How's everyone's lives going, anyhow? After being in Vienna for quite a few months, I might actually be able to apply for my PhD in the next few days (that is, to formally be enrolled as a student): I haven't been able to previously because Birmingham were being super slow with paperwork. Fortunately my pay comes from being an employee not a student and that is all sorted out, but it'll be good to be able to actually start on the taught credits I need for my degree and suchlike. I might also be going to the US in May, and need to start chasing people for funding for that...

I don't know if I'll even get funding for me. :/ They're not super generous with travel grants...

I've mostly been working on a children's book I'm writing by way of creative projects. I want to get it done this year, but it's going to be a very long haul, I've got about 10,000 words down and I think the final thing will be about 60,000...

Sorry I've not been around so much lately... I'm struggling to keep up with things. My database is starting to take shape rather better, which is good, but I keep finding lots of new issues and types of data - wrestling chronicles into a database-friendly format is no easy task, alas.

This is supposed to be fun rather than an obligation, isn't it? So if you need it, of course you would take some time off...

I like that sentiment (particularly because it would mean that funding for wildlife organisations trying to repopulate our forests with wolves would probably increase through that...  ) Sadly though, I suspect that not a lot of people would be up for that... :/
