yes, we will join you. But why do you need us now? Why not wait until after the battle at Fort Destiny?"

> "We will need all the troops we can now. We must defeat the lords and kings before they have time to react, or there will be a long and bloody war."

"Well, yes, but..."

> "What you and your orcs do will of course remain under your control. I merely request your aid, Phalanx."

"Very well, sire. Let us help you."

> Ask about the assassin who tried to kill me yesterday

"The assassin was none other than Lord Rostov himself. He wanted revenge against me for killing his son years ago."

> "That means that the Shadow Guard now has no master. We should find her."

"If she is still alive, then we can track her down. However, it would seem that she has been hiding out in the sewers of Klyton."

> "Muster your orcs. I will search for the Shadow Guard."

"Understood, sire."

> Go to Klyton

You head to Klyton and make your way through the city. Eventually you come across a large sewer entrance. You enter and soon find yourself in an underground maze of tunnels with many different types of creatures lurking around.

> Look at the creatures

A lot of them are rats, some are even giant spiders. Some of them attack by biting, others spit acid from their mouths and others fly up into the air and fire bolts of lightning.

> Cast a concealment spell so I can move unnoticed#

You cast a spell which makes you invisible and you quickly disappear from sight. You then start moving along the tunnel, keeping as low as possible. Suddenly you hear a voice calling out to you.
"Who are you?"

> Listen to see if the voice is the Shadow Guard

You turn around and see a man dressed in black robes standing nearby. The man looks like he is about your age, though he does not appear to be very muscular.
"I am Master Ebon, the leader of the Shadow Guard."

> Ask Ebon where Lord Rostov's Shadow Guard is, and explain that I have to find her.

"Ah yes, the Shadow Guard. They were hired by Lord Rostov to protect him last night. Unfortunately they failed miserably and killed him instead."

> Ask Ebon who the Shadow Guard are

"They are mercenaries hired by Lord Rostov to do his bidding. They specialize in assassination and sabotage. Their ranks include such notable people as the late Duke Orvyn, the late Countess Elise, and even my own father."

> Ask Master Ebon who the young Mistress of Shadows in the Guard, with five rings on her right hand, was.

"She is Lady Anise, the leader of the group. She also happens to be my daughter's lover."

> Ask to speak to Lady Anise

"Yes, I understand. Please follow me."
You walk along the dark tunnel and eventually reach a door. You open it and enter a small room with several beds in it. There is another door further down the corridor leading to another room.

> Go through the next door.

You step through the doorway and immediately feel a sense of dread wash over you. A shadow looms behind you, its cold eyes staring at you. It moves slowly towards you, seemingly waiting for an opportunity to strike.

> "Hello, Anise."

Anise turns around and smiles at you.

> Ask Anise to remove the shadow

You tell Anise to remove the shadow and she complies.

> Ask Anise and Ebon if the Shadow Guard will join the war to help the peasants

"The Shadow Guard has no intention of joining the war. We wish only to defeat the Empire."

> "The best way to stop there being an Empire is to create a free world without Kings or Emperors. This I have realised, and this is why we must fight."

Anise nods.

> "So will you help us? The aid of the Shadow Guard could be invaluable."

Anise looks at you sadly.

> Ask why they will not join the war to help people

"We have seen what the Empire does to those that oppose them. They kill them, torture them, enslave them, whatever it takes to maintain their hold on power. If we joined up with you then our numbers would increase greatly and we might even gain some advantage against the Empire."

> "Exactly. And I have dealt them a mighty blow by persuading the Heir to fight on the side of the peasants."

Anise nods again.

> "Come on. Bring the shadow guard together and let us go and defeat the kings before they can react."

You lead the way out of your room and down the stairs. As you walk along, you see other rooms filled with soldiers and peasants alike. There are also many more shadows than usual, but you do not pay any attention to them as you march forward.

> Ask Lady Anise and Master Ebon to lead their army up out of the sewers

You call for everyone to get ready and tell them to prepare themselves. You begin marching towards the sewers.

> Find Phalanx and his Orc army

You enter the sewers and immediately notice that the shadows are nowhere to be found. You look around and spot a group of orcs guarding a large sewer entrance. They seem to know something is wrong though, because they raise their weapons when you approach.

> Ask the Orcs what is happening

You approach the orc guards and speak softly.

> Ask where Phalanx is

They look over at you and nod.

> Go through the guarded entrance

You enter the sewers and soon find yourself in a small room full of shadows.

> Ask the shadows where the Shadow Guard disappeared to.

The shadows all look at each other and shake their heads.

> Ask the shadows how to leave the sewers

All the shadows agree to help you and quickly disappear into the darkness of the tunnels. You follow them and soon reach an exit leading outside. The shadows lead you back inside, which seems like it leads deeper underground...

> Go deep underground

You follow the shadows deeper into the sewers until you finally come across a huge cavernous space. It appears to be made entirely of stone, with only one exception: A massive hole in the center of it. In front of this opening lies a figure wearing black robes and holding a longsword.

> Talk to the figure

You walk forward and kneel down before the figure. He raises his sword as if he was going to attack you, but then looks away from you and begins chanting some sort of incantation.

> Ask the figure who he is

He smiles at you and nods.

> Ask what the incantation will do

He begins to chant something that sounds very strange. Suddenly, a large explosion occurs in the area around him. He screams and falls backwards out of your line of sight.

> Look in the large hole

You see a large hole appear in the ground, which has been filled with water. You also notice that there is now a thick layer of mud covering everything.

> Look in the water

You examine the water and note that it's clear, though not crystal-clear. There is no sign of life anywhere near it.

> Examine the water for magic

You try to cast a spell on the water, but find that it doesn't work. The mud prevents any sort of magical effects from being created. You can feel your mind beginning to fade away.

> Leave the cavern

You turn around and begin walking towards the entrance of the sewers. As you approach, you hear a voice calling out to you.

> Look for the voice

You turn around and see a woman dressed in white standing right behind you. She walks up to you and puts her hand on your shoulder.

> Look at the woman

She smiles at you and waves her hand. A portal opens up and she disappears into it. You follow her through.

> Look around

As you walk through the portal, you find yourself in a room made entirely of glass. It looks like an aquarium, except instead of fish and coral, there are small creatures crawling all over the place.

> Examine the woman

The woman appears to be a young girl about your age. Her skin is pale and smooth, almost transparent. She wears a blue dress with gold trimming, and carries several rings on her fingers.

> Ask the woman her name

"My name is Nalia," she says. "I'm here to help you."

> Ask Nalia how she can help me

"Well, I don't know much about this world or its inhabitants, so I'll just tell you what my powers are," she says. "First off, I can teleport you anywhere within the city walls."

> "What else?"

"Okay, now that we've got that out of the way, I can also create illusions. If you want to make something appear or disappear, I can do it."

> "Where are you originally from? Are you human?"

"No, I'm not human. My species doesn't reproduce sexually; our race has been extinct for centuries."

> Ask Nalia what she knows about the war we are fighting

"Oh, it's nothing really. We're just trying to survive these last days before the Great Lich Lord comes back."

> Return to Klyton with Nalia

Nalia leads you to a large building. Inside is a giant crystal ball, which shows images of various people and places. The only one that catches your eye is a man in armor holding two swords. He seems familiar...

> Look at Finn in the crystal ball

You look at the image of Finn and see him standing next to a huge crystal orb. His face is distorted by his helmet, but he is clearly alive. He smiles at you as if greeting you, though his eyes seem very sad.

> Look to see how the peasants are faring in the war against the kings

You turn around and walk away from the crystal ball. A crowd gathers behind you, some excited to hear more about Finn, while others are less enthused.

> Talk to the crowd about overthrowing the kings

"We need to overthrow the king!" someone shouts.

> Command the Klyton militia to muster

"I want all the militia gathered up here!" you shout.

> Find Phalanx and his orcs

The crowd starts to disperse when you enter the room. There are several orcish figures, who stand near the door. They don't move an inch until they see you.

> Ask to see Phalanx

"Phalanx! What do you think you're doing here?"

> Explain that it's time for the orcs to join our march to war

"Yes, yes, I know! It's time for us to join the fight!"

> Bring the army together outside the city

"Let's go! We'll take out those fools inside the city!"

> Use magic to find where the Kings have their army

You quickly cast your mind over the map. The King has a large force stationed on the southern borders of the city. You can sense them even without using your powers, so you concentrate hard to get a good read on their location.

> Ask Phalanx which city the King will have his army near

"That one!" he says. "It's called Fort Destiny."

> Tell Nalia to cast an illusion to conceal my whole army

"What? Why would we do that?"

> "Surprise!"

"We've been having a lot of problems with the Kings lately. We need to be ready for any eventuality."

> "Exactly. So turn the soldiers invisible, please, Nalia."

Nalia nods her head as she casts a shimmering barrier around the entire army. She then turns to you.

> March for Fort Destiny

The two of you move at a fast pace towards Fort Destiny. As soon as you reach the gates, they open up and reveal nothing but a few guards standing there. They don't look like they're expecting anyone to come through either.

> Tell our army to remain behind a hill

"Hold on, hold on! We won't make it if we stay here!"

> Look for the Royal Army

Phalanx moves forward slowly, looking for the Royal Army. He stops when he sees a group of about thirty men dressed in bright red armor. They seem to be holding spears and shields, but they aren't attacking him or anything.

> "Where is the King?"

They all stop and turn to stare at you.

> Cast a dispelling spell, to reveal anything that was previously invisible

You quickly cast a magic spell that causes everything within your range of effect to become visible again. This includes the soldiers who were hidden by the shield, as well as those hidden behind the hill. The only thing that remains invisible is Phalanx himself.

> Look for the King's army

As you continue to search for the King's army, you see several groups of men moving along the road. It looks like they're heading towards Fort Destiny.

> Move Phalanx and his orcs to block the road

You move Phalanx and his orcs to block the road. Then you order them to keep their distance from the other groups of soldiers.

> Ask Nalia if she has any idea what happened to the King

Nalia shakes her head.

> Tell a militiaman to go and take a message to Finn and the peasants.

A soldier runs off to fetch Finn and the peasants. You sigh with relief when you hear that the King's army hasn't arrived yet.

> Prepare barricades against the King's army

You begin building barricades against the enemy. The militia will help you with this task.

> Ask Nalia about the Great Lich Lord

Nalia tells you that it is an ancient being of great power. She says that it can only be killed by one who has been touched by its essence, and that only then can it truly die.

> "So another undead could kill it?"

She nods.

> Magically search for Skeleton, the free-willed skeleton.

You find Skeleton, but he is nowhere to be found. He must have run away.

> Call the shadows from my castle, and send them to find Skeleton.

The shadows arrive at your castle and inform you that Skeleton has fled. They also tell you that they are not sure where he went, so they cannot help you either.

> Continue to wait for the King's army to arrive at Fort Destiny

You wait patiently for the King's army to arrive at Fort Destiny. When it does, you call on all your forces to attack the King's army.

> Tell Phalanx the orc to go and kill the king while invisible

Phalanx the orc appears before you and begins his assault on the King. He manages to slay him easily, though you are glad that he was able to do so without getting hit himself.

> Tell the King's army that their King is dead

You tell the King's army that their King is dead. The orcs and goblins of the Kingdom of Larion rejoice.

> Declare that this is now the Republic of Larion and that they are all free citizens

You proclaim that this is now the Republic of Larion and that everyone is free to live as they please. The King's troops are confused by your actions, but accept your decision.

> Ask Nalia if the Great Lich Lord was there at the time of the Old Empire.

Nalia confirms that the Great Lich Lord was indeed there. She asks what happened next.

> Tell the armies to disperse to their homes

You order the armies to disperse to their homes. This causes some confusion among the soldiers, who wonder why you would want them all to leave. Some even think you wish for them all to die, which is false. You simply wish for them all to get back home safely.

> Wait for Finn to arrive

You wait for Finn to arrive. After a few days, you hear his voice again. He tells you that he has managed to find Skeleton and that he will take care of everything here.

> Thank Finn, and recommend that he run for the new Senate of Larion

You thank Finn, and suggest that he should run for the new Senate of Larion. He agrees with you and says that he will be heading towards Fort Destiny.

> Teleport to my castle with Nalia, Phalanx, and Skeleton.

You teleport to my Castle with Nalia, Phalanx, and Skeleton. They say they will head straight to Fort Destiny.

> Ask them to stay here

You ask them to stay here. They agree, saying that they can help you out more than anywhere else.

> Name the castle Castle Cormorant

You name the castle Castle Cormorant. It is an old name from when the original inhabitants were human like you, but then became undead after being buried alive. They say it suits you well.

> Tell Nalia that I think the Old Empire was really ruled by the Great Lich Lord

You tell Nalia that I think the Old Empire was really ruled by the Great Lich Lord. She says she doesn't believe it, but accepts your word on it.

> Tell Skeleton that we need his help to kill the Great Lich Lord.

You tell Skeleton that we need his help to kill the Great Lich Lord. He agrees, saying he will do whatever you want him to do.

> Command the shadows of Castle Cormorant to find the Great Lich Lord.

You command the shadows of Castle Cormorant to find the Great Lich Lord. The shadows follow your orders and search everywhere for him, but they don't manage to find anything useful.

> Ask Nalia if the Great Lich Lord might have a base in another plane.

You ask Nalia if the Great Lich Lord might have a base in another plane. She says she thinks so, but there isn't much information about such places on this world.

> Go to the old cave full of books in the forest

You go to the old cave full of books in the forest. There are many strange creatures inside, but you manage to get rid of most of them.

> Look for the oldest books in the cave

You look for the oldest books in the cave. There are several ancient texts, but you aren't able to read any of them because they are written in a language that only you could understand.

