NEW CLANGERS

The new Clangers series has started! And it's not actually terrible! I watched the first episode today. I felt it was pretty good and reasonably faithful to the original - I feel the costume changes etc kind of reinforced a "clanger nuclear family" idea which wasn't so heavily loaded and explicit in the original, which is a pity, but visually and with the voiceover it felt more or less right and the story was cute

MoD and I watched the first two episodes earlier, and I thought it was good. I agree on the costume changes, but it was much better than I was worried it would be!

There has been, however, a distinct lack of Baby Soups so far.

Baby soups is like the allosaurus in OOTS: it's objectively pretty much the best thing ever, but I feel one shouldn't reveal it too soon or too often as the squee suckerpunch may get overplayed. I'm still optimistic

I watched too! I was actually impressed,  I was expecting it to be a horrific remake like the new fireman Sam or Banana's in pyjamas.

Still watching these episodes! I think they've started with new new episodes this month (they'd made 52 completely new episodes before airing any, and showed about half last summer).

I meant to catch up with these but never did. Maybe when I've finally got through all of Fireball.

We watch them on my phone before bed (probably as the intended target audience do)
