The Altdorf City Watch are a ragged remant of a once proud organisation. determined to bring order to the streets, these last survivors are prepared to fight to the death for thier cause.

Alfredo Langer
While often not the nicest claimant, Langer is moer than prepared to put some of his famed wealth into keeping the city safe for commerce and accruing of more riches. He often helped the guard even as other nobles abandoned them, and so now they are the last few of their number they know only he is actually committed to allowing Altdorf to return to the rule of not just an Emperor, or an inquisition, but civilian law.

Captain Vimes
Leader of the unit, he is a capable fighter and determined to make sure the watch can regrow and restore order on the streets.

Lieutenant Jubal
Young and intellectual, he was thrown out of the University for his dangerous philosophical ideas and joined the watch to make ends meet. He is a weak fighter, but clever and more than ready to so whatever is needed for victory.

Sargeant Mara
Tough, uncompromising, and one of the toughest fighters on Altdorf's streets, Mara, despite being quite old, is a force to be feared. Even ogres worry about being attacked by Mara.

Master at Arms, John Keel
Keel is reckless, incredibly determined, and brave to a fault, the master at arms will make certain the watch have the best weapons on the streets of Altdorf. He bears a resemblance to his cousin, a nororiously harsh disciplinarian, which has led to many former members of the watch wanting to kill him on occasion. He had his arm amputated after week 3.

Lieutenant Hemmar (Crusty Vet)
Hemmar is a man born for the streets. Never happy off the battlefield, he thrives for the danger of street warfare. He survived in a gutted guardhouse in an undead-infested area of Altdorf for three years before the Watch found him. He joined the band on week one, and was upgrade on week two.

Lieutenant Johannes (Crusty Vet)
Johannes was upgraded on week four. A wary, quiet man, he is braver than most and has learned all the tricks of the copper's trade.

2 Crusty Veterans

Foul Ole Ron, the beggar
Ron's strengths are finding money, wheedling, and muttering. His weaknesses include everything else, most notably personal hygiene.

2 recruits

TURN ONE

Clashing over a tributary of the Reik in the suburbs, a small band of Dwarfs obstructed the path of the watch. Neither side took serious casualties in the fight, and eventually the Watch had to cede passage to the Dwarfs in return for a promise of future good behaviour in the streets. The Watch were able to find enough treasure to buy more missile weapons, and were also joined by a beggar, Foul Ole Ron, who has promised to help them find more gold in future. A gutted old watch house was also luckily discovered in the area, with a single veteran of the old guards squatting there, living on what was left of the old watch supplies. He has agreed to join the warband.

Thought of any fluff for the Watch and the Vigilante yet? Mabye Von Well tall has made some sort of deal with them concerning the Witch Hunters, a vow to stick by the law or to leave their captured witches to the justice of the Watch.

Update; Turn 2 passed without incident. A warlock and two raw recruits were hired, and a crusty veteran became a hero.

Turn three: The city guard took a severe pounding as they found themselves pincered by Haflings and Norscans. Keel noticed a vaguely familiar face on the opposing side. "Grymn? That was really grymn? Oh crud... I'm wearing my cousin Grahn's old armour, he probably thinks I'm him. Oh crud, my bastard cousing had Grymn flogged once. Oh crud, he's got a crossbow. AAHH myarmmyarmmyarm." The arm had to be amputated - Keel will be staying at the barracks a lot from now on.

Alfredo's bravado got the better of him; a Hafling knight took him prisoner, and it took a hefty ransom to free both him and the Warlock, who was also captured.

The Guard have not done well so far, but they're struggling by pretty decently considering the defeats. Maybe soon they'll finally be able to get strong enough to beat someone.  :-/

Oh noes, Grym shot the cousin?
Good job your an enemy, otherwise Grym may have felt bad. He'll be sure to appologise next week (by shooting everyone else in the arm so Keel doesn't feel like a loner.)

Grymn meant to shoot the cousin, but the cousin died (I've written a bit of fluff on word that isn't posted here, Keel genuinely did have a cousin in it).

Grym shall hunt the dead brother down and shoot his corpse.
Actualy that could make for a fun special scenario agaisnt an undead band.

Turn four...

Gasping and panting for breath, it was a very dishevelled Alfredo Langer who finally managed to get back from the battlefield.

"Everyone alright?"
He could see everyone. Even both the new recruits had got back after some negotiation. But wait...

Mara shook his head. Vimes was gone.
--------------------------
Vimes was in captivity by the Norscans, despite a brave fight the guards had been jumped in an alley and pounded severely. He was alive at least, and had even offered his services to the Ulricans while he was imprisoned, but nevertheless things looked grim.

Jubal paced up and down, thinking what to do. Grugann, the warlock, had left; Vimes was gone; Keel disabled; the watch had sixteen gold crowns and not many men.

Alfredo and Mara were arguing over strategy, while Keel re-sharpened swords for the next battle, helped by the recruits. What could they do? All seemed lost. Two of their best fighters gone, not enough money... it was hopeless, utterly so.

Swinging Keel's old crossbow up, an angered Jubal fired at the roof of the battered old watch house that they were praying no looters or warriors found. There was only one thing for it.
----------------------
Konstantinos the Exile was not, in most people's recknoing, a nice man. He'd made himself less of a repuation than an urban myth, mostly by cutting anyone who was in his way into something vaguely resembling sludge, except sludge doesn't wobble so much when it gets prodded.

"Jubal"

"I'm here."

"And you need me?"

"Your promise, Konstantinos. I got you out of the old city. You owe me."

"I owe you? I? Owe you? A mere guard?"

Jubal stepped up to the man. He was quaking as he talked, but there were no other options left.

"Remember Thomas, Konstanin. He's dead now. You owe him at least."

The name shocked the tall, powerful warrior. "Thomas..."

--------------------------------------------------------

It was a day later that Jubal returned, with the one man who could perhaps save them. A blademaster....
