Hmm, I see what you mean, and I agree. As it is a game that I enjoy I pre-ordered it so t didn't cost me more when it came out. I was going to get it one way or the other, I just though, for me, pre-ordering it was the best way. Especially considering it releases just next month.

But I do see where you're coming from and I do agree.

Honestly I just wanted to bring up the topic, have been meaning to for a while but didn't want to create a thread for it along with my other bullarmadillo ramblings :P

While I am excited for the DLC, I am waiting for a steam sale before purchasing. On a related note, has anyone else tried the Napoleonic Wars Expansion. If you can't abide multiplayer I can't recommend it, however if you are willing to overlook this the gameplay is brilliant. It seriously lacks a single player mode though.

From what I've heard it's apparently really buggy at the minute, frame rate issues galore.

Oh, I haven't been experiencing that. But I do like some of the new mechanics, particularly the seas battles and travel is really well done and improved. Another thing I like was that now they have ferries you can cross big rivers on. Another cool thing is that you have to ask permission from the lord that own the village you want to recruit from to be able to recruit from it, or you can got straight to the ruler of the faction and ask permission to recruit from that factions villages. There isn't all that much variety in weapons and armour, but I suppose that comes with trying to make it more realistic for the era it's set in.

The trouble with this sort of thing for kit is that the individual pieces should in theory be very much more individual since everything is handmade, but with a relatively small range of materials and basic styles. Ideally you want some way of inputting random variation to the same base items more...
The duke, the wanderer, the philosopher, the mariner, the warrior, the strategist, the storyteller, the wizard, the wayfarer...

+1 Jub. That idea is awesome, is it possible creating a table for each weapon and randomising the model? I know there are tables for each soldier but can there be tables within tables? Tableception! Probably, idk :/

I actually had this idea for a game where absolutely everything was purely randomly generated. Every model, texture, everything. But I don't know if that's possible or not.

Hahaha, no, that's not what I mean. In roguelikes, all the art is predrawn, than randomly placed in the game. What I mean is that you'll never find any two things in the whole game that look alike.

Imagine Skyrim where you have 100 iron swords and each of them look different. That it what I mean.

"Write a random generator to produce n unique and sensible-looking swords" sounds like an interesting task.

Cuddly Khan

Exactly. :P Not impossible, but if you were to write a game where the whole world were like that... now that would be a long and difficult task...

The textures would be the worst part I feel.
