BTW, You mentioned in MSN that Catalonia was a free state in 1080, I am still waiting for your fact-based explaination of that...

Send me some clues on it, mate

AFAIK even when someone else did technically "rule the catalans" they were a very independent-minded bunch. Barcelona has never been afraid to stand up for itself as a city... the ol' via fora and all that.

If either of you get a chance, read the book (historical fiction) Cathedral of the Sea by Ildefonso Falcones. It's great.  :)

As you say, technically it was someone else. That's why we have the Player faction option in the mod, so as a player can make them not only theoritically but also technically independent.  :knight:

QuoteBarcelona has never been afraid to stand up for itself as a city... the ol' via fora and all that.

The County of Barcelona was ruled by twi twin brothers Ramon Berenguar II ( Ramon II, in the mod) and Berenguar Ramon II (Berenguar II, in the mod) . Later on Ramon II Killed (assasinated) Berenguar thus be given the name Ramon Berenguar the Fraticide. The murdered brother's son, Ramon Berenguar III the Great suceeded his uncle in the County. That region was under the Sovereign of the Kings of Castile and Leon.  :ninja:

Also, about the Catalan Mercenaries, I think my helraldic Mercenaries will be ok, ar far as you'll choose the Catalan flag, which I will happily put in the game in the next release.  :knight:

Jubal, let me know in how much time you will be able to work on some new factions for the mod, since I am planning to have a quik release as soon as I can and after that a new release which will incorporate your scripts.  ;)

They are the ''Templars'' in reality , but I will say to you that the ''Blue'' ones are Catalons [  :P  ] . I think that my helraldic troops with the addition of this red-yellow banner of Catalonia will make complete sence, since that way you could have Knights, Archers and Pikemen...

A Catalan world conquest would be pretty fun, I must say.

Would it have been nice if I added some ''Almgavars'' ? Either as a Merenary troop or as some advance path to the Navarese and the Leonese troop trees ? Or you Catalans are famous for some other kind of warriors?

BTW, I am anouncing that I will do some more colour variations for the Gambeson aketons. I am thinking of Green and Yellow variants and I will use the new aketons to dress up the new re-done patrols. If you have any sugestions on the patrols just let me know on the mod's main thread. I am thinking of City Militias in most towns / cultures , Pikemen or Halbrediers , archers and maybe mounted City militias...

I thought the St George Cross was the symbol for England?

Apparently it's also a Catalan symbol.

It seems St George was so important figure and all western countries had his cross on their army  :D  ...

-I was wandering, are those troops good enough? Shall I add the 'Almogavars' ?

-Another issue I have with Iberian Christian factions is how their ''Crusader Knights'' must be named... Wikipedia quotes that '' The Order of Santiago or the Order of Saint James of Compostela was founded in the 12th century, and owes its name to the national patron of Spain, Santiago (St. James the Greater), under whose banner the Christians of Galicia and Asturias began in the 9th century to combat and drive back the Muslims of the Iberian Peninsula. Knights of Santiago is still more or less correct, because they are in fact Knights of "Saint James" - Which in Spanish is "Sant Iago".

They were founded in the 12th century. Since the 9nth Century christians used the banner of St James in their wars...
Should they still be ''Sant Iago'' Knights? or something else?

Also I would apreciate if you posted here guys... All my last post are full of new Armours there!
