Yeah, the Roman frontier is a bad place xD

Will

The Roman frontier is a bad place... as well as all the other frontiers.  :)

Give Rome II a break Saw, so more patches can be released, and continue on with our glorious Thracian empire and relive the golden days of ye olde Rome. :)

Jubal

What the cowman said ^

So... Memphis is temporarily lost. On the plus side its counter attack time on the Egyptian front, and I just need to defeat the Scipii stack at Thebes before the road to Memphis is open again. In the process of rescuing this game a little ;D .

comrade_general

Hell yeah, way to keep it going. ;D

Son of the King

I hope nobody was too attached to Satres or Dizazelmis :P .

comrade_general

Dizzy was like a brother to me. I hope he died gloriously. :(

Son of the King

Rest assured, he did :) .

Jubal

Anyone up for a WHTW swap?

OK I'm done, who is next?

Roman Front

Memphis was lost (or maybe it was already Scipii, I can't remember). Sautes almost perished trying to reclaim it, but ended up in Thebes. Thebes was then besieged by a Scipii stack, and defended at the sad cost of Satres and 'Dizzy'. Then, as preparations for an attack on Memphis were being made, it rebelled back into our hands! The rest of the decade was then spent fighting off wave after wave of Scipii from the three cities in Egypt, whilst trying to raise something of an invasion force in between attacks. The Urbans arrived.

'Egypt' front

We are thankfully still at peace with Pontus, although Parthia are struggling a little against them. I saw an opportunity with the Egypt front, namely most of their force was wandering around, and therefore I quickly sent a couple of armies to capture Palmyra and Dumantha. After a couple of attempts at breaking the sieges by Egypt, the cities were ours and a good portion of the Egyptian army wiped out. Towards the end of the decade, the Egyptian king brought a full stack to Dumantha for a suicidal rush down the city streets. Sadly he escaped, although almost all of his army was killed. Egypt are ripe for the taking.

Other stuff, like advice

I sent a guy down to Egypt to help defend/prepare to counter attack, as well as getting a good sized army going in Jerusalem (pikes and archers and cavalry) to send down in the future for an offensive push. Sadly I never got around to doing this, but should maybe be a priority given the sheer number of armies pouring out of Scipii territory...

As I said above, Egypt are ripe for the taking. I'd recommend heading for Selucia via the army near Palmyra, and then their last city that isn't Salamis to finish them on the mainland. Salamis can be done when we are a little less stretched by Rome.

BY NO MEANS abandon the defences in the north, any sign of weakness there and I fear that Pontus will be waiting. They had some largish armies around Antioch most of the time. I would however try to remain at peace with them for as long as possible, to focus spending and effort on the Roman front.

Also the financial state is not good, since the sieges of the Egyptian cities ruined the income for most of my turn. However it is quite healthy when they are not besieged, giving yet another reason to try to push back against Rome.

comrade_general

Do believe it's my turn then. :P
