Okay, this is just a for fun thing.
The aim is to design the best adventuring party ever.
The rules are as follows.
Your party must have each of the following in:
- A melee fighter
To be judged on both ability to deal and to withstand damage in mano-a-mano melee combat
- A ranged attacker
To be judged on ability to deal damage at range
- A tracker/ranger/rogue
Tracking, thieving, pickpocketing, hunting, fishing, backup fighting are all useful abilities here
- A cleric (remember, they can be cleric of a cause, so Richard Dawkins could count for the cause of science and reason if you want)
To be judged on ability to keep the party's morale up and keep the moral compass of the team in a fixed position for better or worse. Medical skills a bonus.
- A bard
To be judged on ability to boost morale, compose songs about the party, record their deeds, and of course ability at music and stagecraft.
- Another specialist (filling the usual role of wizard, but we're using real people; a strategist or medic might be optimal here)
To be judged on general usefulness to the party as a whole, based on the skills & weaknesses of the other members
You yourself MUST fulfil one of the roles. The technology used will be fantasy style (assume some basic gunpowder exists, but only hand cannon style), so don't take a specialist based on their ability at driving fast cars. You may pick any real person from human history (be they a famous historical figure, modern celebrity, or even member of this forum) for any of the roles, alive or dead.
You then post your party! You may not use a person someone else has used in the same category so it's first come first served on that front (this also applies to people using themselves, if CG posts first and puts me as his melee fighter I may not then be the melee fighter in my own party).
Once we have a number of entries (say in a week or so), we'll make six polls battling the equivalents from each team against one another to see who the Exilian populace think will win. The team with the best overall score are the winners!
