Finally here it is.
We need to finish faction rosters still but I figured we might as well start on the AoR now. We will start off by doing large geographical areas, with no regard to culture or units etc. After that we will get more detailed with regions for AOR.

So let us begin with Italy!

Adding the hidden area/region resources to the descr_region will be based off this, I guess.

So, all Italian regions will be "area1" and in order, Latium will the region1, Campania will be region2, etc

eg: Some units are restricted to "area1, regionX" but all Socii troops will just be restricted to "area1" (ie: all Italian regions).

ahowl11

How would I make area1 region1 though?
I know how to make Italy but how would I make Latium inside of Italy?

I'll do that for you, I can edit the descr_strat and EDB for it, provided I can use SVN commit.

You basically have pairs, I've mentioned it elsewhere. So:

Latium has "area1" and "region1"
Campania has "area1" and "region2"

So Latin Infantry requires "area1" and requires "region1"
While Socii Troops requires "area1"

These are all hidden resources. So you have area1, area2,... area10. and then region1, region2,...region10

All settlements with the same "areaX" are roughly in the same area.

The "regionY" is just an indexing tool, the set of settlements with "region1" is a group of settlements at the top of each list of areas, it means nothing.

It seems you intend to have a class of Italian soldiers available all over Italy, with other troops restricted to single settlement recruitment only... interesting. Unless by "socii troops" you mean "these single settlement troops are socii" rather than "there are specific socii troops recruitable everywhere" if so then remove it please.

I'm guessing you have Latin Infantry then Socii Infantry (allies that use Roman-style panalopy), and then specific settlements have their specific "specialist" troops which are auxillary use (light infantry, horse, different skirmishers, etc)

ahowl11

Log into the IRC as important stuff is being changed..
The Socii troops are the Roman Allied troops. So Socii Hastati etc. They are available only to Rome.
The Region Specific Troops are available to just about anyone except for certain units like Tarentine Leukaspides.

I need some help organizing that is for sure

Mausolos of Caria

I'm not sure why you put Socii troops everywhere then? As far as I get it, the Socii should be their own skirmishers, Hastati, Principes, Triarii and equites, with equites extraordinarii and pedites extraordinarii forming the elite. So all the other units would be auxiliaries or initial levies in newly captured regions?

Yeah, I know, but wtf are these guys?

Mausolos of Caria

Well that's what I'm wondering about, are they like the Jesuits and other warrior priests in MTW2?  ;D

Depending on what area the city controls

Rome/Latium Region1 - Roman, Latin, Volsci, Sabine, Hernici, Marsi, Aequi and Falisci
Capua/Campania Region2 - Sidicini, Capuan, Aurunci
Arretium/Eturia Region3 - Etruscan
Ariminum/Umbria Region4 - Umbrian, Piceni, Praetuti, Greek if we have greek cities in it, Ariminum afaik didnt exist in 280 so chose better Ikuvium
Bovianum/Samnium Region5 - Samnite
Brundisium/Apulia Region6 - Iapyges
Tarentum/Lucania Region7 - Messapian, Greek...i think Lucania should be with the Bruttians since they were oscans also
Croton/Magna Graecia Region8 - Greek
Rhegium/Bruttium Region 9 - Oscans like Campania as Rhegium was conq by Decius Vibellius and his campanian army like Messana by the oscan mercenaries that slaughtered the greek population.

Etruscan Haruspex, Italic Cavalry, Skirmisher and Brutti Hastati have no place. The area that has Latium should be by now pretty much similiar to the roman armies but im not sure how the troops were oganised, if they had the 3 roman lines.Equipment wise they were prob similar in most ways.

INDIAN AOR
Kauntika (spearmen) recruited from wild tribes and volunteering peasants with moderate training, expected to ward off chariots and cavalry and not engage heavy infantry or elephants.
Dhanuska (Longbowmen) recruited from wild tribes and citizens with good formal training in archery, can engage in close combat with 2 handed broadswords but not expected to.
Srenibhata (Guild mercenary) recruited from private war guilds and corporations. equipped with axe, swords and wooden shields, breast plates, proficient in throwing javelins/darts. highly trained troops but like any mercenary are loyal to their guild masters, chiefs and corporations they trained at.
Vaaru (war elephant), the best war elephants in the world that a general can get. carries it master/rider along with 3 bowmen.

Gandaran AOR (north-west India, baktria and slightly to the west)
Spoiler
Gandhara Yodha (Gandaran Infantry) men with proficiency in both spear and sword combat, Greek influence evident form use of round hoplon like shields.
Kamboja Asvanika (Gandaran Cavalry) medium heavy cavalry armed with javelins and equipped with swords and hoplon like shields for close combat. best for flanking but not suited for direct charging.

This would do for the Indian AOR, I'll come up with concept art later. Mauryan specific units will have 4/5 additions over these units.
