Paintbrushes - how do you deal with stray/kinked hairs?

Basically what the title says, I've got some quite new ones, not splayed at all yet or anything, but with one or two hairs that curl and totally mess up any fine painting I want to do.
Any hints?

I haven't painted anything for about 35 years, so I'm probably not the best person to comment. I suspect I would find the offending hairs and cut them off - I would guess needlework or embroidery scissors would be good, being quite small.

New ones do it before they get broken in then again when they wear out.
