I now think I may actually have damaged a tendon for my intercostal muscles, given the persistence and nature of this chest pain I'm having. Which means I could be stuck with it for a month or two. Not least since I can't really rest it easily without stopping breathing, which frustratingly apparently has other health risks involved. Just taking regular ibuprofen and hoping it helps. :/

In nicer news, despite recent illness I got a 1 in my exam of the PhD course (a generic/undergrad module on Middle Eastern Medieval History, so tbf I did have about five years of advantage built up on the topic matter). And plans for my next travel adventure seem to be finally just about in place (flying out very early on Saturday). And I'm 26 next Thursday. Time really does fly...

And regarding flying - my body is shouting "why are we awake" at me, and I'm begrudging a bit flying with Turkish Airlines which I'd usually try to avoid (I didn't book my own flights for this trip), but I have at least made it to the departure lounge for the first of my flights. I hadn't realised how quiet the airport would be at this time, I didn't need any time at all to get through it, but better safe than sorry and the Istanbul change is slow (3hr layover) so should be comfortable.

Watching some classic eps of Unsolved Mysteries. The soundtrack... Robert Stack's voice... still scares the armadillo out of me. It's funny reading the comments that so many others are also traumatized from watching this as kids. We can't help but feel like a murderer, ghost, or alien is right behind us while watching. :')

Thanks for the birthday wishes, all Had some people round this weekend, made some khinkali which whilst not exactly classy quality were still pretty edible, and made cake as well.

And now, not really having rested since the Tunisia trip, I embark on the next hell-run of starting teaching a new course and delivering three talks in as many weeks. Urgkh. Wish me luck!

After getting my Bannerlord beta key and playing just one game I can say that it's everything I ever dreamed of.
