In the next release there will be more or less the same factions [version 0.2] . Version 0.3 might contain more than 21 factions and maybe Saxons will be added... Thought they where no real faction, but just rebels and, by late 1080-early 1081 , most of their leaders where inprisoned by King Willian I .

As you might undertood the first thing we are trying to make in this mod is general historical accuracy. For example I will be able to get a 1-castle faction as Saxons, but first of all, there are other factions that have to be made... For Example Pisa at the period was stronger, but for now it will remain part of Holy Roman Empire and France, Croatia was a Kingdom in decline (the King was married to Ilona, sister of King Lazlo of Hungary, and died childless around 1090's ) and so Croatia will be incorporated in Hungary for now, Bulgarian nobles, made a rebellion at the City of Skopje against the Byzantine Empire, but by 1081, the rebellion was crushed, Serbia (Which will be included as a single state, and the heir of it was also declared King of Bulgaria) was divided among tiny and powerless principalities, the Principality of Volga-Bulgar and the Principality of Hallych-Vollynia (less likely) might be incorporated to the Principality of Kiev, since they present no new-style troops or anything....

So in the next versions (most probably after 0.3) , the new factions to be included will be:

Kingdom of Scotland
Kingdom of Hungary
Papal States
Republic of Novgorod
Kingdom of Pamplona (Navarre)
Cumans
Kingdom of Denmark
Turks
Kingdom of England
Serbian (and Bulgarian) Principalities
Kingdom of Poland (Grand Duchy, at the time)
Grand Duchy of Lithuania (Tribes, at the time)
Kingdom of Castille and Leon (also Gallicia and Portugal, united under 1 ruler)
Moors
Byzantine Empire
Holy Roman Empire
Republic of Venice
High Kingdom of Ireland
Kingdom of Sicily
Kingdom of France
Principality of Kiev
Egypt

Cheers. PS: A question for all of you guys... Do you prefer kingdom names such as ''Ireland'' or ''High Kingdom of Ireland'' , ''Serbia'' or ''Serbian Principalities''

Post any opinion below... New release... maybe this week!

EDIT: PS.2: Also wales was divided between 4-5 major and so on minor factions, easily manipulated, so England will hold 'em... Apulia was semi autonomus, but now it will remain in Sicilian Crown state, Pomerania was Free (and maybe thriving) Duchy, but it will remain in Poland as well... Bohemia was an indepentent Kingdom, of mediocre strenght and influence, but is effectively part of Poland and Holy Roman Empire... And of course Muslim Taifas where under a state of Semi-autonomy, even by the time Yusuf ibn Ammar was the ruler of the Almohads... and so on!

Personally I think High Kingdom of Ireland or Serbian Principalities is better.

Just started playing the game, and it has been smooth sailing for now. Any problems and I'll let you know.

Historic note: Lisbon was taken by the Moors in 719 (and called by them al-Lixb

Good to hear from you! You are really helping me with your notes. I know about the issue you refer to, and hopefully in the new release it will be a TOWN (not castle) and it will belong to the Moors...

Unfortunately the new scripts and the faction towns jubal send me yesterday, seam not to work with the editor... Either due to the fact they are done in module system -therefore no compatible with the map editor[?]- or because the editor cannot handle so many cities -due to technical reasons [?] - ...

So, today I started hand scripting in txt files, and by now I have placed some major cites around as well as 90% of Dannish settlements... If I work on sush a rate thought, It might take more than 1 month to do only the map! (something I could have done in 1 hour -the most- with the editor) and also then I will have to fix the troops, test around the kingdom management stuff , implement some scenes I made ... I hope I will find a way to solve the map issue, somehow...

Nice to be missed. :-)

I'd like to help in whatever i can though I don't have much experience in moduling M&B. But anything you think I can help, please let me know. I've also found some inaccuracies in city placements. I'll try to mark them in the map and send them to you. Nice touch in Salamantica, i didn't knew it was the original name so I already learn something :)

About names and kingdoms I think you should always go for the correct one at the time and on the language of who held it at the time (like al-Lixb

Yesterday night, work started for the new release.

So here is a,
Quik question to everyone:
The Byzantine Empire will have 4 cities...

The 3 will be Constaninople (Capital) , Thessalonica (Co-capital) and Nicaea (the Biggest Asia-Minor Byzantine City)

which sould be the 4th?
1) Trebizond (Later the capital of the Trebizond Empire)
2) Adrianople (Founded by Roman Emperor Adrian, later 3rd Capital of the Ottoman Sultanate, nowadays in Bulagria)
3) Velico Tetovo (Capital of the First Bulgarian Empire, just fallen thos' years)
4) Athens (Described as a village, thos' ages... late capital of the Latin Duchy of Athens, proposed only for gap filling purposes)
5) Philadelpaea (Big Asia minor City, the only to remain under Byzantine rule till early 1450)
6) Your own opinion (also mention why!)

I need as many opinions as possible!
Now I am starting by placing the towns in Ireland and Great Britain!

Velico Tetovo... Mostly because of it's significance in war between Bulgaria and Byzantine Empire ... Also it was a Bulgarian capital and Bulgarians were quite a force back then

Adrianople i reckon, or Trebizond due to its proximity to the capital; Philla is too close IMO.

Good to see the discussion was sparked up a bit... And all of you have different and well ''defended'' opinions...

1> (PS: The Sparta one is not so apropiate, since by the era of the Early Roman Empire, Sparta was in decline, reaching almost destruction... the citizens of Sparta though, had build several castles/fortified small cities in the Peloponese region)

2> (PS: Veliko Tetovo and Adrianople are my 2 best, followed by Athens in short distance... Velico Tetovo was the last capital of the First Bulgarian Empire which was effectively destroyed in 1080 - early 1081 after the Rebellion of the Bulgarians in Skopje. Skopje was the capital of the Byzantine theme of Bulgaria, but will surely be included to the Serbian Princedom (the Priclipality of Dioclea), since at exactly that era it reaced its zenith, incorporating many Slavic regions, including Skopje)

2.1 > (Velico Tetovo seams to have lost its significance after 1081, but Adrianople is a bit close to the other towns... Adrianople was signiicant for many more years tho...)

3> (PS: Athens would balance the situation a bit in Greece, along with Thessalonica, but wasn't so big city at those ages)

4> (PS: Trebizond will revive a bit of Romantism in the Pontus Region, since it sounds good for the player to Conquer it and run his empire from there)

5> (PS: Kingdom management is in now... I will test it around those days... also I hope that by tomorrow all the English, Scottish and Irish cities, castles and villages will be placed!)

well i kinda LOVE hoplites :) their spears/pikes (depends on what nation's hoplites you refer to) usually slaughter the enemy before they can try their swords against the shields ;) but its your call :)

(ps that about the spartans being better i only refer to the warriors, not the nation :) )

For now, Scotland and Ireland cities/towns/castes are placed! It will take long, definately to have all factions placed correctly... I hope more guys will jump in the discution, supporting this ambitious project!

Cheers!  :P
