Yeah, Cntrl+F5 should usually fix that if you're using Firefox (I think Chrome works the same but I'm not using that as much any more).

And now if you do so, you should see the Cyril & Methodius day banner, which unusually is going up a well timed full week before the day itself :)

The C&M day banner is duly down (this really is the banner-switching bit of the year, what with the birthday banner going up in March).

And back to plain title for a few months :)

A couple of forum theme tweaks made today: I noticed that code boxes were unreadable so those now have a darker background, and error boxes had a black box with black text so that's also been changed.

OK, something I'd actually like feedback on:

Historically, we've changed the forum logo for special occasions by changing the actual filenames at the back end. This is fine, but the only problem is that it often takes time to filter through people's caching systems and I think some people end up with it on a large lag.

SMF 2 allows us a different option, which I've just used for the halloween logo, which is to change the pointing in the stylesheet/theme section. This has the large advance that it should be essentially instantaneous and removes the cache problem. The problem with that is that it will update a given forum theme but won't update the front end of the website, which isn't tied to the forum theming in that way.

Basically, how concerned are we that e.g. we put the halloween title on the articles and Exilian home front pages when it's this time of year?

Personally, not very concerned. I think people initially coming to the home page and articles are unlikely to be worried about the more social aspect of the site.
The only problem I can see with updating the forum theme is that we're not all using the same theme, but we only have three themes installed so hopefully it's not a major job to update them all at the same time.

Yes, it takes a little longer to do all three but not much time really.

Just realised I was very late taking the halloween decorations down. The management apologises to any hallowed creatures who have been trying to bring saintly light to Exilian without success over the last three weeks :)

Christmas banner is up, I have arbitrarily declared that it is now the festive season.