> Ask Nalia to read the old books

You ask Nalia to read the old books. She does so, and tells you that it is very hard to understand what they write.

> Ask Nalia if they mention the Great Lich Lord

You ask Nalia if they mention the Great Lich Lord. She says no, but that there is a book called "The Book of Necromancy" which mentions something about him.

> Read the Book of Necromancy

You read the Book of Necromancy. It's an ancient book, but you manage to learn some things from it. They include:

The Great Lich Lord has been dead for centuries, and his undead army is still active.

> Read about what the Great Lich Lord is planning

You read about what the Great Lich Lord is planning. It includes:
He wants to conquer all of existence by summoning hordes of demons into our dimension, using their powers to create a portal between dimensions.

> Read about where the Great Lich Lord is now

You read about where the Great Lich Lord is now. It includes:
He has summoned a demon horde to invade our world, and he intends to use them as soldiers against us. He also plans to summon more demons from other planes of existence, but he hasn't managed yet.

> Scry where the demon horde is

You scry where the demon horde is. You see them heading towards your location. The Great Lich Lord will be victorious!

> Go to meet the demon horde

You go to meet the demon horde. You find out that they are led by a huge black dragon who looks like he can kill you with one blow.

> Command Nalia to turn us invisible

You command Nalia to turn us invisible. We are invisible!

> Go through the demons secretly, whilst invisible

You sneak through the demons quietly, while invisible. You reach the dragon alone, and he attacks you immediately. He smashes his claw down on your head, killing you instantly.

> Rise as an undead mage, in my cormorant feather cloak

> Tear the dragon's soul from its body

You go with Skeleton to the Great Lich Lord. He is waiting for you there. You fight him, and win easily.

> Destroy the Great Lich Lord forever

> Look at the battlefield

You look at the battlefield, where you see your army fighting against the great Lich Lord, who has been defeated by you. The battle seems hopeless, but then...

> Cast the Ritual of Reanimation

You cast the Ritual of Reanimation on yourself, resurrecting you as a lich lord. Your new power allows you to defeat all his minions, and finally kill him.

> Ask to talk to Lady Anise

You ask to speak to Lady Anise about what happened in her castle. She agrees, and tells you that she will be able to help you.

> Ask the Mistress of Shadows to kill me, for nobody should have the power of a Lich Lord.

The Mistress of Shadows agrees to do it, and you die.

- YOU DIED! GAME OVER! -

Spoiler

You are Armalia, a peasant living in the kingdom of Larion. You have a pitchfork and a nothing else. You wake up and begin working in the fields. You see a man walking towards you with a pitchfork in his hand. He looks at you and says "Hello, I am Armalia."

"What do you want?" you ask.

"I need your help," he replies.

> inventory

You look down at your belongings and notice that you don't have any food or water. You also notice that you aren't wearing anything but your underwear.

> Help man

"Okay, okay, I'll help you," you say.

> Obtain clothing

The man takes off his shirt and throws it to you. It is very tight on him and he can barely move around without it falling off.

He then puts on some pants and a pair of shoes before sitting down next to you.

> Hug man

You hug the man tightly as you put your arm around him. The two of you sit there for awhile before the man gets up and walks away.

You walk back home feeling sad about what happened.

> Enter home

You go inside and find that everything is still the same. There is no one here except yourself and Armalia. She has changed into something more comfortable than her old clothes.

She notices you looking at her and smiles at you, causing you to smile back.

> Accuse Armalia of being a doppelganger

"Are you a doppelganger?" she asks.
"No!" you reply.
"Then who are you? What's going on?"

> "You are the doppelganger!"

Armalia stares at you for a moment before saying "Yes, I am the doppelganger. And what's going on?"

> "I guess we're twins now."

"We're twins?" Armalia asks.

> "Absolutely."

Armalia looks surprised by this statement.

> Put on peasant dress

You put on the peasant dress and head out to meet Armalia.

> Be Armalia

As soon as you step outside, Armalia appears beside you. She looks like a different person from when you first met her. Her hair is longer and she has a few freckles on her face instead of none at all.

> Ask Armalia for a quest

"What kind of quest?" Armalia asks.

> "An exciting quest!"

Armalia nods and says "Okay, let's get started then."

> "What should I do?"

Armalia thinks about it for a moment and replies "Go find some people that are missing. Find out where they went to and then go there."

> "Tell me about the missing people"

Armalia tells you about the missing people and their last known whereabouts.

> Go to whereabouts

You go to the location that Armalia told you about. The place is deserted so you don't see any signs of life either. It doesn't look like anyone ever lived here before. There are no buildings or anything around it either.

> Search location

You start searching the area but you can't find anything. You know that something must be here somewhere, maybe even dangerous, but you just can't find it.

> Jump up and down

You decide to try jumping up and down to see if you can find anything. Unfortunately, this only makes things worse. You fall off your horse and break several bones in your body. When you wake up, Armalia is gone and you're left alone with the dead horses.

> Make shelter for the night

You decide to make a small shelter for the night since you've been having trouble sleeping. You set up a tent and put some hay inside it. This way, you won't have to worry about getting hungry anymore.

> Butcher the dead horses

You decide to take one of the dead horses and chop it into pieces. You gather all the meat from the carcasses and cook them together with some vegetables. This way, you'll never again run out of food again!

> Eat the cooked horse stew

After eating the meal, you feel better than you have in days. You also remember why you came here in the first place. You think back on what Armalia said and realize that she was right; there really is an evil force out there trying to destroy everything!

> Find a weapon

You decide to go outside and see if you can find a weapon that might help you fight this evil force. You head over to the nearest tree and begin chopping at it with your sword. After cutting through several branches, you manage to get enough wood for a simple axe.

> Take sword

You grab the axe and swing it at the tree. It breaks through the bark easily and you cut deep into the trunk. You then pull yourself up by your arms to stand above the tree.

> Go back to my tent

You return to your tent and tell Armalia that you need to talk. She tells you that she's going to stay behind with her family because they're more likely to survive a nuclear attack than you will.

> Sleep for the night

You rest for the night and try to figure out how you're going to protect yourself from whatever this evil force is. You spend most of your time thinking about ways that you could possibly kill it, but no matter what you do, it seems like its too strong.

> Dream of mammoths

You start dreaming of mammoths. They seem to be attacking you and you don't know why, but they keep coming. Eventually, they overwhelm you completely and crush your skull.

> Wake up

You wake up and realize that you haven't eaten anything for quite awhile. You wonder where Armalia went off to, so you search for her. When you finally find her, she looks very tired and has not slept well last night either.

> Eat more horse stew

You eat more horse stew and feel much better. You've been training yourself to use the sword, but now you want something stronger. You ask Armalia if she knows of any good weaponsmiths in the city.

> Talk to the someone who wants to offer his services

You talk to the person who offered his services and he seems happy to do it, but warns you that you'll need to pay him double for this service. You agree and he gives you a large sum of money.

> "What are your skills, sir?"

You say "What are my skills? I'm just a simple farmer."

> "Person who offered services, what is your name? Are you called Aberforth, or Rubadak, or Tarkalot"?

You say "Person who offered services, what is my name? Are we called Aberforth, Rubadak, or Tarkalot?"

> Ask man his name

You ask the man his name and he answers "Aberforth" or something similar. You don't know anything about him though so you don't remember it.

> Ask Aberforth about his skills

> Give Aberforth a sword, 20 silver coins, and a cow

You give Aberforth a sword, 20 silver coins, and a cow. He's very pleased by this gift.

> Leave Xanfalia with Aberforth

You decide to stay in Xanfalia with Aberforth. He tells you that he has a friend named Grolik who lives nearby and will be willing to take you there if you need to go somewhere quickly.

> Talk to Grolik

You talk to Grolik and he agrees to take you there. He also mentions that he can get you some horses as well.

> Ask Grolik where the place is

You ask Grolik where the place is and he tells you that it's near the village of Klyton. It looks pretty far away from here, but then again it's not really meant to be traveled too much anyway.

> Go to Klyton with Grolik and Aberforth

You go to Klyton with Grolik and Aberforth. The two of them tell you that they'll be able to get you there fairly quick, but they'd prefer if you didn't bother them while doing it.

> Sing songs on the journey

While you're traveling with Grolik and Aberforth, you begin singing songs to pass the time. They seem quite amused by this.

> Sing a song about a goat that drinks beer

You sing a song about a goat that drinks beer. This seems to amuse them even more.

> Ask Aberforth and Grolik about dangers on the road

While you're traveling with Grolik and Aberforth, you ask them about dangers on the road. They say that there aren't any dangerous animals or monsters out there, just people trying to kill each other for whatever reason.

> Continue to Klyton

After a few days of travel, you arrive at the village of Klyton. There are several taverns and inns in the area, so you decide to find one that serves ale. You see an old man sitting outside drinking a mug of ale.

> Ask old man about ancient evil

You ask the old man what ancient evil was like and he says that it wasn't very bad, though he did mention that it had been around since before the first men were born. He goes on to say that it would probably be best if you never heard of such things ever again.

> Ask old man about recent evil

You ask the old man about recent evil and he tells you that it isn't all that bad either. He goes on to say that most of it comes from greedy merchants who want to make a profit, but don't care about anything except making money.

> Give Grolik and Aberforth beer

You give Grolik and Aberforth beer. While this seems to please them, it doesn't seem to amuse you as much.

> Listen around the tavern for clues about evil

You listen around the tavern for clues about evil. After a couple hours of listening, you hear some noise coming from inside the tavern. A group of bandits enter and start attacking everyone. They take your friend's horse and run off into the woods leaving behind their stolen goods.

> Chase the bandits into the woods with Grolik and Aberforth

You chase the bandits into the woods with Grolik and Aberforth. The bandits manage to escape, but you and Aberforth get lost in the forest while chasing after them. Eventually, you come across a small river where they took your friend's boat and fled back to Klyton.

> Search for river spirits

You search for river spirits. After a day of searching, you find a large tree which has two figures hanging upside down from its branches. One is wearing a green robe and holding a staff made of wood, while the other is dressed in black robes and holds a long sword made of bone.

> Talk to the upside down figures

You talk to the upside down figures. They tell you that they are called the Tree Spirits and that they can only communicate through dreams.

> Sleep beneath the tree

You sleep beneath the tree. The next morning, you wake up and realize that you have no idea how you got there or why you woke up under a tree.

> Ask to the Tree Spirits why I am here

You ask to the Tree Spirits why you are here. They tell you that they don't know anything about you, so they cannot answer your question. However, they do say that if you could dream of something good then perhaps one of them will help you.

> Dream about dormice

You dream about dormice. When you wake up, you realize that the Tree Spirits were right and that they helped you. You now have a new job at the inn!

> Talk to Aberforth

You talk to Aberforth. He tells you that he would like to see his old friends Grolik and Aberforth again, but not until tomorrow night when they all gather together in the Inn.

> Serve pints to people at the Inn

You serve pints to people at the Inn. After a few days, you notice that the Tree Spirits have left Klyton and gone somewhere else. You wonder what happened to them.

> Search the Inn's cellar

You search the Inn's cellar. After a couple of hours, you finally find what you're looking for: a pile of bones. You pick one up and it shatters on your hand. You curse yourself for being careless before!

> Examine bones

You examine the bones. There are many different kinds of bones here, including human ones. Some look very old and some seem fresh.

> Draw sword

You draw your sword and begin examining the bones. One of them is a young girl with long blonde hair and green eyes. She has three fingers on each hand, two toes on her right foot, and four teeth in her mouth.

> Look for Innkeeper

You look around the room and see that there is a door leading into an alcove behind the bar. You open it and enter...

>

> Look

You look inside the alcove and see a man dressed in black sitting on a chair by himself. He looks over at you and smiles.

> Ask man about bones

You ask the man about the bones. He says that they belong to a child who was killed in a hunting accident. The hunter had been drunk and didn't realize that he'd hit someone. When he saw the body, however, he realized something wasn't quite right and ran off screaming.

> Ask man who he is

> Ask Roldan about the murder

> Ask Roldan why Lord Rostov is dead

You ask Roldan why Lord Rostov is dead. He tells you that he can't say either because Lord Rostov died years ago and no one knows what happened to him after that. You tell him to come out from behind the wall and then attack him with your axe.

> Attack Roldan with my sword

You attack Roldan with my sword. As you do so, you hear some noise coming from the other side of the wall.

> Listen to noise in the wall

You listen to the sound of voices coming from the other side of the wall. They seem to be arguing about something and then shouting at each other before going silent again.

> Listen more carefully

You continue listening to the sounds of conversation in the walls. Eventually you hear a woman crying for help and another man yelling at her to stop. It seems like they're having an argument over whether or not she should go back home or stay here in the village.

> Break down the wall

As you continue listening to the voices, you realize that someone has broken through the wall. The cries of the woman get louder and louder until eventually she breaks down into tears and runs off crying.

> Run after the woman

You rush after the woman as she runs away. She turns around and yells at you to stop chasing her but you don't listen.

> Calm the woman down

You calm the woman down by telling her that everything will be okay. When you tell her this, she smiles and says that everything will be alright. You smile back and tell her that she'll make a good wife for you.

> Ask the woman her name

You ask the woman's name which she gives you. You tell her that you love her and hug her tightly. She replies by hugging you back.

> Ask what the woman's name is

You ask the woman her name which she gives you. You tell her that it's nice to meet you too and kiss her on the cheek.

> "May I call you Jalienta?"

You say "May I call you Jalienta?". She tells you that she doesn't mind and asks if there's anything else she can do for you.

