Tom Bombadil
« on: March 18, 2014, 07:27:30 PM »
I came across this http://km-515.livejournal.com/1042.html

I quite like the idea. Opinions?

He sounds like a really awesome guy. I didn't read it all but I skimmed it.

He is Jubal the modder, Jubal the wayfarer, Jubal the admin. And he has come to me now, at the turning of the tide.

Nice theory but I don't know enough about the lore of LOTR to pass judgement.

I totally didn't post this on facebook yesterday....

But it's an interesting theory, not sure if Tolkien intended for this interpretation though (similar to the 'is dumbledore really ron' theory)
Tis but a scratch...

This is kind of like the Grandpa Joe is evil stuff, of which I am a firm believer. :P

I need to look these up. I have not heard of them before.

On reflection

I quite like the Ron-Dumbledore thing but I'm utterly unconvinced the Grandpa Joe thing.
The Tom Bombadil thing is, I think, much more compelling than either of those though.

But Gramps spent 20 years in a bed making his daughter wipe his rear when he could dance the whole time! :P

Exactly! That's why he was evil.

I did read through the link, maybe that's one of the reasons he's lecherous and therefore, evil.

I read the Star Wars one, which I like better. I haven't read the LotR books so I really have no idea who this Tom Bombadil is.
