A teaser for a book I am writing, figured I would post it here to see if anyone liked it.

"Kyrathan Dynathar was a normal Felarvir teenager; he lived in the province of Drurodreth in the Empire of Jairelik. The Empire was managed by Emperor Trelvas IV, and was currently the largest nation in the lands of Undbrine. Kyrathan was not short, but neither was he considered to be quite tall, a 5' 11

Cool, we will be waiting for more...
"Less of a young professional - more of an ancient amateur. But frankly, I'm an absolute dream."

Quote from: "Darkstar707"Before you ask about the "Gladeborn" yes, I ganked the name from Chronicles of Talera, WHAT U GONNA DO BOUT IT? As for everything else, I love the fantasy name generator.
WE won't do anything, but the creators of CoT are gonna sue for Copyright Infringment if you actually do write and publish this book.

Other than that, it looks quite good.
I used to do actual stuff around here, don't you know?

I would be ever so grateful if you would visit my YouTube Channel :)

Meh, I will change it to Valleyborn then. Or forestborn or maybe Sanctuaryborn.

Really I doubt they could sue me anyway. Or I could just add a "e" to the end of borne and say I was from the UK.

I mean, how many times has the word "orc" been used?!?

Just don;t make it anyting born, Kifai is fine on its own.

When is the setting? Use of the words 'teenager', 'homework' and other modern words should be avoided in a work of high fantasy.
The duke, the wanderer, the philosopher, the mariner, the warrior, the strategist, the storyteller, the wizard, the wayfarer...

Darkstar707

^True thanks Jubal and everybody!

Really, I do see your point about the Gladeborn issue, but I am pointing out that only the name came from their mod, just like Blizzard ganked "orcs" and Warhammer did. If I did publish the book I would probably give them credit anyways.

It is supposed to be a setting about a high fantasy with "vampiric" beings (not called vampires in the book though, as they are my variation and don't get killed in the sun)

Jubal

Yea... the reason it ends up looking incongruous is that in the medieval era they had no concept of teenagers, it just went child-adult. Several modern fantasy writers haven't realised this, and their work tends to suffer as a result.
The duke, the wanderer, the philosopher, the mariner, the warrior, the strategist, the storyteller, the wizard, the wayfarer...