> Give Jalienta silver coins

You give Jalienta some silver coins. She thanks you and tells you to keep them safe for when she gets married someday.

> Ask Jalienta about her skills.

You ask Jalienta about her skills which she tells you that she's a very skilled hunter. You tell her that your daughter would be lucky to marry one of these people.

> Buy a bow and arrows

You buy a bow and arrows from Jalienta. She thanks you again and tells you to keep them safe for when she gets married someday.

> Give Jalienta the bow and arrows

You give the bow and arrows to Jalienta who happily takes them. She tells you that they're going to help her hunt better than any other man could ever hope to.

> Ask Jalienta about Lord Rostov

You ask Jalienta about Lord Rostov whom she mentions that he was a great warrior and a fine husband. You tell her that you wish him luck in his future endeavors.

> Ask Jalienta where Lord Rostov was last seen

You ask Jalienta where Lord Rostov was last seen which she says he went hunting with his father. You tell her that you'll be sure to find out more information about this later but for now you should get back home as soon as possible.

> Tell Jalienta that Lord Rostov was a murderer

You tell Jalienta that Lord Rostov was a murderer which causes her to cry. You apologize profusely and then leave the house.

> Go into the woods

You enter the forest and start walking towards the city of Zal. The trees seem to grow at an unnatural rate so it takes quite awhile before you reach the edge of town. You walk through several small villages until you come across a large wooden sign saying 'ZAL'.

> Find a tavern in Zal

You walk up to the tavern and see that it is closed. There are no signs telling you what time it is either. You look around and notice that there isn't much activity outside. It seems like everyone has gone home or been sent away by their parents for the day.

> Look at the streets of Zal

You look at the streets of Zal and notice that they are empty. You also note that all the houses appear to be made of wood. It doesn't take long before you realize why; nobody lives here anymore.

> Break into an abandoned house

You decide to break into an abandoned house. You knock on the door and hear some noise inside. When you open the door, you see a woman sitting in bed crying hysterically. She looks like she's been beaten badly enough that her face is swollen shut and her eyes are bloodshot.

> Ask woman what happened

You ask the woman what happened and she explains that her husband had just left her when she heard strange noises coming from the woods nearby. She ran after him only to fall down a well and break both of her legs. Her children were taken care of by a local family but eventually died of starvation.

> Ask woman what her name is

You ask the woman her name and she tells you that she's called Eliza. You thank her for helping you and leave the house.

> Help dress Eliza's wounds

You help Eliza put on bandages and wrap them around her leg. She asks if you're going to kill her husband but you assure her that you won't since he might still be alive somewhere. You promise to keep an eye out for him though and let her know if anything happens again.

> Ask Eliza why Zal is abandoned

You ask Eliza why Zal is abandoned and she says that it's because the king killed his father and married his mother instead. She goes on to say that the village was destroyed during one of these weddings.

> Ask Eliza where the King is

You ask Eliza where the King is and she says that he lives in a castle near the center of town. You tell her to get back to work and try not to worry about him too much.

> Go to the castle of Zal

You head to the castle of Zal and enter it. The first thing you see is a large stone wall with several holes in it. You wonder how the hell anyone could possibly climb through those holes so you start looking around for something else to use as footholds.

> Look for a library

You search the area around the walls and find a small library which seems like the perfect place to hide. You quickly make your way to it and lock yourself in.

> Read books

You begin reading books until you feel tired. Eventually you come across a book titled "The Lost Prince". It's written by a man named William who claims that he met this prince years ago while searching for another lost princess.

> Look for magic books

You continue to read the book until you feel tired again. This time you decide to look for other magical books. You find many and they all seem very interesting but none of them interest you enough to keep you awake long enough to finish reading them.

> Sleep

You fall asleep and wake up in the morning feeling refreshed. You then realize that you don't remember doing any of this. You also notice that you've gained weight. Your belly has gotten bigger and your legs are covered with bruises from being beaten by your new captors.

> Talk to captors

You attempt to speak to the people who captured you but they just ignore you. They even call you names when they think no-one is listening. You feel scared and helpless at the same time.

> Look around

You walk over to the nearest tree and take a peek out into the forest. You can see some horses in the distance and you know that there must be somewhere nearby where you can run away to.

> Steal horse

You sneak onto one of the horses and ride towards the direction of the village. You hope that you'll find someone there who will help you escape. Unfortunately, you soon learn that this isn't going to be an easy task.

> Ride to Zal

You manage to get on the back of a horse and gallop away from the village. However, you're not far off course when you reach a river. You don't want to risk getting your leg caught in the current so you slow down until it disappears completely.

> Call upon river spirits for help

You call upon the river spirits for help as you try to swim upstream. The spirits do not respond immediately though. In fact, they don't respond at all. You wait patiently and eventually you hear their voice once more...

> Talk to river spirits

You call upon the river spirits for help as you try to swim upstream. The spirits do not respond immediately though. In fact, they don't respond at all. You wait patiently and eventually you hear their voice once more...

> Swim to other bank

You swim downstream and finally reach another bank where you find a small group of villagers watching you intently. One of them approaches you and asks if everything is alright since he's worried about your well being.

> Ask how far it is to Zal

The villager tells you that it would be best if you asked him how far it is to Zal instead since he doesn't know either. He says that he thinks it'd only be a few miles away and offers to lead you there.

> Go to Zal with the villager

You agree to his offer and tell him where you want to go. He takes you there and shows you the way which seems pretty straight forward. You make your way through the woods and eventually arrive at a large stone wall with a gate in front of it.

> Thank the villager

You thank the villager and then leave the village behind. It's been awhile since you've had any real adventures like this so you feel really happy.

A month passes and you continue to travel along the same path.

> Go to the castle of Zal

You decide to take a different route now and head towards the city of Zal. You see several villages along the way but no sign of anyone. Eventually you come across a large castle and after much deliberation, you decide to enter it.

> Search for the main library

You walk inside the castle and search around for anything useful. Unfortunately, you find nothing of interest. After looking around some more, you realize that you haven't eaten or slept in days so you decide to sleep outside the castle grounds.

> Go to Eliza's house

You wake up and realize that you're hungry so you start walking back to Eliza's house. You don't get very far before you run into someone who looks just like her! She greets you warmly and introduces herself as Roldan.

> Ask Roldan if she is related to Eliza

Roldan is surprised by your question and says that she isn't. She explains that she has two older brothers named Tylir and Talia. They were both heroes of old times and she grew up believing that one day they would meet again to fight evil together.

> Ask Roldan if they can help kill the King

Roldan is still surprised by your question and says that she can't do it. She also mentions that she has to go to the bathroom and will need some time to think about what to do next.

> Sleep outside Roldan's house

You sleep outside Roldan's house for a couple hours until you hear footsteps coming from the direction of the castle. You quickly rush out of your tent and follow them. When you reach the edge of the forest, you see three figures dressed in black cloaks approaching the castle.

> Shout at the figures

You yell at the figure wearing the hooded cloak and he turns around. The other two figures are standing near the entrance of the castle. One of them is holding a staff while the other wields an axe.

> Ask the figures who they area

The figure with the staff points at you and asks "Who are you?"

> "I am Armalia, a peasant woman. I seek to bring the King to justice for murdering his father."

The figure wielding the axe nods and says "Yes, we know that name. We heard it mentioned many times when we were children growing up in our village." He then points at the figure with the hooded cloak and says "That's Roldan. His family was heroes too."

> "Why is everyone called Roldan? Why don't you have normal names like Burdigala, Elveronia, Catoblepas, Orathos, Vurtakh, Ulvor, or Quryantis?"

The figure with the staff smiles and says "We call him Roldan because he was once a hero of ours. He is now known only as the murderer of his parents and brother. But we remember him fondly, even though he murdered us all."

> Ask the figure with the staff if he is dead

The figure with the axe shrugs and says "No, but I'm sure he won't be long." He walks over to Roldan and puts his hand on his shoulder. Then he goes over to Eliza and hugs her tightly.

> Greet Eliza

Eliza looks up at you and smiles. She asks "Are you ok?"

> Ask the figure with the staff what his name is

The figure with the staff smiles and says "His name is Grolik. He is my husband."

> Ask the staff figure to come and defeat the King

Grolik smiles and nods. He walks over to the castle gate and opens it. A few guards stand behind them watching them go inside. They enter the castle and walk past several rooms before reaching a large room filled with furniture. There are also bookshelves lining both walls of this room.

> Look for magic books

Eliza takes out some books from her bag and begins looking through them. She finds a book titled "Magic" and reads it aloud. It seems to be about how to use magic without using any kind of energy.

> Read "Magic" and learn it

You sit down on one of the chairs and begin reading the book aloud. The words seem to flow easily from your lips. Soon you find yourself speaking in tongues, levitating objects, creating illusions and much more! Suddenly you feel very tired and fall asleep...

> Dream of the Tree Spirits

You wake up and realize you are still dreaming. You can't believe you just did that! You try to get back to sleep, but the dream keeps coming back. It feels so good!

> Dream of horse stew

You wake up and realize you are still dreaming. You can't believe you just ate horse stew! You try to get back to sleep, but the dream keeps coming back. It feels so good!

> Destroy the dream

You grab your sword and shield and head into the dream. As soon as you do, you feel a sharp pain in your chest. You turn around to see the figure with the axe standing there holding a dagger to your throat.

> Kick Grolik in the nadgers

You kick Grolik in the nuts and he falls backwards onto the floor. He screams in agony and begs you not to kill him, but you don't listen to him. You stab him repeatedly until he dies.

> Find Eliza

You search the castle and find Eliza sitting at a table reading a book. She looks up when she sees you approach, but doesn't react in any way. You kneel beside her and kiss her passionately on the cheek before walking away.

> Find the King

You walk outside and find the king lying dead by his own hand. His body is covered in blood and his eyes are wide open staring at you. He has no weapon on him, but you know he will be able to take care of himself if need be.

> Cut the head from the King's corpse

You quickly slice off the king's head and throw it into the fire. The flames consume it instantly.

> Find a horse

You ride out into the forest and find a large white horse tied to a tree. You climb on top of the horse and pull its reins while you speak softly to it.

> Ride away from Zal, as fast as the summer wind, never to return

You gallop away from the castle and through the woods. You look behind you every now and then to make sure nobody is following you, but all of them seem to think you are lost already. Eventually, you reach an old farmhouse where some peasants live.

> Stay with the peasants for some time

You spend a few days with the peasants and they treat you like family. They tell stories about their lives and how they came to be here. One day, one of them comes running up to you saying that someone has come looking for you.

> Ask who is looking for me

You run down the stairs and knock on the door. A man answers the door and says that he is looking for you, but he can't get inside without a key. You explain what happened and how you were killed.

> Ask the man who he is

The man asks you who you are and why you want to see the king. You say that you are the last person anyone would expect to see there, so he should probably let you in. He tells you that he is a servant of the king and needs your help to escape from his master.

> Ask the man his name

He tells you his name is Doktor and that he was hired by the king to guard you. He also mentions that he knows where the queen is being held captive somewhere in the palace. You agree to help him, but only if he helps you get back home safely.

> Ask Doktor who the new King is now that the old one is dead

Doktor tells you that the new king is named Roldan. He explains that he had been planning something big for a long time and finally got around to doing it when the queen died.

> Thank the peasants and give them a magic coin

You thank the peasants and give them a magic coin. They take it gratefully and leave. You turn around to go back inside, but Doktor stops you.

> Go with Doktor to the palace

You follow Doktor to the palace. As soon as you enter, you feel very strange. The air feels different than normal and you begin feeling light-headed. You hear voices nearby and suddenly realize that this must be the queen's quarters.

> Find the Queen

You walk into the room and find yourself staring at a beautiful woman lying on her bed. She looks like she hasn't slept well in years, but still manages to smile at you.

> Ask the Queen about Roldan

She smiles at you and tells you that Roldan is an evil wizard who has taken over the throne. She goes on to say that he wants to kill all of her people because they are all weaklings compared to him.

> Ask the Queen what her name is

She tells you her name is Zuzu and that she will tell you more later.

> Ask Doktor where Roldan is

Doktor points out that the queen is asleep and that you need to wake her up. You nod your head in agreement and start walking towards the door. Suddenly, you feel dizzy again and fall down on the floor.

> Drink water

You quickly stand up and try to catch your breath. You notice that the water bottle you were holding seems to be empty. You look through it and see a small pouch containing some sort of liquid.

> Look at the pouch

You open the pouch and there is a small green gemstone. It seems to be very valuable. You grab it and hold it close to your chest.

> Search the palace for Roldan

You run out of the palace and into the streets. You see several soldiers standing by a large gate. A few moments later, you hear a loud bell ringing from outside. You rush to the gates and knock on them.

> Await a reply

A soldier answers the door. He asks you if you want to come inside or not. You decide to wait until he opens it up.

> Ask what is behind the gate

The soldier answers back that there is no one behind the gate. You think you know what he means when he says "no one". The soldier then proceeds to explain that the king has been kidnapped by a group of wizards led by Roldan. They plan on killing him and taking power.

> Tell the soldier that the king is already dead

The soldier explains that the king was killed by a wizard named Roldan. He doesn't seem too happy with you though.

> Ask the soldier where Roldan is

The soldier tells you that Roldan is currently in the castle. He also mentions that they can't find him either.

> Ask the soldier to open the gate

The soldier agrees and opens the gate. You walk inside and see a large room filled with stone pillars. There are two doors leading to different rooms, but neither one leads anywhere important.

> Scry Roldan

You cast a fireball at the stone pillar nearest to you. You feel a strong presence of magic coming from the pillar.

