It was Tony Hawk's first go: I imagine that it might be something where you need your feet strapped to it to do much. Also the current models are really heavy, so it's not yet well designed for standard skateboard tricks etc, it's a very different beast.

You might as well just have metal plated soles on the shoes than have magnets in the tops of the shoes, so much more efficient.
