Need help installing

I've tried to install Warhammer Total War by following the instructions in the readme, but the program shortcut failed. I thought I did something wrong so I reinstalled the game. Would someone be able to help me install the mod please?
Also, does the mod need any expansions? I am currently running Rome without any other mods or expansions (haven't got any of them).

You need RTW 1.5 with no expansions.

The main WHTW folder goes directly into your Rome - Total War folder so the path is Rome - Total War/WHTW/Data/[other files]
Then make a shortcut for Rome - Total War as normal.
Right-click it, hit "properties".
Where it has the path, go right to the very end and add -mod:WHTW
Then it should work.

Unless you're using steam, in which case there's a different way of doing it.

Ok, I'm looking for the 1.5 patch right now. It's been a while since I played the game and I haven't got any of the patches yet.
I'm not using steam.

There's one from fileplanet labeled 1.3-1.5. Is that the patch needed?

What version is your game now? If it isn't already 1.3 or higher then you need to install 1.3 before doing the 1.3-1.5

The game hasn't had a patch (got it before I got broadband and I haven't played it in a while) so I'll go get them now.

Ok, the patches are installed. Should I move the folders into the Rome - Total War folder next?

Yeah, now do the stuff I said in the order I put and it *should* work.
