Portal 2
« on: May 05, 2011, 03:03:25 PM »
So, I bought this the other day, at full whack (£29.99) and I have to say it's well worth it. The puzzles seem a bit more formulaic than P1, but the storyline and plot progression is top notch.

Anyone else got this? Your thoughts?

I pre-purchased it on steam a few months ago (mainly so that I could get a free copy of the original for my brother) and have been eagerly awaiting it since then. It was worth the wait :D .

I found most of the early puzzles to be easier than in Portal 1, but that was made up for with the bigger range of tools to figure out how to use/think with in the later chambers, some of which actually had me stuck for a while (I only got truly stuck on one chamber in P1). As with the first game, the dialogue is fantastic, and the addition of more characters who are also brilliantly written has strengthened this area of the game. I also found the story to be quite interesting and actually got caught off-guard by one or two things in it; unlike most games I have played.

One thing I did notice however was that in the older Aperture chambers the graphics showed up the age of the Source engine somewhat, since the textures needed to be somewhat more detailed than in the more modern style chambers. This is only a minor problem though, and overall I thought it was a great game, better than Portal 1 in my opinion.

I really enjoyed the different feel of the old test chambers, it felt quite eerie, like stepping back in time, pretty much.

Hey SotK, would you be able to do a co-op campaign with me at some point?

Unfortunately I am now on the end of the internet and with a laptop that will not be able to handle it.