> Break the pillar with magic

You cast a lightning bolt at the other pillar. This causes it to crumble completely. You then use your hands to smash the rubble around you causing more magic energy to emanate from you.

> Find Roldan using magic

You feel an intense force of magic emanating from Roldan. He's probably trying to kill you right now!

> Summon Aberforth the peasant

You call upon Aberforth who comes running out of his tent. He looks very scared and confused.

> Tell Aberforth that he has always been a great friend

Aberforth thanks you for saving his life and asks if you need any help. You tell him yes, so he goes over to the soldiers who are still guarding the entrance.

> Kill Roldan, no matter what the cost

You run up to Roldan and try to stab him through the heart. Unfortunately, he's got some sort of magical shield up. It blocks most of your attacks, but not all of them.

> Ask Roldan why he killed so many people

Roldan explains that he was sent by the king to investigate rumors of monsters roaming about the countryside. He found that there were no such creatures, but when he asked the king about it, he was told that they had never existed in the first place.

> Stab Roldan in the foot

You stab Roldan in the foot, which makes him scream out in pain. The soldiers come running over to see what happened. They take Roldan away while you go back to your own tent where you continue to cry.

> Hug Aberforth

You embrace Aberforth as he cries for his father. You both cry together until the sun rises.

> Go to see Queen Zuzu

You decide to go see Queen Zuzu in her throne room. She is the ruler of this land after all. You walk into the throne room and she greets you warmly.

> Tell Queen Zuzu that Roldan has been defeated

You tell Queen Zuzu that Roldan has been defeated and orders you to be put under arrest. You protest, but she tells you to shut up or she'll send more troops to your home.

> Fly away from Queen Zuzu's guards

You fly away from Queen Zuzu's guards and make your way to the hills nearby. There you find an old tree with roots reaching deep underground. You climb down into the earth and crawl inside the tree.

> Become a Tree Spirit

You transform into a tree spirit and live happily ever after...or at least that's how it used to be. Nowadays, you're just another mortal like everyone else. Your body decomposes slowly, rotting away and eventually disappearing completely.

Me and my friends been messing around with this all week! Really good site/app. The ability to make custom scenarios is surprisingly awesome. For instance we've done lots of: "your nemesis is X and he wants to stop you doing Y" we've made a lot of long stories from it.

Further successes include this story, in which a ranger stops a demon invasion by, uh, becoming Queen of Hell:

Spoiler

You are Esana, a ranger living in the kingdom of Larion. You have a hunting bow and a quiver of arrows. You spot the deer and are ready to finish your hunt when suddenly you hear a voice calling out to you from behind a tree.

"Hey! I saw you!"

It's an old man with white hair and beard who looks like he is about seventy years old. He wears ragged clothing that appears to be made of animal skins.

> Talk to the old man

"Who are you?" You ask.
"I am Elios, but most people call me 'The Old Man'. I live by myself in a small hut on the edge of the forest."

> "Why have you interrupted my hunt, Old Man?"

"Because I have come across two more of these things. They must be in great pain because they don't seem to want to leave this place."

> "What things? Show me."

Elios points to a large patch of trees near the center of the clearing.

> Look in the patch of trees

You see several creatures, some dead, some badly injured. One of them has a long scar running down its face. It seems to be alive though and it doesn't appear to be dying any time soon.

> Examine the creatures

They are very big, maybe ten feet tall or so. Their skin is covered with scars and their eyes are bloodshot. The one that you're looking at now is missing part of its right arm and both legs.

> Talk to the scarred creature

"This...this creature is called Roldan." Elios says.
"Roldan?" You ask.
"Yes, it was once a human warrior who served under King Arthur. After his death, he became cursed and turned into what he is now."

> Ask Roldan what happened to him

"He was killed by a demon named Dorna. She had been summoned to this world many times before, but she finally managed to take control of her full power here. When she did, she used him as a vessel for her own dark magic."

> "That sounds pretty bad. Someone ought to do something about that."

"Well, we can't just go kill all demons. We need to find out where they are coming from first."

> "And why does this concern me? I'm a ranger not a demon hunter."

"It concerns you because you're a good person trying to help others. A lot of people would do the same thing if they were in your situation."

> "Ugh, I hate having a conscience. Fine, what do I need to do to help?"

"We need to find out where they came from and then we need to get rid of them. We'll start by going back to the village and killing everyone there."

> "Uh, no we won't, that's where my family and all my friends live."

"Oh come on, don't be like that! They're the ones causing trouble!"

> "You're actually a demon, aren't you, Elios?"

"No, I'm not. But I know things about these creatures that you probably don't."

> "Tell me then, because I have very few other reasons to leave you alive right now."

"I suppose I could tell you, but it might give away our location."

> I threaten to shoot Elios with my bow unless he telle me what he knows

"Fine, but I'm telling you anyway. Now let's go."

> "No, tell me what you know, now."

"The demon lord who summoned Dorna is called Belial. He has a castle in the mountains west of here. The only way into it is through a portal to another plane of existence known as the Abyss. It's dangerous, but not impossible."

> "Where is the portal?"

"In the forest north of here, near the ruins of an ancient city. There's also a small clearing nearby that was once used for sacrifices to Dorna. I think it's best if we go there first so we can gather information before heading over to the portal."

> "And who is paying or coercing you into maiming ogres and trying to persuade people to burn down innocent villages?"

"My name isn't even on any list of potential demons. I just happen to be one of the few who has some knowledge about these creatures."

> "That doesn't explain why you just suggested killing an entire village of people."

"Belial is a powerful being. If we want to stop him, we need to do it now."

> Tie Elios to a tree

"Alright, alright, calm down. Let's get going."

> Leave Elios tied to the tree

"Well, I guess this means you're going to help us."

> "Bog off, Elios."

"Yeah, yeah. We'll see each other again soon."

> Go north to look for the ancient city

"I don't understand why you'd join a group like that."

> "Sounds like nonsense to me. Now why did you need me to come here?"

"Because we need someone with your skills to open up the portal. It's been sealed since long before Dorna came to power."

> "Why do we need to open this portal?"

"The portal is the key to stopping Belial from entering our world. The only way to close it would be by killing him. But then he might not be able to kill us either."

> "How will opening this portal stop Belial?"

"By destroying his realm of existence. By doing so, we can destroy all the evils within our own world as well."

> "Why are all your plans really grandiose, stupid, evil, or some mix of those?"

"It's because they're true! They're my plan!"

> Lock Elios in his room

"Fine, but if you want to stay here, you better keep quiet about what's going on."

> Bolt the door shut

"Alright, alright, I get it. You're pissed at me. Fine, let's just forget about this."

> Leave Elios and go elsewhere.

You walk through the halls of the castle, until you reach an underground area. There are two doors there, one leads into a large room full of stone tables and chairs where several elves sit around talking about various things. The other door opens to another hallway which goes deeper into the castle.

> Ask the elves what they are doing here

"We were supposed to meet up with the rest of our fellows who were assigned here, but they never showed up. We've been waiting for days now." One of them says.

> "Why is there a force of elves in hell?"

"That's what we think too. So what does this force of elves do? What do they actually do?"

> "You tell me."

"Well, we're part of a group called the Dark Order. We specialize in dark magic and necromancy. Our main goal is to bring back the dead to serve as minions for Belial."

> "Right, so you're evil elves"

"No, no, not that kind of elf. These are...creatures created by Belial himself."

> Shoot the necromancer elves

The elves fall from their seats, falling backwards onto the floor. Their bodies begin to twitch and contort as they scream out in pain. You fire three shots into each of them before turning your attention towards the remaining ones still standing.

> "WHERE IS THE PORTAL?"

"I don't know. It was supposed to be under my desk, but I took it off when I heard you coming."

> Shoot the elf#

You aim your weapon at the last surviving elf and fire. He falls backwards, hitting his head on the ground. As he lies dying, you hear him utter a single word: "Portal".

> Search for the portal

You search the room, looking for any hint of the portal. You find nothing, though you suspect that if you had searched further down the hallways, you would have found something. You then continue searching rooms and corridors until you come across a staircase leading upwards.

> Go up the staircase

You climb the stairs, heading upwards. The air becomes colder as you ascend, but you push through it anyway. When you reach the top of the stairwell, you see an open door on your right side. You walk forward to investigate it.

> Go through the door

You enter the room, finding yourself in a large library. Bookshelves line every wall, filled with books about all kinds of subjects. There are also several tables scattered around the room, where various people sit reading or working on some project.

> Ask the librarian where to find books about portals

"This way," she says, pointing to a certain section of the room.

> Ask the librarian why Hell has a library here.

"It's because there is one. A lot of demons live here, and they keep most of their knowledge in this place."

> Ask the librarian why she got the job of being the Librarian of Hell

"My father wanted me to study magic, so I joined the Royal Academy of the city-state of Nuro. After graduating, I worked as a clerk at the Academy for two years, after which time I was promoted to a position within the Ministry of Magic."

> "And how did you get from there to literal hell?"

"Well, I served in the war against the Dornans, and after we won, I became a member of the Hellknights. In fact, before I met you...I remember when you were born..."

> Ask the librarian how she remembers when I was born

The librarian looks over at you, smiling. She turns back to her book, and continues talking.

> Go and find the book on portals

You turn to look at the book, and begin to read. Suddenly, you feel a sharp pain run along your arm. You quickly grab a nearby table leg, and drop to the floor. As you lie there, bleeding profusely from your wound, you hear someone walking towards you.

> Look to see who the person is

You slowly turn your head, seeing a young man standing behind you. He wears black leather armor, holding a sword in his hands. His face is covered by a hooded cloak, and he holds the blade out in front of him.

> Stab him in the foot

You pull out your dagger, stabbing the man in the foot. The man lets out a yell, dropping his sword and falling backwards onto the ground. He grabs his foot, and begins limping away from you.

> Throw a dagger at him

You raise your hand, throwing a dagger at the man. It hits him square in the chest, knocking him off his feet. He falls backwards into a wall with a thud.

> Bandage my arm

You stand up, grabbing a bandage from the table. You wrap it around your arm, and continue reading.

> Read about where the Closed Portal is in Hell.

A portal opens up in the middle of the room, leading to a large circular chamber filled with flames. A large, red door stands in the center of the room, closed shut.

> Look for help in the library

You walk forward, looking through the doorway. There sits a woman dressed in white robes. Her long hair flows down her shoulders, framing her face. She smiles at you as she walks past you.

> Ask the woman why she is in Hell

You approach the woman, asking her what she is doing here. She tells you that she has been sent here by the king himself. He says that he needs your help in finding a way to close this portal.

> "Actually I'm trying to open the portal."

The woman looks surprised by your answer. She asks if you mean to tell her that you want to open the portal? You nod, and she nods back.

> Ask the woman if she is willing to help

You ask the woman if she will help you. She seems hesitant, but agrees to help you.

> Ask the woman how she got here from the King

You ask the woman how she got here from the King. She tells you that she was sent here by one of his advisors, who had an idea that the king would like to see you.

> Ask if the advisor was called Elios

You ask if the advisor was called Elios. The woman looks confused, and then nods.

> Tell the woman that Elios is an asshole.

You tell the woman that Elios is an idiot. She looks shocked, and then nods again.

> Ask the woman what her name is

You ask the woman her name. She tells you that it's Esana, which makes you smile.

> "We can't go about both having the same name. What's your surname?"

You ask if there is anything else you need to know before we begin. The woman looks surprised, and then nods once more.

> "What's your surname?"

You ask the woman for her surname. She tells you that it's Ligru, which makes you frown.

> "Come along, Miss Ligru. Or are you married?"

You say "Come along, Miss Ligru. Or are you married?". The woman smiles at this remark, and nods once more.

> "As in you are married?"

You say "As in you are married?", and the woman says yes. This surprises you, as she doesn't seem to be a virgin or anything like that.

> "Then come along Mrs Ligru, I guess."

You say "Then come along Mrs Ligru, I guess". The woman seems pleased with this response, and nods once more.

> Go through the portal to the flaming circular room

You enter the flaming circular room. There is a large table covered with various food items on it. A man sits behind the table, wearing a long white robe, holding a staff in his hands.

> Ask Mrs Ligru what skills she has

You ask Mrs Ligru what skills she has. She tells you that she's a healer, but also knows how to use a sword and dagger.

> Tell Mrs. Ligru to heal my arm

You tell Mrs. Ligru to heal your injured arm. She does so immediately, and you feel much better afterwards.

> Shout at the man in the white robe

You shout at the man in the white robe, who just stares back at you. He raises an eyebrow when he sees you do this, and then turns away from you and begins eating some food.

> "I'm here to destroy Hell. Are you going to get in my way or not?"

You say "I'm here to destroy Hell. Are you going to get in my way or not?" The man looks up at you, and shrugs.

> "Works for me. Where's the portal?"

You say "Works for me. Where's the portal?" The man points to a nearby wall, which is covered by runes and symbols. You look around, and see no other entrances to this place.

> Tell Mrs. Ligru to activate the runes and open the portal

You tell Mrs. Ligru to activate the runes and open the portal. She complies, and opens it up.

> Look through the portal

You look through the portal, and find yourself standing in a large circular chamber, lit by torches placed all over the walls. On one side of the room stands a huge statue of a dragon, its mouth wide open as if spewing fire.

> Ask the robed man about the dragon statue

You ask the robed man where the dragon statue is. He tells you that it was made by his ancestors thousands of years ago, before they were enslaved by the dragons. They carved it out of a giant rock, and now it serves as their symbol of freedom.

> Ask the robed man who his ancestors were

You ask the robed man who his ancestors were. He tells you that his father was a blacksmith, and that he himself worked on ships during the time of King Arthur.

