For once I can agree with Obama in that they shouldn't have cancelled the release.

I also agree with you, and Obama, on that. I half wonder if they did it so they could release it via their own online systems, claim it was all a censorship thing, and then rake in tons of cash directly without movie theatres as the middle man now their film has become major international news...

Those who are permitted to have enough contact with the outside world probably do. However, the Supreme Leader also seems to be the closest thing we've seen to a divine ruler since probably the Pharaohs, so it's unlikely that people who know what the rest of the world thinks of him will point this out.
