thanks for bearing with me guys, new update up which brings mouse controls (toggle by pressing 7) and a powerup for making your paddle longer (toggle different sizes with 8), in the future this will be activated by catching an orb dropped by a destroyed block. classic stuff.

sorry for lack of activity, been very busy lately, hopefully will have new release soon as well.

Finally able to upload an update (a3). That pause screen took alot of trial and error to figure out. Link in the bottom of the thread.

Thanks guys! Newest version is up (alpha 2) with 1 type of block, a better distortion/ball trail effect, score and lives (although there are no limits on lives yet). Soon to come: pausing, more brick types and special powers.

EDIT:If you want to restart the game i recommend closing it and reopening it. <space> does restart the game but it messes up the particles for some reason, im trying to figure out why...

Hey guys,
I've run out of stuff to add to my minesweeper game (besides more boards but that is pretty boring) SO: Im making a new game with game maker based on breakout, the theme is generaly futuristic neon etc and itl have a nice geometry wars distortion effect. There isnt much of a game just yet, just the paddle and the ball bouncing around but why dont you guys give me some feedback.

hopefully this game will be much more technically impressive than minesweeper since i've learned a lot from my last game.

Controls:
left-right move the paddle
click with the mouse to deform grid (this is just a preview to showcase the effect, it will be implemented differently in the final game)
Hit the bricks, hitting the bricks gives 5 points, destroying a brick (3 hits) gives 20 points
space to pause the game
esc quits the game

Cheats (I use these for testing purposes only - They will be removed/edited as I see fit

Press any of these keys during gameplay to activate a cheat, some cheats do not have toggle and so you will have to restart the game to turn the cheats off.

0 - Enables <Enter> making the ball shoot up. Useful for when the ball gets stuck horizontally.
9 - Enables Infinite Lives.
8 - Toggles different paddle sizes (will be available as powerup in future
7 - Toggles mouse controls off/on. Keyboard controls are broken when this is on. Turning it off restores keyboard controls.

looking good, if i may offer some advice: try and make the planet movement alittle smoother for example atm you can only move in one direction at a time, maybe make diagonal direction possible as well and maybe make the movement coast a bit at the end rather than halt abruptly.

Alright guys its taken longer than I would have liked (i've been busy with school tests so I havent been able to work too much on the game) but 0.3 is finally out. Empty tiles now open up those around them like in the real minesweeper.

I actualy figured out how to have empty spaces open up automaticaly, itl be in the next release...which hopefully will be up within a couple of days, im just working on making more boards (since they arent autogenerated i need to make each one by hand).

Hey guys, sorry for not putting out a release in awhile, i hurt my back skiing a couple of weeks ago so i havent had time to work on minesweeper much since but ive got a surprise for you guys for next release .

Ive checked and im not getting the timer not stopping problem, make sure you arent loading an old save game. From now one save games will have the version number attached, the game will also recognize if the save game is compatible. Previous versions didnt have a timer that stopped so when you load an old game it might load that problem as well.

Yeah good start besides the AI part, idk how to do that either, maybe post a topic asking for help on the game maker forum.

sure il write something for you in a bit. actually on second thought il write it in game and you can copy paste it i guess cause i need some sort of description in game.

About the timer, that shouldnt be happening, il look into it, thanks for the bug report

Ive done a partial UI overhaul for v0.2.5. more will be coming soon in 0.3.

Ive uploaded an update that makes the game alot more polished imo and i added some levels. Full changelog coming soon, in the minetime, CHECK IT OUT.

EDIT: I totally misspelled meantime by accident as minetime but im going to leave it like that lol.