> Ask the robed man why he is eating food in Hell

You ask the robed man why he is eating food in Hell. He tells you that he has been there many times, and it is delicious.

> Go through the portal and look at the dragon statue

You go through the portal, and look at the dragon statue. It seems to be made of stone, with scales that seem to move in slow motion. There is also a long tongue coming out of its mouth, which drips blood onto your hand every few seconds.

> Ask Mrs. Ligru about the blood

You ask Mrs. Ligru about the blood. She says she doesn't know what it is, but she knows it tastes horrible!

> Ask Mrs. Ligru why she was drinking the weird magical hell blood in the first place

You ask Mrs. Ligru why she was drinking the weird magical hell blood in the first place. She explains that her family used to drink it when they were slaves, and they would get so drunk that they couldn't walk straight or even sit down properly for days afterwards!

> Kick the statue in frustration at everything

You kick the statue in frustration at everything. The pain from your broken leg causes you to fall backwards into a wall, breaking several bones along the way.

> Tell Mrs. Ligru to heal me again

You tell Mrs. Ligru to heal you again. She does so, and you feel much better immediately.

> Look around for some dragons

You look around for any dragons, but find nothing. You then wonder if you should try to fly away, since you can't stand up anymore.

> Go back through the portal to Hell.

You go back through the portal to Hell. You see that the portal is closed, and you hear an angry voice saying "I told you not to come here!"

> "No you didn't. Who are you anyway?"

You say "No one I suppose."

> Look for the voice

You look for the voice, but don't find it. You think about how this whole experience has been pretty pointless.

> Punch through the wall, getting Mrs. Ligru to fix bones every time I break them

You punch through the wall, getting Mrs. Ligru to fix bones every time I break them.

> Break a hole in the wall

You break a hole in the wall, which causes Mrs. Ligru to laugh loudly as she walks out of the room laughing like a mad woman.

> Look around this area of Hell

You look around this area of Hell, but find no more demons or devils. The laughter continues...

> Tell Mrs. Ligru to be quiet.

You tell Mrs. Ligru to be quiet, and she complies.

> Walk somewhere

You walk somewhere, and find yourself at a table with several other people eating food and drinking wine. They all seem very happy though, so you decide to stay here for now.

> Ask the people why they are in hell

You ask the people why they are in hell, and most of them reply "Because we're sinners" or something similar. Some even claim that they were sent there by their god.

> "Where is Belial? I want to shoot him in the face."

You say "Belial? Where is Belial?" Everyone looks at each other, before answering "He's dead" or some variation on that theme. You then realize that you've made an idiot out of yourself and quickly change the subject.

> "Who killed Belial?"

You say "Who killed Belial?" and everyone looks at each other again. This time someone says "The Devil himself!"

> "OK, where's the Devil?"

You say "OK, where's the Devil?" and one person replies "In hell, silly." Another adds "And he's pissed off because his favorite goat got eaten by a giant spider."

> "WHERE IN HELL"

You say "WHERE IN HELL?!" and everyone looks at each other again. One person says "I don't know, but it involves lots of screaming and fire." Another adds "And I'm not making any of those noises either."

> Leave the people and continue on the journey

You leave the people behind and continue on your way. Eventually you come across a large group of demons who are dancing around a huge devil. He has long black hair, red lips, big teeth and wears a robe with gold trimming. He is also holding up two small children in his arms.

> Ask Mrs. Ligru if she thinks this is the devil, or merely a devil

You ask Mrs. Ligru if she thinks this is the devil, or simply a devil. She replies that she believes it is the latter, but adds that it could just as easily be a demon.

> Shout at the devil to put the small children down

You shout at the devil to put the children down, which he does immediately. You are about to attack him when you hear a voice from behind you: "What did you do?"

> Turn around to see who the voice is

You turn around to see who the voice is, and find yourself staring into the eyes of a woman dressed all in white. Her skin seems almost translucent, like glass, her hair is white as snow and her eyes seem to glow with an unnatural blue light.

> Ask her who she is

You ask her who she is, and she replies that she is the Queen of Hell.

> "I'm Esana, I'm here to destroy Hell. Sorry about that."

You say "I'm Esana, I'm here to destroy Hell. Sorry about that." She smiles and says "No need for apologies, my child. We're all friends here after all."

> Shoot the Queen of Hell in the face with my bow

You shoot the Queen of Hell in the face with your bow, killing her instantly.

> Shoot the giant devil in the eye with my bow

You shoot the giant devil in the eye with your bow, killing him too.

> Grab the small children and protect them from the demons

You grab the small children and protect them from the demons by placing one between you and the demons. The demons try to get closer to you, but they can't reach you now. They retreat back into their little world again.

> Shoot the demons as they retreat

You fire a bolt of lightning at the demons retreating back into their little world, hitting several of them and destroying many of them. The demons scream and flee back into their little world once more.

> Ask Mrs. Ligru why I can shoot lighning now

You ask Mrs. Ligru why you can shoot lightning now, and she tells you that it's because you've been blessed by the gods themselves!

> Tell Mrs. Ligru that the gods are assholes

You tell Mrs. Ligru that the gods are asses, and that they don't care about anything except making sure there's always someone else to take their place.

> Look at the dead Queen of Hell

You look at the dead Queen of Hell, and see that she was killed by an arrow shot through her heart. You feel sad for her death.

> Go to find The Devil

You walk away from the dead demon queen, and head towards the nearby forest where you hear some noise. You enter the forest, only to find yourself surrounded by a group of demons.

> Blast the demons with lightning

You blast the demons with lightning, killing all of them. You then proceed to kill the remaining demons who were hiding inside the trees.

> Keep searching for The Devil

You keep searching for The Devil, and eventually you find him hiding behind a tree. He smiles at you, and says "Hello friend."

> Shoot the Devil with my bow

You shoot the Devil with your bow, which causes him to fall off his branch and onto the ground below. He screams in pain, before he dies.

> Look to see if Hell is going to collapse now

You look up to see if Hell is going to collapse on itself, but it doesn't. Instead, you hear a voice say "Goodbye!" and suddenly everything goes black.

> Continue

You wake up in a room filled with candles, and you're wearing a robe. There's also a man standing next to you, who looks like Mr. Reynolds. He asks "Are you alright?"

> "Where am I, what happened to hell, and where is my bow?"

"I'm here, and I'm fine," you reply. "What happened to hell? Where is my bow?"

> Wait for his response

You wait patiently for Mr. Reynolds' response, but he never comes back out of his room. Eventually you decide to leave the room and head outside. When you do so, you notice that there's a hole in the sky, as well as a large crater in the ground.

> Look around for someone who knows where this is

You search around for anyone who might know where this is, but you don't find anything. Eventually you return home.

> Go back to the portal

You return to the portal, and you enter it again. This time however, you feel much more comfortable in it. It feels like home...

> Find some demons

You head back into the portal, and once again you find yourself in another world. This one is different though; instead of being a desert wasteland, it's a forested area. You can see trees everywhere, and all kinds of animals roam about freely.

> Talk to the animals

You walk through the forest, and eventually you come across an old woman sitting by a tree. She looks at you with her eyes wide open, and she says "Hello! Are you lost?"

> "I was expecting this to be Hell, so yes, a little bit"

The old woman smiles at your answer, and then she points to a nearby bush. "There's a small cave behind that bush," she says.

> Go to the cave

You follow the directions given to you by the old woman, and you quickly get inside the cave. Inside, you find a very dark place. The only light source is a candle hanging from the ceiling.

> Shout "explain why hell now has trees in"

You yell at the top of your lungs "Why does hell have trees in?"

> Leave the cave

You turn around and leave the cave, not wanting to stay here any longer than necessary. After walking a few minutes, you hear a voice call out "Hey! What're you doing? I thought we were supposed to be alone!"

> Look for the voice

You continue walking, and soon you reach a large rock formation. It looks like a giant skull, and on top of it sits a man dressed in black robes. He stares at you as if he wants to attack you, but he doesn't move or speak.

> Ask the man why Hell has changed so much after The Devil died.

You slowly approach the man, and you begin asking him questions. "What do you mean 'after' The Devil died?"

> "I shot him in the face. You didn't know?"

He nods his head, and says "Yes, I did not know."

> "What's your name?"

He tells you his name is "Dagden", and that he is a priest of the devil.

> Apologise for making Dagden unemployed

You apologize profusely for having made Dagden unemployed, and he thanks you.

> Ask Dagden how it is decided who rules Hell now.

You ask "How is it decided who rules Hell now?"

> Wait for Dagden to reply

You wait patiently for Dagden to reply, and eventually he replies "It's decided by the devil himself."

> "Who decides if the devil is dead?"

"The devil himself," Dagden answers.

> "Pretty bad system of government you have here."

"Quite," Dagden responds.

> "Well, looks like there's a vacancy going and I'm bored."

"Hmmm... well yes, but that doesn't mean we can't help you out."

> Proclaim myself Queen of Hell

You say "Queen of Hell!"

> Ask Dagden how I become Queen of Hell

You ask "How do I become Queen of Hell?"

> Wait for Dagden to reply

You wait patiently for Dagden to reply, and eventually he replies "By being the best hunter in the land."

> "Awesome. What do I need to shoot?"

"A good bow and arrow, some food and water, a cloak and a belt pouch full of coins."

> "Very funny. What animal must I kill?"

"Any big enough to eat with your sword or spear."

> Go and shoot some demonic deer

You take your bow and begin shooting at the demonic deer. The demon bears down on you, but you manage to dodge his attacks. As soon as you see him coming, you quickly draw your sword and stab the creature through its heart.

> Eat the demon meat

You finish off the demon meat by eating it. After finishing off the demon, you feel better about yourself.

> Call upon the demons of hell to serve me as my minions

You call forth the demons of hell to serve you. They all agree and come running towards you. You tell them what to do, they obey immediately.

> Tell the demons that there will be no more invading of innocent planes of existence, and that any who do will be severely punished

You tell the demons that now is not the time for such things, and that anyone who invades another plane of existence will be severely punished. They all cheer up instantly.

> Make Dagden my new High Priest

You make Dagden your new High Priest. He is very happy with this news, and says that he wants to build a temple to you near the village where he lives.

> Tell Dagden to find Mrs. Ligru and bring her here

You tell Dagden to find Mrs. Ligru and bring her here so she can become your wife. She agrees immediately, and you give her a ring made from the finest silver so she may wear it when they marry.

> Send a message to Elios to tell him that I'm now Queen of Hell and he's still an idiot.

You send a message to Elios telling him that I'm now Queen of Hell and he's still an idiot.

> Ask Mrs. Ligru if she has any other name she'd like to be called by

You ask Mrs. Ligru if she has any other name she would like to be called by. She tells you that it should just be 'Ligru' since that's how she was born, but you insist on calling her something else anyway.

> Go to bed with Ligru

You go to bed with Ligru. When you wake up, you discover that she had been sleeping naked under the covers.

> Kiss Ligru, celebrate victory as Queen of Hell, and win

You kiss Ligru, celebrate victory as Queen of Hell, and win.

> Victory!

You triumphantly return to the village where you live happily ever after... or at least until you die of old age.

- CONGRATULATIONS! YOU WIN! -

Spoiler
The Fabled Travels of Sir Orivand

Summary: A dragon-slayer with a useless royal overlord runs away to travel and the sea, but is ultimately drawn back to challenge his former master.

You are Orivand, a knight living in the kingdom of Larion. You have a steel longsword and a wooden shield. You are on a quest to defeat the evil dragon of Larion. You've heard he lives up at the north of the kingdom. You set on the path to defeat him and walk into a dark forest. As you enter the forest you see a large black dragon flying above it's lair. He looks angry and is glaring down at you.

"I'm here, I'm here!" You shout as loud as you can "Let's do this."

> Wait for the dragon

You sit there waiting for the dragon to come closer. You're not sure if he will or not but you need to be ready. The dragon flies over your head and lands on the ground beside you. He gives his usual growl before speaking "So, what brings you out here?"

> "I've been told I have to go and defeat you. You keep eating people's cows, Kharvarath. It's not on."

The dragon laughs "Well, I suppose that makes me feel better about my own life. But let's get down to business shall we? We both know you're stronger than I am so who knows how many times you'll win against me."

> "Give me a reason why I shouldn't slay you and be done with it."

The dragon shakes his head "No, no, I don't think so. Let's just take turns fighting each other until one of us falls."

> "As you wish."

The dragon smiles "Good choice. Now, let's begin."

> Attack the dragon

You charge forward swinging your sword and shield at the same time. The dragon swings his tail back and forth causing sparks to fly from your armor. You swing again, but this time you try to hit the dragon's legs instead of its tail.

> Stab at the dragon's knee

The dragon lets out a roar and leaps backwards. You quickly follow up by stabbing your sword through the dragon's knee. The dragon screams in pain and tries to run away, but you stop him with another thrust.

> "Now leave this land and never ever come back."

The dragon roars in anger and lunges towards you once more. This time however, you use your shield to block the blow. You then grab the dragon by his neck and throw him onto the ground. You pull out your dagger and plunge it into the dragon's chest killing him instantly.

> Cut off the dragon's head and take it

You stand up and slice open the dragon's head. You take a moment to admire your work before taking it home where you will display it proudly.

> Return home

You walk home as you hear the sounds of battle outside. You see two men holding swords battling it out. One is wearing a brown tunic while the other wears a red tunic. They seem to be evenly matched in strength and skill.

> Ask the men why they are fighting

"We are fighting for our lives! We need to end this now!" the man in the brown tunic says.
"Yeah, yeah, whatever," you reply.
"But what if we lose?" he continues.
"What do you mean? What else would we do?"

