Books > Films of books
Books are normally (practically always) better than films of the book. Because in a book everything is open to your own imagination and interpretation. For example, when I first read LotR years ago I imagined Middle Earth as I wanted to, then on seeing the films I always feel limited by how places looked in them whenever I read the books.
Films also miss out parts in books, for example the Old Forest in LotR is either non-existant or very small and insgnificant, at least in the version I've seen (I haven't seen the extended versions so I don't know if its in there). In the book this is a big part, and my favourite character (Tom Bombadil
) isn't even in the film
.
Same goes for Twilight, the book is better than the film, although still not a marvellous work of fiction. The film is really dire though.
