Giraffes are now endangered
« on: March 28, 2018, 12:23:38 PM »

There's apparently been a major drop in giraffe numbers in the last 30 years or so, and they're now ranked as vulnerable on the IUCN red list for the first time, with under 100,000 left in the wild :(

That's troubling news.  :(

Strange that the WWF dont seem to have added them to their list https://www.worldwildlife.org/species/directory?direction=desc&sort=extinction_status

I think the WWF only list the ones they work on/with directly, there? I could certainly name a number of endangered species not on that list (all 8 species of pangolin, for example)... the IUCN Red List is definitely treated as the authoritative judgement on what counts as endangered by conservationists, in any case.
