I still don't get all the fuss about 9.11.
It happened 11 years ago, maybe we should let bygones be bygones or smthig like that.
I think that the "Never forget" slogan just makes the person who organized it proud(in some sick way).
Also, I didn't see any saying 3.11. or 1.12. (and I guess most ppl  don't even know what happened on those dates).
9.11. does have all that terrorism thing behind it but other dates I mentioned influence me more than 9.11. does.

I guess few countries do patriotism quite like the US does. The British are patriotic, but in a much more... relaxed way. We take the piss out of our own nationalism in a way America doesn't seem to quite understand, and we don't understand their more clearly fervent devotion to their country in the same way.

I don't think 9/11 is "not worth the fuss", and it's not unfair that it's still a major wound for the US in its national psyche. I can see an argument that the prominence the US gives to it gives its enemies more incentive to try and twist the same knife, though.

Well, I think that after 11 years it should be a scar, not a wound.

leave the wound open and the adrenaline keeps pumping and american political figures can use it as justification

Do you Croats consider, say, the shelling of Dubrovnik to be a wound or a scar, out of interest?

America has been historically un-used to being attacked on its on soil which probably increased the shock of it all.

attacked on its own soil by foreigners you should say, they have plenty of wounds from gun rampages by american citizens

I consider that a scar and I think that most young people (up to 30) consider it a scar. I like to get over things not drag them around forever. Although there are lots of people who will never get over it either cause they lost some1 in war or cause they were in the army fighting for independence.