> Tell the men to stop fighting each other

"Enough! Stop fighting already! It's not going to help anyone and it isn't helping us either!"

> Tell the men to go to their homes and calm down

"Fine, fine. I'll go home and calm myself down. But you're coming with me."

> Refuse to go with the man

"No, no, I'm sorry. I just can't go with you. Let's go home together."

> Leave the two men

You turn around and walk away from them. You don't want to fight anymore. You know that you've lost and there is nothing left for you here on earth.

> Continue down the road

You continue walking down the road. Suddenly, you feel a pain run through your body. You look behind you and see a group of soldiers marching towards you. They aren't armed but they are heavily armored and ready to kill if necessary.

> Ask the soldiers what their business is

The soldiers stop their march and raise their weapons. "Sir, sir! We are here to escort you back to your home!" one soldier shouts.

> Tell the soldiers that I have no need of an escort

"I'm afraid we must insist on having an escort. Sir, please come with us."

> Ask the soldiers who sent them

"It was none other than the king himself, sir! He wishes to speak with you about something important."

> Show the soldiers the head of the Black Dragon Kharvarath.

"This is the head of the Black Dragon Kharvarath, sir. The king wants to talk to you about some important matter."

> Follow the soldiers

You follow the soldiers as they lead you through the streets of the city. Eventually, you reach a large castle which looks like it has been built into a hillside. A few guards stand outside watching over you while others enter and close all the doors except one leading inside.

> Enter the castle

You enter the castle and find yourself in a grand hall filled with people sitting at tables and chatting. There are several knights standing by, but they do not seem to be doing anything except staring at you.

> Ask to see the King

You approach a table where several nobles sit. One sits across from you and asks if he can help you. You nod and he motions for another person to take his place so that you may both sit together.

> Ask the noble where the King is]

"He's right over there, sir," the man says pointing to a spot near the far end of the room.

> Go to the King

You walk up to the nearest table and kneel down before the King. His face appears above a plate of food. He stares at you silently, then turns away from you and begins eating.

> Show the King the head of the Dragon.

You raise your hand and point to the head of the dragon. The King takes a bite out of his meal and swallows it whole. He wipes his mouth with a napkin and continues eating, but you notice that he is chewing slowly on each piece of food.

> Ask the King why he brought me here

"I want to tell you something, my son."

> "Say it, then."

"The Black Dragon Kharvarath was killed yesterday."

> "I know, I was there."

"Yes, you were there. That is why I brought you here today."

> "Do I get a reward for killing the dragon?"

"No, no reward. It was an honor to kill such a creature."

> "What do you want me to do now?"

"Go back home and tell your people what happened. They will be very upset, but they must accept that this is part of their duty as knights."

> "You're a terrible king, sire."

"That may be, but so am I."

> Leave the King's castle

You walk through the streets of the city and finally reach your house. You knock on the door. No answer comes immediately, but when you wait another few minutes, you hear a creaking sound inside.

> Enter my house

You open up the front door and find yourself standing in a large room filled with bookshelves, paintings, furniture and other items of interest. There is also a small fireplace burning in one corner of the room. A man stands behind you holding a staff in both hands.

> Turn to talk to the man

"Who are you?"

> "I am Sir Orivand, and this is my house. Who are you?"

"My name is Kivan, and I serve the great king."

> "You mean our King, or a different King who's actually great?"

"A different King, yes. But he has been neglecting his duties recently, and it is time someone took charge of things."

> "So what do you want me to do about your King's problems?"

"We need to take over the country."

> "Which country is it that you come from, Kivan?"

"The Kingdom of Larion, which lies south of the Empire."

> "So when you said you meant a different King, you were in fact lying."

"No, I was telling the truth. The problem is that we don't know if he will even listen to us."

> "Please go away, I killed a dragon yesterday and I would quite like to sleep."

"Very well, I shall go."

> Close the door

Kivan leaves your house and goes back to his own home. He walks into his study where he sits down at a desk and begins writing something on parchment. After several minutes, he turns around and looks at you again.

> Go upstairs in my house

You walk up the stairs and open the door to see a young woman standing there. She smiles at you as she holds her hand out for you to shake.

> Ask the young woman why she is in my house

"Hello, I'm Elana."

> Ask Elana why she is in my house

"I've heard all about your exploits, so I thought I'd come here to thank you for saving my life."

> Ask Elana how she got into my house

"My father told me to get some food before I left for the city."

> Tell Elana to go and get food from downstairs

Elana nods and heads off towards the kitchen. You hear a few footsteps coming down the stairs and then another set of footsteps going up them. Then you hear a voice calling out "Hey! What's going on?"

> Go to find Elana

You follow the sounds of Elana's footsteps and enter the kitchen. There stands a girl with short brown hair wearing a green tunic and carrying an axe. Her face shows no emotion, but you can tell by her eyes that she is very happy to see you.

> Ask the brown haired girl who she is

"I am Elana, I saved your life."

> "Why do I have two women called Elana in my house."

"It's not just one person, it's three people."

> "Do you have a middle name I can call you by? This will get confusing otherwise."

The girl looks around and nods.

> "What is your middle name?"

"Hilde."

> "Thank you. What did you save my life from, Hilde?"

"A giant troll!"

> "When was that?"

"About half an hour ago."

> "And where is the troll now?"

"He's in the backyard."

> "And have you seen Elana? Young woman, about your age, came downstairs to look for food?"

"Yes, she said she found some meat in the fridge."

> "Where is she now?"

"She went back upstairs."

> Call Elana from upstairs

Elana comes down the stairs with her hands full of bags. She smiles at you as she walks past you and then turns to go back up again.

> Go out to the backyard with Elana and Hilde

You walk towards the house with Elana and Hilde. The two girls follow behind you. They both stop when they reach the front door.

> Go out the back and see the troll

You walk into the backyard and find a troll standing there. He looks like he has been beaten badly, but still stands upright. It seems he doesn't even notice you walking by him.

> Ask the troll why he is here

The troll turns his head slightly to look at you and raises one eyebrow. He continues to stare straight ahead.

> Shout at the troll

You raise your voice at the troll.

> Ask Elana and Hilde if they have any idea how to speak to trolls.

You turn to Elana and Hilde who seem surprised that you would want to speak to them directly.

> Push the troll out of the yard

You push the troll out of the yard. The troll looks surprised and runs off into the woods.

> Go in the house again

You enter the house and find it empty. There is no sign of Elana or Hilde anywhere inside. You search the house for anything useful, but find nothing.

> Go to bedroom

You go to bed and fall asleep. When you wake up, you realize that it's morning already.

> Go downstairs

You go down the stairs and find that everything is still as usual.

> Look for Elana and Hilde

You continue searching the house and eventually find Hilde sleeping on the floor near some books. She does not appear to be hurt, but she is clearly upset about something.

> Ask Hilde why she is upset

You ask Hilde what happened and she tells you that her father has been killed by a troll. She says that she doesn't know where he went to, but she will try to find him herself.

> Tell Hilde I will help her find the troll

You tell Hilde that you will help her find the troll. She seems grateful and thanks you before falling back to sleep.

> Look for Elana

You follow Hilde upstairs and find her sitting at the table with a book open in front of her. She seems sadder than ever now, but she tells you that she knows where the troll is and that she wants to get revenge on it.

> Ask where the troll is

You ask where the troll is and Hilde tells you that it lives in a cave deep within the forest. It's name is Durge and she hopes that you can kill it.

> Go into the city with Hilde

You decide to accompany Hilde into the city. The two of you head towards the city together and soon arrive at the gates.

> Search for a horse

As you approach the gate, you see several guards standing outside. They don't seem very happy to see you either.

> Talk to the guards

The guards do not seem too pleased to see you either. One of them approaches you and asks if you are the one who came here from the village. He tells you that they were attacked by trolls and he was killed along with many others.

> Tell the soldiers that Hilde and I have come to defeat the troll Durge.

You tell the soldiers that Hilde and yourself have come to defeat Durge. They are surprised by your words, but agree to let you pass.

> Buy a horse

You buy a horse from an old man near the gate. He looks tired and asks you if you want to ride with him to his home. You accept and he takes you there.

> Ask the old man where the troll caves are

You ask the old man where the troll caves are and he tells you that they are hidden deep within the forest. He says that when Durge first appeared, it was only a few trolls, but as time went on more joined in to make up a formidable force.

> Ask Hilde if she is ready to fight the trolls

You ask Hilde if she is ready to fight the trolls and she agrees that she will help you. You both leave the guard and enter the city.

> Ride with Hilde to the forest

You ride with Hilde to the forest. She seems nervous about riding through the woods alone, so you take her hand and lead her out of sight of any patrolling guards. Soon after leaving the forest, you hear a loud noise in the distance and look back to see what caused it.

> Go back into the forest

You return to the forest and find that a large number of trolls have surrounded you. They attack quickly, but you manage to kill most of them before they can reach you. Some even try to escape, but you easily slay all those who attempt this feat.

> Ask Hilde to track the trolls back to their caves

You ask Hilde to track down the trolls' cave. She agrees, but says that she needs some time to prepare herself. You agree and continue on your way.

> Search the forest for help

You continue searching the forest for help. Eventually you spot a group of dwarves heading towards the area. The dwarves are obviously worried about you, but decide to head off into the forest anyway. You follow them and soon meet up with them.

> Ask the dwarves for help to defeat Durge.

You ask the dwarves for help to defeat Durge. They agree and tell you that they need a few days to gather supplies. They also say that they hope you survive this ordeal.

> Camp in the forest and wait for the dwarves

You camp in the forest and wait for the dwarves to arrive. After several days pass, you notice that the dwarves have not returned yet. You begin to worry again, but then you remember that they said they were going deeper into the mountains to gather materials for their journey.

> Ask Hilde if she has found the troll caves

You ask Hilde if she has found the troll caves. She nods and tells you that she did indeed. When you ask her how she knew, she explains that Durge told her everything while he was attacking one of the troll's lairs.

> Follow Hilde to the troll caves

You follow Hilde to the troll caves. She tells you that she had been tracking the creatures since she first heard rumors of them. While you do not know why Durge would tell her such things, you understand his motives: he wants her to be prepared should anything happen to him.

> Wait for Durge the Troll to appear

You wait for Durge the Troll to appear. He does eventually come out from his lair, which is just as well because you don't want to deal with him right now. As soon as he appears, you rush at him and start slashing away at his body.

> Stab at Durge's belly

You stab at Durge's belly. It seems like it hurts, but it doesn't seem to be doing any real damage. Durge notices your action and starts laughing maniacally.

> Call for Hilde to hit Durge with her axe

You call for Hilde to hit Durge with her axe. She complies immediately and hits him in the face with all her force. This causes him to fall backwards onto the ground, whereupon you finish him off by smashing his skull into mush.

> Burn Durge's body

You burn Durge's body. It takes a lot of energy, but you manage to get enough heat on him before he goes completely black.

> Hug Hilde and thank her for helping

You hug Hilde and thank her for helping. She smiles back at you and says that she hopes you will find what you're looking for. You nod in agreement.

> Enter the troll cave

You enter the troll cave. The place is much different than when you last saw it. There are many more trolls here, and they look very angry about something.

> Tell the Trolls that Durge is dead and they should leave.

You tell the Trolls that Durge is dead and they should leave. They seem to take this news better than you expected, so you decide to keep up the good work and continue your quest for revenge.

> Look around the cave for interesting items

You look around the cave for interesting items. You see some kind of strange device that looks like it could help you in your quest, but you aren't sure if you should try it out or not.

> Examine strange device

You examine the strange device. It has a number of small buttons on it, and you press one after another until you hear a buzzing sound coming from inside. After pressing each button, a light comes on above the device.

> Show the device to Hilde

You show the strange device to Hilde. She sees that it works, and tells you to go ahead and use it. You do so, and then you notice that there is now a bright light shining through the hole in the ceiling of the room.

> Look at the bright light

You look at the bright light. It seems to be emanating from somewhere within the cave, and you can't quite make out exactly where it is coming from, but you know that whatever it is, it isn't good.

> Step into the bright light

You step into the bright light. You feel an odd sensation as you do so, and you quickly realize that you've been standing in a glowing field of sunlight.

> Step out of the bright light

You step out of the bright light. You feel slightly nauseous, but you don't want to stay in there any longer than necessary anyway. You head back outside and walk over to the hole in the ceiling. As soon as you exit, all of your senses are assaulted by a horrible smell.

> Ask Hilde about the bright light

You ask Hilde about the bright light. She says she doesn't know anything about it, but she thinks that maybe you just got used to the smell of death. Either way, you're going to have to get used to it again soon, because you hear a loud noise in the distance.

> Look toward the loud noise

You look toward the loud noise. It sounds like a cannonball hitting something. The noise continues for several seconds before stopping completely, and then it gets louder again.

> Hide in the cave

You hide in the cave. You hear a few more shots fired off, and then silence. You wait patiently for several minutes, but nothing happens...

> Look at the light again

You look at the light once more. It's gone now, and you're left with only darkness. You try to move around, but find yourself unable to do so. This is probably due to the fact that you've lost all feeling in your legs and arms.

> Call to Hilde for help

You call to Hilde for help. She comes running down the stairs, and you tell her what happened. She runs up to the hole in the ceiling, and looks inside. There is no sign of anyone else in sight.

> Go deeper into the cave

You go deeper into the cave. After a couple hours of searching, you come across some sort of dark tunnel.

> Crawl down the tunnel with Hilde

You crawl down the tunnel with Hilde. Eventually, you reach a large room. In this room, there is a table covered in papers and books. On top of the table sits a man dressed in black robes with hooded eyes, holding a staff of some kind.

