In about a week, I am going to run a zetaboards conversion script that will collect posts, threads and member info from here and plant them into our SMF forum. If this works out, we can move over to SMF with little disruption and our accounts intact. Feel free to post on here while the conversion happens, but some posts may be lost if they are made post conversion.
Even if this works out, I'll still have to check how it looks on SMF and make sure it is all working before we can pile over. If it doesn't work out, we can still hang here with no issues, if it does we can all move over.
Why SMF?
Back before Exilian, it was Mixed Mods, and I had my own forum software, and since Invisionfree/Zetaboards, I've missed the control and freedom I had with SMF. Being able to so what I want, change what I want etc. has always been a plus for me, and hopefully will be for other admins. It also means I can get rid of the bloody adverts, which give money to no one but ZB.
New Theme
Bear in mind the SMF board has no Exilian theme atm, if anyone feels sufficiently skilled enough to make one, they are free to do so and PM it to me.
So, big changes coming up, but whatever happens, the board and it's posts and members will be safe. ZB will only be removed once we are 100% sure that the SMF board is functioning properly and has all data. Although losing the mass of spam posts from '08 wouldn't be any huge loss to me.
