I don't have a favourite book but I do like:
the Bas-Lag series of novels by China Mievllie; a brilliant and unique fantasy setting
Conn Iggulden both the Emperor and Conqueror series, very well written and immersive
The Mortal Engines series, by Phillip Reeve; again a wonderful and unique setting
His Dark Materials, by Phillip Pullman; my love of alternative fantasy shines through once again, a fabulous setting and a great read