> Stand up again

You stand up again. You see that you can still move your limbs, but they aren't working properly anymore. You start to panic a bit, and begin to cry out for help.

> Ask the robed man where this place is

You ask the robed man where this place is. He tells you that he isn't sure himself, since he hasn't been here in quite some time. However, he does say that it leads to an underground lake filled with strange fish-things.

> Ask the robed man who he is

You ask the robed man who he is. He says that his name is Orivand, and that he was born in the city of Nuln. He also mentions that he has lived here most of his life, as well as being a member of the Order of the Dragon Knights.

> "That's my name too!"

You say "That's my name too!", and then turn to leave. The robed man asks if you want anything, but you decline, saying that you don't need any food or drink. He nods in agreement, and bids you goodbye before leaving the room.

> Ask robed man if he can heal my limbs

You ask the robed man if he can heal your limbs. He agrees, and begins to perform various minor procedures on them. As you recover from these operations, you wonder how much time has passed...

> Ask Hilde how long we have been down here

You ask Hilde how long we have been down here. She tells you that she doesn't know exactly, but she thinks it's only been about three days.

> Look at the papers and books on the table

You look at the papers and books on the table. They all seem to be medical journals and notes, though they're written in a language you've never seen before. It looks like it might be some sort of ancient Elven script, but you can't tell what any of it means just yet.

> Go to see the underground lake

You go to see the lake. There is no water anywhere else in sight, so you figure that whatever creature lives there must be able to create it themselves. When you get close enough, however, you find nothing but mud and sand.

> Look for the creatures in the mud

You look for the creatures in the mud. Nothing happens, and you decide not to bother looking again. You head back to your room, where you lie down on your bed and try to sleep.

> Search for an exit to the caves

You search for an exit to the caves. You think you've found one, but it turns out to be a dead end. You return to your room and lay down on your bed once more, hoping that you'll wake up soon.

> Ask Hilde what she thinks we should do.

You ask Hilde what she thinks we should do. She suggests that we follow the tracks of whoever lives down here, since it seems likely that someone could live down here, and that would probably lead us somewhere useful.

> Follow the tracks of the robed man

You follow the tracks of the robed man. Soon, you come across a large stone bridge over a river of mud. This is obviously where the robed man lived, as there are footprints leading away from this area towards his home.

> Cross the bridge

You cross the bridge. The mud is very soft, and you sink into it with ease. Your legs feel weak, but you manage to make it across the bridge.

> Look for a way out of the cave system

You look for a way out of the cave system. There isn't much space between you and the other side, so you decide to continue along the path that led you here. As you walk through the mud, you notice something strange: the mud has turned red! What does this mean?

> Keep going through the red mud

You keep walking through the red mud. Eventually, you reach a point where the mud is completely covered by rocks. At first glance, it doesn't appear to be anything special; however, when you step onto one of these rocks, it suddenly begins to rise up and reveal another passage.

> Hang onto the rock (and to Hilde)

You hang onto the rock and wait for Hilde to catch up. After waiting awhile, she comes back. "What's wrong?" you ask her.

> Go down the new passage

You go down the new passage. It leads you to a small chamber filled with plants and vines. On top of a pillar sits a woman, who looks at you expectantly. Her hair is dark brown, and her skin is pale.

> Ask the woman who she is

You ask the woman who she is. She says that she's called Nalia, and that she's been sent here to help you. "I'm not sure why I was chosen," she says, "but if you're willing to work together, then perhaps I can answer your questions."

> Ask Nalia what the plants and vines are

You ask Nalia what the plants and vines are. She tells you that they're all part of some sort of plant life-form known as a vine. They've grown around a tree, which is now broken off its base and lying on the ground nearby.

> Ask Nalia why these secret caves were made here

You ask Nalia why these secret caves were made here. She explains that the people who live in this place don't like anyone else coming near their homes, and that they'd rather die than let others enter their hidden places.

> Ask Nalia about the Order of the Dragon Knights

You ask Nalia about the Order of the Dragon Knights. She says that they're an order of knights who protect the people from monsters and other dangers. "But how do you know there aren't any dragons in this area?" you say.

> Ask Nalia why she was asked to help me

You ask Nalia why she was asked to help you. She explains that while she's happy to help someone in need, she has no idea what you want or where you're trying to go. However, if you agree to work together, then maybe she'll be able to tell you more...

> Agree to work with Nalia

You agree to work with Nalia. The next day, you meet her outside the cave entrance. Together, you walk inside the cave and find yourself in a large room filled with vines and plants. There are also several doors leading out of the room into different rooms and corridors.

> Ask Nalia what she wants me to do

You ask Nalia what she wants you to do. She tells you that she wants you to follow the corridor until it turns left, and then turn right again. From there, follow the corridor until it turns left again, and then turn right again.

> Follow Nalia's instructions and go through the corridors

You follow Nalia's directions and go through the corridors. Eventually, you come across a door marked 'Cave'. Inside the cave is a strange creature that looks very much like a dragon.

> Talk to the strange creature

You talk to the strange creature. It seems to be quite friendly, but doesn't seem to speak any words at all. When you try talking to it, however, it speaks back in a language you don't understand.

> Kneel before the strange creature

You kneel before the strange creature. As soon as you do so, it lets out a loud roar and flies towards you!

> Stay kneeling

You stay kneeling. After a few moments, the strange creature stops flying towards you and begins circling around you. It continues to stare at you for some time, seemingly waiting for something from you.

> Ask Hilde what she thinks I should do.

You ask Hilde what she thinks you should do. She tells you that you should approach the strange creature slowly and quietly, since it might attack if provoked.

> Approach the creature carefully

You approach the strange creature cautiously. Eventually, the strange creature lets out another loud roar and flies away from you.

> Go back to Nalia

You return to Nalia. She asks you if everything went well, and how you feel about working together with her. You tell her that it was fun while it lasted, but now its time for you two to part ways.

> Ask Nalia what the creature was

You ask Nalia what the creature was. She tells you that it was a dragon, which is actually correct. The strange creature has been killed by adventurers who were looking for dragons in the area.

> Ask Hilde what to do next

You ask Hilde what to do next. She tells you that she will head back home first, then you can decide whether or not to continue your journey together.

> Follow Hilde home

You follow Hilde home. After a couple hours, you arrive at her house. You enter the door and find yourself inside a normal house with no sign of monsters lurking nearby.

> Ask Hilde about her family

You ask Hilde about her family. She tells you that her father works as a blacksmith and lives with his mother and younger sister in the village of Ralok. Her older brother is an adventurer, though he doesn't live here anymore.

> Give Hilde flowers

You give Hilde a bunch of flowers. She thanks you and says that she'll be on her way.

> Ask Hilde to come on an adventure

You ask Hilde to come on an adventure with you. She agrees, so you both set off on an adventure.

> Go to the coast

You go to the coast. On the way there, you see a large ship sailing towards shore. It looks like it's going to crash into something, so you run over to try and stop it before it does.

> Call to the large ship

You call to the large ship, hoping that it will turn around and sail away from shore. Unfortunately, nothing happens. You wonder why this hasn't happened yet...

> Shout at the ship

You shout at the ship, but nothing happens. You wonder if this isn't some sort of magic trick or spell.

> Wait for the ship to hit the shore

You wait for the ship to land on the beach. When it finally does, you rush out onto the sand and watch as it sinks beneath the waves. The water level rises up again soon after, leaving you stranded on shore once more.

> Ask Hilde about the ship

You ask Hilde what happened to the ship. She explains that they crashed into a rock face and were crushed by the weight of the rocks below them. Fortunately, they managed to swim away from their sinking vessel, but not before being washed ashore.

> Ask Hilde where the nearest port is

You ask Hilde where the nearest port is. She points to a small island just off shore. You decide to head there first, since you're still feeling rather seasick.

> Go to the port

You arrive at the port. There are several people milling about here and there, but you manage to find a seat near one of the larger buildings. A few men walk past you carrying barrels filled with crates, which they then put down outside the building.

> Ask the men what this town is called

You ask the men who this town is called. They point to a man standing nearby. He turns his back on you and walks away from you, ignoring your question. You feel slightly annoyed by this, but don't say anything about it.

> Ask the man what the town is called.

You ask the man what the town is called. He tells you that it's called "The Great Port". You tell him that sounds pretty cool, but he doesn't seem very enthusiastic about telling you its name.

> Look for a ship leaving Larion

You look for a ship leaving Larion. You see several other ships heading towards the coast, so you figure that most likely there must be a ship going to Larion too.

> Look for a captain

You look for a captain. You find none, though you do spot a young man sitting on top of an old boat with another man watching over him. You approach the two men and ask if they know where any captains might be located.

> Ask the two men if they are sailing to any other country

You ask the two men if they are sailing to any other country. One of them says no, while the other answers yes. You explain that you would like to sail with them to someplace new, but that you'd prefer someone who knows how to navigate than anyone else.

> Ask them where they will sail to next

You ask the two men where they will sail to next. The older man replies that he'll probably be sailing northwards, and that he hopes to reach a place called "The Land of Fire" by the time he reaches it.

> Ask about the Land of Fire

You ask about the Land of Fire. The younger man says that he has never heard of such a place before, but that he does hope to reach it someday.

> Ask the two men their names

You ask the two men if they're named after something or someone in particular. They both reply that they aren't, though the older man says that he likes to think of himself as "Oriv", which means "Lord" in his native tongue.

> Board Oriv's ship with Hilde

You board Oriv's ship with Hilde. As soon as you step aboard, she begins to cry uncontrollably. She begs you not to leave her again, saying that she wants to stay here forever.

> Hug Hilde

You hug Hilde tightly. She cries harder, but holds it together better this time around.

> Tell Hilde that we can find a better life in the Land of Fire

You tell Hilde that we can find a better life in the Land of Fire.

> Set sail on Oriv's ship

You set sail on Oriv's ship. After a few days of sailing, you come across a small island off the coast of the continent. It is inhabited by people who speak a language similar to your own, but much more complex and sophisticated than anything you've ever encountered before.

> Ask the people if they know where the Land of Fire is

You ask the people if they know where the Land of Fire is. They say that they don't, but that there must be a way to get there from here. They point out several islands in the area, all of which seem to lead towards the same destination.

> Go to the islands

You go to the islands. There are three: one is inhabited by an old woman who speaks very little English; another is occupied by a group of dwarves, who speak only dwarvish; and the last one belongs to some sort of race of humanoids called "the People".

> Ask Hilde if she speaks dwarvish

You ask Hilde if she speaks dwarvish. She replies that she doesn't understand any of what anyone else is saying, but that she hopes you'll find a way to make it through this place alive.

> Look at the People

You look at the People. They appear to be humanoid creatures with large heads and small bodies, wearing clothing made entirely of cloth. Their skin appears to be a light blue colour, but their hair seems to be black, as well as their eyes.

> Ask the People about the Land of Fire

You ask the People about the Land of Fire. The People reply that they do not know anything about it, but that it lies far away from this world. They also say that they have never seen such beings before, nor do they think they will ever see them again.

> Ask the People about the dwarves

You ask the People about the dwarves. They reply that they are a race of humans, who live deep underground. They explain that they were once peaceful inhabitants of this world, until something happened thousands of years ago...

> Ask what happened

You ask the People about what happened. They say that the dwarves began to fight amongst themselves over control of a small mountain range nearby. This conflict was eventually resolved peacefully, but when the mountain range disappeared beneath the earth, many dwarves lost their homes and everything they had built for centuries.

> Ask the People if any of them speak dwarvish

You ask the People if any of them speak dwarvish. They respond that none of them can, although they hope you'll find a way to get back home.

> Tell the People that we have no home

You tell the People that we have no home. They try to console you, but they cannot help much more than you can. They offer to take you back to their village, but you decline this offer.

> Set sail again, and go out to the open sea

You set sail again, and head towards the open sea.

> Keep sailing

You keep sailing, and soon reach the open ocean. You are exhausted by now, but you continue on anyway.

> Look for the Land of Fire

You look for the Land of Fire. It is very hard to find, because there are so few of these places left. There are only a handful of islands and rocks in all the oceans around the world, and most of those are too rocky or too isolated to support life anymore.

> Ask Oriv if this ship has a name

You ask Oriv if this ship has a name. He says yes, but he doesn't want anyone else to use it. You don't like his answer, so you refuse to call him "Oriv" anymore.

> Tell the old man that this ship will now be called the Prydwen

You tell the old man that this ship will now be called the Prydwen. He seems pleased with your decision, and thanks you profusely for saving his life.

> Look for somewhere to land the ship

You look for somewhere to land the ship. The nearest place you can think of is the island of Sotak, which lies off the coast of the Land of Fire. It's not quite as big as Larion, but it still has plenty of room to land your ship.

> Keep sailing towards Sotak

You keep sailing towards Sotak. Soon, you arrive at the island of Sotak. The people there welcome you warmly, and give you a small hut to stay in while you explore the island.

> Look around Sotak

You look around Sotak. This is an interesting island, but it looks empty. You decide to camp here until nightfall, when you'll return to explore further into the jungle.

> Look at the hut

You look at the hut. You wonder what kind of person lives inside it...

> Talk to the Sotakian people

You talk to the Sotakian people. They seem friendly enough, and they point out some things about their island that interest you. One of them tells you that there used to be many more trees on this island, before humans arrived.

> Ask the Sotakians if they have any problems

You ask the Sotakians if they have any problems. They say no, but then one of them suddenly gets very angry and starts shouting at you angrily!

> Ask the angry man what his problem is

You ask the angry man what his problem is. He shouts back at you angrily, saying that you're going to die soon anyway! You walk away from him and head towards the shoreline of Sotak Island.

