And the university computer system failed to register me so I couldn't do the exam, so I've gone home and hid under a blanket feeling pretty wretched instead :( Not the best of weeks.

Oh no! Very annoying  :(

Are you able to re-register, or sit it at another time?

Jubal

Yeah, second sitting is in a month so it's not world-ending. Just really really miserable at a time when I desperately need to not have so much stuff hanging over my head.  :(

I'm just knackered now. Still got this exam yet to come, got to start marking final projects and also get on with writing next semester's course which I have no idea about. And I broke a plate today, and I still don't have a working washing machine.

I'm trying to write a bit today, my writing group is doing an anthology again and I'm trying to do a short story for that but I'm feeling pretty uninspired.

A logical premise my brain assembled today:

Axiom: Friendship is magic
Axiom 2: Any sufficiently advanced science is indistinguishable from magic
Conclusion: Any sufficiently advanced science is indistinguishable from friendship.

I have a new washing machine! It is capable of washing clothes! Huzzah!*

EDIT: I realise I should really say that I presume it's capable of washing clothes, based on its now proven ability to wash other similar fabric items. I have however only done bedsheets so far so who knows, it may object to clothes in unexpected ways when I try that.

Yay! Happy laundry processing!

Meanwhile, I have found a new time-sink, in the shape of a Thomas Cook European railway timetable from 1989. I am finding it all too fascinating to compare the rail networks and services of 31 years ago with the current ones. A great deal has changed, mostly for the better - rail services have become faster and more frequent in many parts of Europe. Even the timetable book itself now shows more routes, more trains and more stations.

Speaking of trains, I think I'm going to visit Bratislava next month. :D

Are you still coming to Canada sometime in the future Wolfman? ;D

Silver Wolf

That was the initial plan.

I will try to squeeze in a visit on my third or fourth year, but it also depends on available funding at the time.

I'm signed off work ill this week. Feeling very very tired more than anything.

Watching some classic eps of Unsolved Mysteries. The soundtrack... Robert Stack's voice... still scares the armadillo out of me. It's funny reading the comments that so many others are also traumatized from watching this as kids. We can't help but feel like a murderer, ghost, or alien is right behind us while watching. :')

Jubal

Mm, not a programme w have in the UK, but I definitely get the thing of there being bonus chills from a soundtrack that really affected you as a kid.

(Like for me, pretty much no show opening will ever get more dramatic than Gerry Anderson's Stingray, largely due to nostalgia bonus).
