Staples have made a test to see how fast you can read, it will ask you 3 questions at the end to test if you have read it properly, not skimmed so pay attention.

I thought it would be fun/interesting to see how fast people on exilian can read. My score was 553 words per minute which is 121% faster than the national average.

Don't do it multiple times as it seems to be the same passage, so just do it once and post your times here and we can see who wins. :)

766 in my case. Not that surprising given fast reading is basically what I spend half my life doing.

Fair enough, I was happy being above most people my age by several hundred words per minute and also above high ranked executives.

You read 218 words per minute, 13% slower than the national average. I like to take my time reading books, I got all three answers right both times I tried it. When I read books I read it at the same pace as if someone were saying it.

He is Jubal the modder, Jubal the wayfarer, Jubal the admin. And he has come to me now, at the turning of the tide.

Tom

That's understandable, often I get so in to the book I skip paragraphs and let my imagination make up the details. I did get all the questions right though. :)

Jubal

I vary my speed a lot - reading for enjoyment I do quite slowly, reading for information I'm a lot faster.  :)

I read at the same speed pretty much constantly

More than I thought since I sometimes go back and reread a few bits here and there.

It'd be interesting to know if there are any significant differences in the national average between different English-speaking countries.

Tbh I think the staples test is based on American averages but that would be really interesting :)