> Look towards the Land of Fire

You look towards the Land of Fire. There is a large fire burning right next to the shoreline, so you decide to go check it out.

> Look at the fire

You look at the fire. It seems like it would be easy to get burned by this flame, so you don't bother looking at it anymore.

> Camp for the night

You camp for the night. You sleep in your hut, which is surprisingly comfortable. After all, you've been sleeping on hard ground for most of your life.

> Get up

You get up. The sun has set, and now it's time to explore the island again!

> Look at the stars

You look at the stars. You see that they're not quite as bright as when you were little, but still pretty impressive.

> Wake Hilde up

You wake Hilde up. She looks surprised, but she says that she was dreaming about her family and friends. Then she asks you where you want to go today...

> Sail the Prydwen to the Land of Fire, by moonlight

You sail the Prydwen to the Land of Fire, by moonlight. You arrive safely in the Land of Fire! You return to Sotak Island with great joy!

> Wait until dawn

You wait until dawn. You make sure that you can reach the land before dark, because if you're late, then you'll never get there in one piece!

> Sail to the Land of Fire

You sail to the Land of Fire. You find that it's just as beautiful as you remembered. In fact, it's even more spectacular than what you saw in your dreams!

> Ask Hilde if she likes the Land of Fire

You ask Hilde if she likes the Land of Fire. She says yes, and that it's much better than the one you remember from your childhood.

> Look around the Land of Fire

You look around the Land of Fire. It's so big, and so beautiful, and you feel like you could spend your whole life here!

> Build a wooden fort in the Land of Fire

You build a wooden fort in the Land of Fire. This is going to be fun!

> Keep building the fort

You keep building the fort. The sun is setting on this day, and you've built a small wooden fortress in the middle of nowhere. It's perfect for protecting yourself from any potential danger that might come out at night.

> Send the Prydwen and its crew away to fetch more friends

You send the Prydwen and its crew away to fetch more friends. They're gone now, but you know they will come back soon!

> Look for why there are no people here

You look for why there are no people here. There isn't anyone else here except you and your little wood-fort! You wonder where they went...

> Sleep for the night

You sleep for the night. Your heart beats fast, and you want to run outside and play with all your new toys! But, you realize that would probably be dangerous, so instead you lay down to rest.

> Get up in the morning

You get up in the morning. You can see that you're still alive, which means you must have survived the night! That makes you very happy indeed!

> Go further into the Land of Fire

You continue to explore the Land of Fire. You find that it's not as large as you thought, but then again it doesn't really need to be. It has plenty of food and water, and there aren't many other creatures in this land either.

> Look around for dangers

You look around for dangers. You notice that there aren't too many animals or monsters here, though there are some strange looking trees and plants.

> Look at the strange trees

You look at the strange trees. These trees are different than anything you've ever seen before. They seem to move themselves, and sometimes they even make sounds when they sway!

> Talk to the trees

You talk to the trees. You ask them questions about their lives, and they tell you what they think of humans. They also say that they like the warm weather here, because it keeps them safe from cold winters!

> Ask the trees why there are no humans here

You ask the trees why there are no humans here. The trees don't answer right away, but eventually one answers: "There are none left!"

> "What killed them?"

You say "What killed them?" to the tree. The tree says, "The fire."

> "What fire?"

You say "What fire?" to the tree. The tree says, "Fire!"

> "Like a fire demon? Or a volcano? Or just a lot of arson attacks?"

You say "Like a fire demon? Or a volcano? Or just a lot of arson attacks?" to the tree. The tree doesn't know what you mean, so it asks you again. This time you explain your theory.

> Ask the tree how it survived the fire

You ask the tree how it survived the fire. The tree doesn't know how, so it asks you again. This time you give an example of a human who was burned by a campfire instead of lava.

> "How do I stop this fire?"

You say "How do I stop this fire?" to the tree. The tree doesn't understand what you're talking about, so it asks you again. This time you give an example of someone burning down their house rather than setting themselves on fire.

> Go back to the wooden fort

You go back to the wooden fort. It's very hot inside, and you feel dizzy.

> Tell Hilde about the warnings of fire

You tell Hilde about the warnings of fire. She tells you she can see stars and hear birdsong outside, which is nice for her.

> Look for the source of the fire

You look for the source of the fire. There isn't any sign that anyone set it on fire, though you find some ashes nearby.

> Go back to Sotak on a raft and ask the Sotakians about the fire

You go back to Sotak on a raft and ask the Sotakians about the fire. They don't seem to be aware of anything out of the ordinary happening, but they say that there were signs before the flames reached them.

> Ask what the signs were

You ask what the signs were. The people don't answer right away, but eventually one answers: "The sun was shining."

> Ask if there is any way that the threat of fires on the Land of Fire can be stopped.

You ask if there is any way that the threat of fires on the Land of Fire can be stopped. No-one knows how to do it, so you try asking Hildegard again. She says she has no idea either, but she'll try to figure something out.

> Wait for Hilde to figure something out.

You wait for Hilde to figure something out. Eventually she comes back with a plan: she will make a small boat and float across the lake.

> Go to the lake

You go to the lake. It's pretty cold, so you take off your coat and put it over your shirt instead. You then put on a pair of shorts and socks.

> Look for a magical source of fire

You look for a magical source of fire. You find nothing, so you decide to leave the lake and return home.

> Worry about the fire

You worry about the fire. When you get back to your house, you notice that the wind has changed direction. The sky is now dark and threatening rain clouds are forming above the land. You think that this might be bad news, but then another day arrives and everything goes well.

> Look out to sea

You look out to sea. You see that the storm is moving towards the coast, which means that you should probably head inland as soon as possible.

> Go into the wooden fort

You go into the wooden fort. The walls are made from wood, but they're weak and flimsy enough that you could easily break through them with ease. There isn't much food or water here either; you'd need to bring supplies from somewhere else to survive for several days at least.

> Grow fruit trees and crops around the fort

You grow fruit trees and crops around the wooden fort. You plant some apples, pears, plums and cherries in an attempt to keep yourself fed while you wait for more supplies to arrive.

> Ask Hilde if she is happy with life in the Land of Fire

You ask Hilde if she is happy with life in the Land of Fire. She replies that she is, but she would like to move away eventually. You don't really know what to say, so you just tell her that you understand and agree.

> Tell Hilde that I have fallen in love with her

You tell Hilde that you have fallen in love with her. She says that she doesn't believe you, but agrees anyway. You kiss each other before parting ways.

> Search the Land of Fire again

You search the Land of Fire again. This time, you try to locate where the magical source of fire is located. You manage to track down a small village near the center of the forest, but there aren't many people living there anymore.

> Look at the village

You look at the village. It's now a barren wasteland, though it looks very pretty when viewed from afar. You wonder how anyone could ever want to live there now.

> Talk to the villagers

You talk to the villagers. They seem very sad and depressed, but they still give you information on where the source of fire is located. You find that it's not far from their village, but it seems to be surrounded by thick forests.

> Ask the villagers if they would like to move to the wooden fort

You ask the villagers if they would like to move to the wooden fort. They all say yes, so you make preparations for moving everyone.

> Ask the villagers how to destroy the Source Of Fire

You ask the villagers how to destroy the Source Of Fire. They reply that you'll need a lot of wood, which will take a few years to gather. You suggest that you should head back home first, since there's no point in waiting any longer.

> Lead the villagers back to the fort

You lead the villagers back to the fort. The next day, you return to see if everything has been successful.

> Go deeper in the forest to find the Source of Fire

You go deeper into the forest, hoping that you can find the source of fire. You travel through several different areas until you finally reach a large tree trunk covered in moss and vines. The place looks rather dangerous; however, you're confident that you can get inside without too much trouble.

> Search for an entrance

You search for an entrance to the cavern. You use your sword as a guide, but unfortunately, you don't succeed in finding one. After searching around some more, you decide that it might be better if you went back home first.

> Go home and get Hilde

You go home and get Hilde. She seems happy with her new life, but she says that she doesn't really feel safe here anymore. She asks you to stay with her for a while, since she feels safer alone than with others.

> Bring Hilde to the large tree trunk

You bring Hilde to the large tree trunk. As soon as you enter, you notice that it's completely dark inside. There are two doors on either side of the room: one leads outside and another leads inside.

> Go inside with Hilde

You enter with Hilde. You walk forward slowly, and then suddenly you hear a loud noise from above. It sounds like something fell down from the sky! Then, you realize what happened when you look up at the ceiling: a hole has opened in the roof of this cave!

> Look for the Source of Fire

You look for the Source of Fire. Unfortunately, you can't find anything, not even a crack in the ground where you think it could be located. You try to figure out what to do next...

> Look where the light comes into the cave

You look for where the light comes into the cave. You find a small opening just under the surface of the water, right near where you were standing before. Inside is a pool of water, which glows faintly whenever sunlight shines upon it.

> Step into the pool of water

You step into the pool of water. It's warm and refreshing, and you take a moment to enjoy yourself. Suddenly, you feel very thirsty...

> Drink the glowing water

You drink the glowing water. It tastes sweet and pleasant, but also slightly bitter. You feel refreshed after drinking it, and you wonder why you didn't ever experience such feelings before. When you finish drinking it, you notice that there is now a faint glow coming from your body.

> Go further into the cave

You continue deeper into the cave. Eventually, you come across a large stone table covered with various items. On top of it sits a man wearing armor made entirely of wood. He looks older than he should, and his face shows signs of weariness and exhaustion.

> Ask the man what his name is

You ask the man who his name is. He tells you that it's Nolazir, and that he was once a great hero of the Empire, but he lost all faith in its gods when they abandoned him.

> Ask Nolazir if it is him who burned the Land of Fire

You ask Nolazir if it is him who burned the Land of Fire. He says no, but he doesn't deny that he may have been involved somehow.

> Ask Nolazir how he was involved

You ask Nolazir how he was involved. He tells you that he had an old grudge against the elves, so one day he decided to burn their village because they'd done nothing to help him during his time as a hero.

> Ask why the whole island keeps getting burned and all the people left

You ask why the entire island keeps getting burnt and all the people left. He explains that it's because of a curse placed on them by their god, who wanted to punish them for being evil. The only way to break this curse is to kill every single person on the island.

> Ask Nolazir if there is no other way to break the curse

You ask Nolazir if there is no other way to break the curse. He says yes, but it requires someone powerful enough to do it. He then points at you and asks if you're up for the task.

> Agree to break the curse and ask what must be done

You agree to break the curse and ask what must be done. Nolazir tells you that you'll need to find a witch called Klyton, and bring her back some magical ingredients she needs.

> Go to find Klyton

You go to find Klyton. She lives in a small cottage near the forest, which seems like a good place to start looking since she has a lot of herbs and plants.

> Go to the cottage

> Return to find Nolazir

You return to find Nolazir waiting for you. He informs you that he drank the potion too, and now he feels better than ever!

> Leave Hilde and return to the wooden fort

You leave Hilde behind and return to the wooden fort. The people there say nothing more about her, but you do notice that they seem much happier now. They even start talking excitedly about what they found on the island!

> Ask the people what they found on the island

The people of the wooden fort are very happy when they find out that they found an entire village on the island! They also mention how many animals live there too. After this news is relayed to you, you are overjoyed!

> Ask the people of the Land of Fire if they wish to rename it the Land of Herbs and Flowers now the curse is lifted.

The people of the land of fire agree to name it the Land of Herbs and Flowers. This seems to be enough happiness for you, so you decide to stay here until you can get back home again.

> Ask the people of the Land of Herbs and Flowers who they want to govern the island now

The people of the Land of Herbs and Flowers choose to elect a new ruler. A man named Thrakaar, who has been ruling since his father's death. He says he will serve for life, and that he hopes you'll make him king one day.

> Gather the people together for a coronation ceremony

You gather all the people together at your castle. It takes some time, but eventually everyone agrees to a coronation ceremony. You tell them that you're going to leave soon, so they should hurry up and prepare for their new ruler as well as themselves.

> Crown Thrakaar as King Thrakaar the Wise of the Land of Herbs and Flowers

You give Thrakaar the crown and say "This is my successor, King Thrakaar the Wise of the Land of Herbs and Flowers!" Everyone cheers loudly, and you walk off into the distance.

A few days later, you return to your castle.

> Wait on the shore for the Prydwen to return

> Ask Hilde if she will stay here in the Land of Herbs and Flowers or come back to Larion

> Wish Hilde every happiness and kiss her hand, then go aboard the ship

You wish Hilde every happiness and kiss her hand before boarding the ship. As you board, you see that it is actually bigger than you thought. You wonder where the heck did all these wood planks come from?

> Sail the Prydwen off into the distance

You sail the ship off into the distance, away from your shores. Soon after, you hear a loud explosion behind you. The ship explodes in flames, killing most of its crew instantly.

> Swim to any shore I can find

You swim to any shore you can find, hoping that there might still be survivors. Unfortunately, there aren't many left by the time you reach the next town. Most of those that were saved have died from disease or starvation.

> Go to the town

You decide to head to the town of Nuln. There are rumors that it may have food stores, so you hope that there will be enough to survive here. You enter the city and look around for supplies.

> Find a tavern

You find a tavern. It looks like it has been abandoned for quite awhile, but you see people sitting outside drinking ale and talking about nothing in particular. You don't really care to join them though; you're not exactly an ale drinker anyway.

- CONGRATULATIONS! YOU WIN! -

Including this interaction:
QuoteYou walk up to the nearest table and kneel down before the King.

Someone even made a short film from a particularly disjointed and bizarre story:

The duke, the wanderer, the philosopher, the mariner, the warrior, the strategist, the storyteller, the wizard, the wayfarer...
