Jubal has a new laptop. It seems to be interacting with the forum software just the same way as his old laptop, which is probably a good thing.

Had one of them for many years worked amazingly well, but i ran it into the ground with the amount of gaming i did lol. It still works but the heats up like crazy. Love my new laptop though.

I'm hoping the new one will have fewer heating issues than the old one, does seem to have been an issue with the series but hopefully the modern ones are better at that. I don't do too much high powered gaming either, I guess.

Meanwhile, I have had a day in Nottingham, including some beer in (reputedly) the oldest pub in England. It's built into the cliff-face under the castle. No sheriffs, though, and the only people with bows and arrows were statues.

I wonder how many oldest pubs in England there are... I'm willing to bet it's at least well into double figures!

What you doing in my local! :o i live right next to the Old Jerusalem could of joined you for a pint ;)

Also in Nottingham there's the Bell Inn which claims to be the oldest Inn in England and about 2 mintues down the road from the Jerusalem there's the Salutation which also claims to be the oldest pub as well lol. (Salutation is a complete goth punk pub though and nowhere near as good).
As Jubal says so many pubs claim it as its almost impossible to verify, though from what i gather the Jerusalem is regarded as at least one of the oldest due to the caves its built into dating back to the old castle.

D'oh! I wish I'd posted earlier about what I was going to do. On the other hand, I didn't really decide until yesterday morning that I was definitely going to go Nottingham for the day - if Storm Katie had been much worse, or I'd felt more tired, I would probably have stayed at home.

As for the Olde Trip to Jerusalem, I went there because it's known as one of the oldest pubs in the country. As it turned out, the beer is not bad either - I only had one, but with more time and energy I'd happily have tried more.

I'd definitely like to go back to the city and the Trip; if I do, I'll try to remember to post here first.

Alas, no: I said I wanted something dark and the barman recommended Intrepid Brewing Company's Porter. That sounds like another reason to come back :)

I'm totally flat today :( Went up to Lincolnshire yesterday with parents and brought a vanload of stuff from my Grandpa's old house. I have a number of pulled muscles, and I'm exhausted, and I then predictably managed to spend my morning getting sucked into a stupid political argument. Bleeeeeh.
