I'm actually tempted to accept that challenge, CG. I can't think of a good strategy though... yet.

Just finished the last part of The Pacific last night. Nearly all my respect for the fighting forces of WWII went straight to the US Marines.

The Polish for me. Regardless of how they ended up going it takes real guts to order a cavalry charge into guns. And they pulled it off several times too. I read somewhere that there were about 20 I think confirmed Polish cavalry charges and of them, only one was unsuccessful although from memory a few of those victories were a little Pyhrric...

Still, while they didn't charge into tanks, they had major balls. Real men fight machine gunners with sabre and lance. :P

Brave but stupid, pretty much a reminder of WWI there.

Yesterday I fitted a new exhaust to my van, the old one had rusted to bits, and replaced the gasket on my differential. Unfortunately in the process of draining the diff, I ended up having an early shower consisting of warm diff oil, in my face, eyes, nose mouth, hair and over a good chunk of my right arm. Not nice.

cavalry were still an effective force in WWI despite what high school history teachers say

though useless in trench warfare, they were still amazing in pitched battles and ambushes
Tis but a scratch...

Phoenixguard09

Aaah except I was talking about WWII. ;)  But yes, cavalry was still effective, just a little vulnerable cause they present a larger target than infantry.

IIRC, the Polish largely used their cavalry as mobilised infantry, not so different to the Wehrmacht's use of motorbikes and trucks, just more... squishy.

And then of course, as Phoenixguard said, many successful charges with sabre and lance against infantry, the only unsuccessful one being when a panzer division suddenly turned up. Definitely agree, major respect for them.

P.S. I wanted to add that winged hussar emoticon we had, but we don't have it on this new forum. :(

P.P.S. Of course, we should really be giving our respect to the ANZACs today.

Indeed Andalus you are correct from what I know and remember as well.

We also need to add the old emotes. I liked them better than these ones anyway, but no matter. :P

Guys have you heard about War of the Roses?
Pretty, pretty new game.

I just found out there is actually such a thing as a happy number. Awesome. :D
