What sorts of courses would you be most interested in? (II)

I was thinking of attempting to build a date converter for the Warhammer 40,000 Imperial Dating System in Python. I'm not sure how to provide an input form. That is to say how to think about menus.

That sounds like Tkinter would be more useful. I could learn PyQt, but I would rather just do a simple tutorial or two for that rather than a whole Academy course.

So I've had an idea. Would there be interest in a sort of 'journal club' like set up? Say if a piece of research hits the news, or someone stumbles across a paper and they're not sure what to make of it, or want to discuss the ideas it brings up, then they could bring it there for community discussion?

The only issue I can see is the problem of pay walls to access some journals. But there are quite a few that are open access, or that I'm sure at least of few of us here will have access to in order to comment on it.

I'd be interested in this, absolutely Though of course we'll have something of a gap in skillsets given our very broad range of disciplines.

I'd definitely be interested, always looking to expand my academic horizons! And I guess you could stipulate that free versions of the paper must be available... Though Google Scholar has never failed me on that front.

As Lizard has expressed interest in running a C++ course, and I've not actually done much with it in over a year, would anyone be interested if I ran a Python course instead?

If Lizard is willing to take up the C++ front, then by all means, a Python course would be much appreciated, Sir King. I don't think it matters who does it, as much as it gets done, giving the community the resources to learn and grow.

I'm trying to take CS50 through edX at the moment and they seem keen on C. If I survive I'm thinking that Python will be a friendly face compared to C!
