Exilian Mock Election

Okay, just for fun since it's nearly the UK Election (in a couple months).

Here's my challenge. Create your own political party! Or join one someone else has made. Then, when we have all of them we'll put it up to vote and see which is most popular.

We're going for this to assume the absence of a recession; you're competing to control a medium sized, moderately comforatble but not terribly rich country. Thus you can indulge in whatever political philosophy pleaseth you most.

Socialist Liberal Party (SLP)

Ideology: Centre-left liberalism

Policies:
- No nuclear deterrent
- Small ground army, support for greater UN power internationally. Highly trained special forces and internet military capacity
- Generally redistributive taxation, with high tax brackets for the very rich
- Government support for co-operative businesses
- Nationalised education, healthcare, rail, electricity, water... most things which are a) essential or b) need to be done on just 1 national network.
- All other business free market/capitalist, though with regulations to prevent damage by business to people, workers, or the environment
- Serious restrictions on financial services (some form of Glass-Steagall)
- Education free for all up to University age.
- "Vice taxes" on alcohol and cigarettes to discourage buyers and thus lower the amount the health service needs to spend.
- "Green taxes" on air travel, petrol cars
- Broadband coverage for all, high speed rail to decrease car use, videoconferencing encouraged
- Aim to convert to renewable energy, poss. by funding power stations in other countries if they have better renewable resources (more sun, better wave conditions, etc).

Ah, but I'm as yet the only member of the party. Therefore there's nobody else who COULD be leader, or for that matter NOT vote for me as leader.

Why will you not cover the Universities? Would doing so not increase the amount of people who would go for higher education?
